Yes, its not fair but that's the reality. Apparently the schengen rules states that all member countries have 60days to process visa requests.

And even after wasting 53days, my visa request was denied!

Uchmonia:
that is not fair, they re the once tat stated that one have to apply 3weeks before the date of department, while are the not keeping to there words
TravelRe: Lets Talk About Belgium by queendoreez(f): 11:39pm On Mar 19, 2018
There's nothing you can do than to wait and zero your mind that the embassy have 2 months to give a response!

Listen up! Belgium Embassy is the most incompetent embassy in Nigeria!

Sometime in December 2016 (precisely on the 22nd), i submitted my visa request application to VFS Lagos, i didn't get a reply until the 8th of February, that's roughly 53days!

Uchmonia:
Good evening fellow nairalanders I applied for a Short stay Visa @ Vfs Abuja Office last month for conference which is coming up by next 2weeks,
i submitted but I'd not receive any massage stating that my application have left the VFS office to the embassy. When I track on line I have response such as ur visa application is under processing @ Visa application centre kindly contact them for more details, I called the customer care line and the lady told me that my application have been submitted, that is with the embassy and that the response I got was an error. The 15 working days giving to me have elapsed, and to today Is the 24th day after submission. Pls for those of us who have gone through such process what should I do, because I have less than 10days to travel as my leave will be starting by next 2weeks as well.

Pls your candid advice is need as to the next step to take in other to get my documents before my departure date.

I just followed you on Twitter and tweeted at you too.

Xadeeq:
Hey!

If I were in your shoes, I would apply for both 1st Degree and (Integrated Masters or a Masters Degree). You may want to look for the meaning of Integrated Masters Degree here in Portugal. To the best of my knowledge, It is not a full masters degree, but certainly not an undergraduate degree either. I don't really know much about it... look it up and get more details. It could be a worthy option.

Let me start by telling you that . PLEASE, PLEASE and PLEASE, be very SURE to have very good back-ups in terms of FUNDS that would last you for at least 1 year before you step out of Nigeria oo. or better, you have very good cash in-flow that would support your stay here. Even though, Portugal is one of the least expensive places to live (a relatively good/decent European life style), yet, it is getting expensive by the day because lots of Europeans and other nationals are falling in love with her major cites by the day, so things and house rents are getting "crazily" expensive.

Further Education is great, and it gives you a chance to get good jobs. The Educational system here is quite rigorous, be sure you'd work seriously. As a matter of fact, I am in school right now, writing this reply because I need to study; but I have a take the time-out to address these matters - important life decisions for you.
See me oo, because of the serious academic tasks here, I have been procrastinating writing a blog-post on studying in Portugal, especially for Nigerians on the ordeals I and many others faced during our time applying for admission and visas. Maybe somedays... I'll get to write it.

A little good news is (if it's anything to go by), once you are done with your studies and you get a job, settling down here might be fairly easy and it was encouraged by the Mayor of Lisbon himself whilst welcoming International Students in the City Hall last November.

To precisely answer your questions:

1. Apply to about 6 schools (Yes! Six!! You are the one desperate to further your studies abroad and You are the one with an HND (No hard feelings. Even me sef with B.Tech did the same). So the "lesser-in-weight you think your credentials might be, the more schools you have to apply to, in order to increase your chances, considerably. (You asked for the truth brother [abi Sister], there it is).

2. There is a huge cost implication. Most schools will ask for application fees per submission - ranging from 50 Euros to 200 Euros (Even though, I did not pay application fees for my school, during my time, but they have introduced it now). SO PLEASE BE AWARE

3. Like I tell most people who ask me about studying in Portugal GENERALLY, I tell them that google is our friend. She knows everything! Just know how to ask and ask. However, if you are really asking for specifics, then I would know that you have done your homework and you just need a few help, not the whole of my time.
So, just so we're clear. I am not an agent, so I won't do the work for you sir/ma. But if you have done your research and feel hooked, I'd be more than happy to help if its within my reach.

4. That said, the best way to get information from each school is to email them. Send them an email and follow up with phone calls if you could. Whilst I was in Nigeria, I would exhaust my phone credit almost every day and turn to the office phone when I am desperate to get information. I am not saying you should do this, but do everything lawfully possible to get their attention. They are paid in their international Offices in these schools to answer our requests.

5. Lest I forget, the best time to apply to most universities in Portugal, and by extension, Europe is now!. So, start applying...

6. Sadeeq, calm down a bit, tell us about your school:
Okay! I know about my school very well because I had offer in 2016 and I couldn't go, and couldn't differ. Actually, I applied to four (4) courses and I got interviewed for the 4 of them, I picked the one I liked the most then. But I couldn't go.

Fast forward 2017, I applied again and I was given an offer. This time, I knew I had to go, and here I am. Morale is: Know when it is best for you and do everything in your power to see it through.

7. Yes! I remember, there are PostGraduate/Certificate Programs in my school too (1 year) and you should be good enough to use it to enter the Masters Course (Please, again, call/write the school to verify)... If you read through the thread, you will know my school. Ha ha!!

Finally, if per-adventure my blog post comes out, you may not bother to read it, 'cos it would be a waste of your extra time, it would be virtually everything I have said here. Just that I would add some fancy pictures to make it a little bit live-lier.

I may get periodic responses via email notifications for your replies here, so bear with me if I don't reply immediately. However, If you don't find me on that blue bird application @xurdeeq, then I am on Linkedin.

Even you sef know that I have said (or written) enough. Lemme come and be going. I have to finish this Chapter on R Data Science Programming before earning the right to go and the see Black Panther tonight. Yes!! I have not watched it cheesy

Beyond the strictness in my reply (yes, the truth has to be told without looking Uche Face) and the jokes btw, I wish you the very best in your pursuit, and God spare our lives in good health, I cannot wait to have more Nigerians join us here in Lisbon come September (or November last last sha... depending on how lucky you are with the Embassy (a talk for another day))

Best Regards.

my people am here again . am just looking for a route to leave this country . may be through Education and settling there permanently is my priority. I have always wanted to go to the USA / CANADA for my Masters as I have HND and know it Will be difficult in Europe without PGD which am avoiding like a plague . and I prayed that instead of me doing PGD I don't mind doing my 1st degree . but of course not in Nigeria. so that brings me to this question. Can I do my Masters straight in any Portuguese University ? if no , can i apply for 1st degree with my Diploma ? I need a very honest , brute and critical answer here . and if possible , know how to go about it .
Can anyone give more insights to this, please?!

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Information reaching me is that Payoneer has started deactivating the Make a payment feature on some accounts, mine inclusive. The implication of this is that we can no longer send our monies to exchangers! And withdrawing via ATM na issue! Any ideas?

Hello house, i was scheduled for B1/B2 visa interview next month but i'm considering rescheduling the appointment as i have other important commitments in the country.

Question:

Is it possible to schedule the appointment for later in the year, say October, since i already stated in my application form that intended date of travel is March?
Can anyone answer my question please??
