Whatever floats your boat. Truth is, if some lawyers are having it rough, it doesn't mean the profession is not worth its weight in gold. Accountants, engineers, etc are all embroiled in this same persistent lack of jobs or low income saga until individuals carve a niche for themselves and grow to their desired height. It is not about the profession, it's about the person and the economy.

Sure.. So let's try to be realistic while dealing with young ones, so they are mentally prepared for what's ahead. Nobody rolls out a red carpet for you, because you are a lawyer. There are too many lawyers and not enough briefs. I have friends working in firms without pay! How can they meet their needs?

A classmate whose wife gave birth through CS didn't have N250,000 as savings to pay for the surgical operation. A married man that's 4 years at the bar, also working with a firm. My husband had to ask me how he intends to take care of the baby and wife afterwards? We had to contribute money on our University Alumni whatsapp group to assist him.

I don't wish a life of financial dependence and uncertainty on anyone. Life is short, i can't spend my youthful days suffering in the name of "passion"!If a profession isn't paying, you leave it to find something more lucrative. At least i am not Dangote, but i can comfortably travel to anywhere in the world, eat what i want and still have money dropping in my account on a daily basis, even in my sleep! So, no regrets whatsoever dumping my wig and gown!

We will be here someday when you'd report back how the economy has stultified your business or how government policy has killed your business forays. lol.. With all due respect i wasn't involved in local practice. My salary was good enough compared to what other firms pay. I worked with Olalekan Ojo and co. Google their clientele so you can verify it's nothing near "local". A firm that handles cases for TB Joshua, Farouk Lawan, Al Mustapha, Obat oil to name a few?I used to speak highly of the legal profession because i never knew the rot beneath the pomp and pageantry the world sees it to be. And, oh.. If my business can thrive in Buhari economy, then i wonder what other economy or government policy can kill my business. Its a business i didn't dabble into. I have been doing it since my undergraduate days, as far back as 2012. So trust me, my business is good!

The legal profession is good enough for bragging rights, but don't deny the fact that lawyers are roasting!Many cannot boast of a million naira this December.Some female lawyers came to my hair showroom from the customary court of appeal. They asked about price for a particular hair,my staff told her N67, 500. The ladies shouted, that that's their three months salary..How can a professional be expected to live on N25000?I couldn't help but wonder, if it's worth the stress finally.

I have lawyer friends, lots of them diversified, got relevant certifications and experience. Before that diversification, better suffer knack them. There is no course that isn't overrated in Nigeria sef, but for a professional course like Law, its own overrated deserves Headies Award.

To be sincere with you, law in Nigeria is crap and highly overrated, I have a first class law school graduate who get 5k per week in abuja, the senior lawyers are extremely greedy and don't want to pave ways for the younger ones, except you have a very rich parents or you have senior family members who are ready to sincerely carry you along, you're on a long thing.

I'll rather advice someone study business administration, banking and finance or accounting than law.
If there's anyway you can change or tilt towards this line mentioned, it'll be better.
