A final year Chemical Science student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, has died, after drowning in the swimming pool of a hotel in the state on Easter Sunday.

According to reports, The man identified as "Oladipupo Ayooluwa" aka Pells, drowned, yesterday, at Soltrag hotel, Agbara, while hanging out with friends.

His body has since been deposited at the General Hospital in Ota. He was meant to add another year on the 22nd of April.

American singer "The Weeknd" will be suing Nigerian singer "wizkid" and any other artistes that tries to Trademark "Starboy".

According To The Weekend: He wants people to know that he is the real and only "Starboy." And his lawyers are ready to take on any imposters.

TMZ also reports that the Canadian singer's lawyers filed documentation against Eymun Talasazan, a realtor. Talasazan filed to trademark "Starboy" for his own creative projects long after the Weekend's album and hit song of the same name.

According to TMZ, the musician's legal team found Talasazan was up to other shady copyright business. He previously filed to trademark Straight Outta Bombton" and "Runnin' Through the 6." Such details reveal one thing: he's mostly likely in it for the money.

"Starboy" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after spending eight consecutive weeks in the slot for number two, Billboard reports. Additionally, "Starboy" is the Weeknd's third song to reach number one on the chart. It was Daft Punk's first-ever time holding the number one slot on the chart.

Tragedy struck, last night, in Amichi, Anambra State, as a Deeper Life pastor was killed in a fatal accident which occurred while he was returning from an Easter retreat.

According to reports, Pastor Ekwulu Mmili was riding his motorcycle when he was knocked down by a Toyota Camry, and was cut into two in the process.

Doctors in North West have successfully removed a knife from the brain of a 23-year-old man who was stabbed during a tavern brawl.

According to Tshepiso Mothibi‚ he was enjoying drinks at a tavern in Magogoe near Mahikeng on March 20 when a fight broke out and he was stabbed through the left eye. With the sharp self-made shank knife still embedded in his brain‚ he was airlifted from the Mahikeng provincial hospital to the Tshepong Hospital where an operation to remove the knife was successfully carried out by Dr Tharun Krishna‚ head of the hospital’s neurosurgery unit‚ assisted by his team.

According to Polaki Mokatsane‚ CEO of the Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex it was a “very complex operation” as a CT scan showed that “the whole sharp side of the knife was impacted and buried in the brain with only the handle side of the knife sticking outside”.

“The surgery took five hours to complete successfully and the patient responded well‚” Mokatsane said‚ adding that Mothibi was being kept in hospital for further observation.

Dr Krishna‚ who was assisted Dr. Masedi Mohale; Neurosurgery Registrar‚ Dr. Ben Hameda and Dr. Hilda Mazvhikwa‚ both anaesthetists‚ and Sister Nontsikelelo Mpana‚ the theatre nurse‚ described the operation as challenging.

“The patient underwent craniotomy to open a portion of the skull in order to expose the cranial base and base of brain to inspect the major structures that provide blood supply to the brain‚ namely the two internal carotid arteries‚ and the major cranial nerves‚ to protect and d repair these vital structures” Krishna said.

“In theatre‚ the knife was carefully disengaged and withdrawn from the brain in a controlled manner‚ while being monitored under the magnified vision of operating microscope‚ without causing internal bleeding or injury to the structures of the brain.”’

Krishna added that Mothibi‚ who will be discharged on Thursday‚ had retained his vision in the left eye. “Post-operatively‚ the patient is doing very well‚ with vision of both eyes preserved. This patient was very lucky."

Medical students of the University of Benin have been kicked out of the NDDC hostel which was specifically built for medical students, but currently houses less than 10% of them.

It has been reported that rooms are being given to students from other faculties, and medical students have been asked to evacuate the hostel.

As of now, the 300 Level medical students who have their professional exams to write, next month, don't have a place to stay, same goes for their other colleagues. The students were seen hanging around the hostel, today, after being kicked out.

A 27-year-old student of the Ambrose Ali University, Edo State, was, on Monday, killed at Obalende roundabout in Lagos.

According to reports, Emmanuel Onaghise was ambushed around 10:28pm. Two people, Tunde Tigana and Ajayi, have been fingered to be among his assailants, while an official report has been filed at Onikan police station.

Kwara State command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has uncovered a den of ritualists located at Aleyo settlement, along Ojoko Road, Off Afon community in the Asa LGA of Kwara state.

In the operation led by the commandant of the Corps, Ayinla Adeyinka, on Monday, two alleged ritualists were also arrested for alleged involvement in rituals and obtaining money under falsehood.

The discovery and arrest followed a complaint by one of the victims, Abdulrahman Mumini, who had allegedly been duped to the tune of an accumulated amount of N5 million for the purpose of making money. The suspects are Kazeem Absdulsalam, 54, and Adamu Hussein, 36.

An impersonator of Nollywood actor, Mike Ezuruonye, has been arrested by the EFCC.

According to reports, actor Ezuruonye petitioned the police after having his image dragged in the mud by criminal elements who use his name to defraud unsuspecting fans.

Today, one of the alleged culprits was apprehended by the EFCC. The suspect is identified as Osigbovo from Benin, Edo State.

He is currently in the custody of EFCC for collecting large sums of money from female fans of the actor. He allegedly used Ezuruonye's image and videos and superimposed his own voice to deceive these women.
