PoliticsGhana Should Have Asked DANGOTE For A Loan, Instead Of Crawling To The IMF by Quintopia(op): 9:10pm On Jul 05, 2022
These Ghanaian leaders don't have sense sha.

They've mismanaged their economy and have approached the IMF to bail them out.

The bailout package will be the usual 1 or 2 billion dollar loan, which will come with various conditionalities, such as wage freezes for civil servants and public employees, currency devaluation, and trade liberalization, ie opening their economy to western imports, (and killing local industries).

Instead of destroying their economy for a paltry 1 or 2 billion dollars, why didn't they just beg DANGOTE to loan them the money, and grant him favourable repayment deals and some extraordinary support for his businesses in Ghana?

That way they could have gotten back on their feet, and run their economy without interference from the west.

Even Otedola or someone else in Nigeria could have loaned them that money.

Anyway, it's their cup of tea. Good luck to them in their dealings with the IMF.

Nothing like self hatred bro. We don't have stable electricity here. I use solar to power my two bedroom apartment and I live in a big city in Nigeria. That is rubbish.
We have to dig bore hole, we have to pay private people to guide us, our roads are so bad, we have terrible football league, watch our league, watch north African or South African leagues. We don't even want to mention other sports.
No dey deceive ur self. We are terrible bro.
OH SHUT IT.... NIGERIA is a developing nation, like 80% of nations on Earth.

If you can't grasp that simple fact, leave the country! Go and live in Morocco or Algeria, till they cut off your head for chatting up their daughters. Then you will know they're ''terrible'' too.

Self hater. This is how you dumb idiots end up as slaves sucking Arab nuts in war-torn Libya and Lebanon, and appealing to Buhari to evacuate you, because of this stupid ''everywhere is better than Nigeria'' mentality you have.

Why are you even complaining about using solar power? You don't know it's good to use renewable energy?

My brother, I told you that these people are mentally damaged.

This donkey you're talking to, I can bet you he has never travelled to, or researched any other African country in his life. Yet he just 'knows' (ie is programmed to think) that any modern housing development you reside in must have been built by white people.

I mean, it's tragic the way they think.

The black race will always blame and never take responsibility.
You're very stupid.

Who made your little boy self that would have been a village illiterate without black leaders coming to power - who gave you your lips to talk?

JUST SHUT UP.

Without the ''black race'' achieving independence when your father wasn't even born, you would be a half-naked, barefooted village nobody, and a slave to some white queen like your grandpa was, because the white colonialists never invested a dime in public education in their 100 year rule.

It was BLACK PEOPLE coming to power in Nigeria that saved your parents and you from being illiterate village peasants, so shut up, because black people ''TOOK RESPONSIBILITY'' for you!!!

Niger Delta has a voluminous deposit of crude oil. What effort has your leaders made to develop the very towns where the oil wells are located?
Even if they turned it to 'Dubai' tomorrow, would that make you feel any less inferior?

What about the thriving, built-up cities with major infrastructure you have in that region today, that were mere villages with naked children running about, during colonial misrule?

Places like Calabar, Uyo, Awka, Abakiliki, Ikot Ekpene, Asaba, Warri etc?

I'm old enough to recall when most of those places didn't have even one tarred road, with thatched huts a common sight.

BUT GO THERE TODAY - flyovers, expressways, banks, shopping malls, universities, housing estates, factories, major hospitals, research institutes, international conference centres!

But because you're conditioned to feel inferior, you ignore all your country's successes and define it solely by its challenges.

That makes you sick!

Will you also blame the caucasians for the underdevelopment of the oil rich Niger delta? Would you sue the caucasians for failing to mine the gold, marble coal, bitumen and iron ore deposits in Zamfara, Oyo, Enugu, Ondo and Kogi states respectively?
Slave to ''caucasians'', the black leaders are sure doing a lot more to develop the nation with our resources than your white colonialists did.

At independence in 1960 you had not a single university or power plant or expressway in Nigeria after 100 years of English rule!

Black people coming to power in Nigeria is the best thing that ever happened to you.

Just a quick question though. Why do Nigerians like such comments tho? "Africa is cursed", "Africa needs recolonisation", "the white man is superior" etc, I hardly see such comments where im from
They are still suffering from the mental effects of colonial rule. British rule ended in 1960, but they left a lot of damaged minds in Nigeria via their education system which discredited everything indigenous.

It is so bad that small scale manufacturers of shoes, handbags, clothes etc in Nigeria, place ''Made in Italy'', ''Made in India'', ''Made in China'' etc on their wares for easier sales, because Nigerians are conditioned to believe that everything made 'abroad' is superior in quality to its Nigerian-made counterpart.

Nigeria is also the country that imports skin bleaching creams more than any other country on Earth.

They are mentally damaged people. TOTALLY LOST. Programmed to self-hate and worship white or light-skinned humans.

Guess what happens in some schools when you speak your native language rather than English?

You get scolded or punished, maybe caned, for speaking 'vernacular'.

They refer to their own indigenous languages as 'vernacular'.

I think only divine intervention can save them at this point.

Abuja national stadium (now MKO Abiola stadium was adjudged the 8th best in the world when it was built in 2003. Same stadium became a grazing arena for Fulanis between 2015 to 2021.

Thanks to Dangote who volunteered to renovate it after a years of inactivity. Where is national stadium in Surulere?

The caucasians settlers built the developed parts of South Africa. Go and research how areas dominated by locals/indigenous South Africans live.
Were the ''caucasian settlers'' not actually MASS MURDERERS and LOOTERS who robbed the people there of their land and resources and seized the land and resources for nearly two centuries after massacring millions of indigenous people?

Why would the places they build or live in not be well-appointed compared to the locals?

Oh, so now they are angels in your head?

IMF loan won't save Ghana's economy - Renowned US economist

Prof. Steve Hanke, renowned international economist at the Johns Hopkins University, USA, has stated that Ghana's latest crawling to the IMF will not save its economy.

The economist put Ghana's current inflation rate at an astonishing 49.35%, which is triple the 17.7% inflation rate of neighbouring Nigeria.

In a recent tweet, he said, ''Ghana is in 16th place in this week's Hanke’s #CurrencyWatchlist. By my calculations, the #cedi has depreciated ~29% against the USD since Jan. 2020. The Ghanaian cedi is a central bank junk currency.''

Akwa Ibom is quite dynamic in this regard.

This thing is not about blaming Abuja or FG or Fulani people.

States must be innovative and dynamic.

President Buhari Welcomes Berthing of First Ship at $2 Billion Lekki Deep Sea Port

Vanguard, Lagos

Lekki Deep Sea Port (Render)
https://independent.ng/wp-content/uploads/lekki-deep-sea-port-1.jpg

President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR., has congratulated the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the Nigerian Ports Authority on the successful berthing of the first ship at Lekki Deep Sea port.

The vessel, ZHEN HUA 28, delivered three Ship to Shores (STS) and 10 Rubber Tyre Gantries (RTG) cranes that will help in the evacuation of cargoes from vessels to the shore.

The president expressed his feelings in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, on Saturday in Abuja.

He also congratulated all stakeholders in the maritime sector over the feat.

Buhari recalled that his approval of four new seaports in the country, including the Lekki Deep Sea port, was hinged on growing the economy.

According to him, the decision was also aimed at creating massive job opportunities, foreign investment inflows and trade facilitation.

He commended the staff and management in the nation’s maritime sector who are working round the clock to make the operationalisation of Lekki Deep sea port before the end of the year a reality.

The president reassured them of his commitment to sustain investments in these new assets.

According to Buhari, the nation’s maritime and aquatic resources are critical to the livelihoods of Nigerians and Government will spare no effort in successfully harnessing the potential of the sector.

When I hear all this story about 'country has lot of natural resources'....I just laugh.

Having natural resources is not the issue....it is what you do with the natural resources that matters. That is why America is developed and Ghana and Nigeria and a host of other African countries are not developed. We have a lot of resources....that we sell to other countries for billions, and those other countries take those resources, and use them to make goods worth more than the cost of those same resources!

Add the fact that we do not even control the prices of those resources...price of cocoa, cotton, oil etc are set abroad in London, Paris and New York. And most of the time, the prices are below what can sustain us because everyone else is producing the same thing. (Fact-Uganda had a coffee boom in the late 1970's largely because famine in several coffee producers left Uganda being something of 'the last man standing'. Once those other coffee producers got back on their feet...prices went down. Uganda was back to square one).

When the price cannot sustain us, that is when we run to IMF for loans.

Ghana has this problem because like Nigeria they are not a manufacturing society. They instead sell raw materials, and import stufff...and when the prices go below their needs...wahala dey.
A major problem is the western imposition of tariffs on value-added or processed raw materials from Africa, which can make manufacturing for export unprofitable.

The solution is greater intra-African trade in manufactured goods, and this is on the rise, so the future is bright.

I agree with you. Things are usually cheaper in Nigeria than Ghana. Nigerians living in Ghana always buy things in Nigeria. So if inflation is now very high there then there is serious cause for concern.

However, if only Nigeria's economy is doing well, it will have positive ripple effect on the rest of West Africa but when it isn't, it also has a net negative effect on them.

More reasons we need Peter Obi now to help us take back naija from criminals killing our economy and Ghanaians as well as other ECOWAS countries should be praying for us, knowing their destiny is also partly attached to ours.
I honestly don't think Peter Obi is the only candidate capable of moving Nigeria forward. Revamping this economy is not rocket science. Tinubu, and to some extent Atiku can bring some progress too, with the right policies.
