This post is very true. But despite the billions of bacterias we don't die of diarrhoea. Even in rich homes and middle class homes sponge disinfection is not a thing.

So these zillions of harmful bacterias that we have been consuming from childhood has actually made us stronger. People should be more mindful of eating too much carbs than harmful these harmful bacteria

Let me burst your bubble the Nigerian army as of 1966 before the coups was only 10k strong in Number. The bulk of the infantry officers were igbos, before the war started Ojukwu knew that there was a skills gap in the Nigerian army especially in infantry division. Hence the fast advance was made to the West via Ore. If they had reached Ijebu Ode, Ojukwu had calculated that having Banjo a Yoruba man leading that advance would appeal to the Yorubas to join so that they would dislodge the Northern Soldiers from the Western region. I loved the way this conversation has been going, at least it has been cordial to a good degree. In Benin, Banjo had the eastern region and a good number of communities who are igbos, igbo-speaking or sympathetic to the cause in midwest at his flank. Now driving further to Ijebu Ode, he would encounter a lot of communities which dont have such historical and cultural mixture advantage and then he would really be exposed to flanking action from anywhere from Ondo, Ife, epe-ikorodu axis. Then who was Banjo to the general yoruba populace, does the mere fact that a yoruba man is leading an invading army rally the Yorubas to the Biafran cause or would it be seen as the utmost betrayal and cursed by his people. The same assumption was made that just because Awolowo allegedly promised Ojukwu that he would lead yorubas to secede ultimately means that promise is bankable. The West was already politically splintered and Awolowo was not the end all and be all in the west, he does not hold the west by the collar to lead wherever he deem fit.

In his memoir, The Nigerian Revolution and the Biafran War, Major General Alexander Madiebo criticized the August 1967 push into Nigeria's Mid-Western Region and the subsequent advance towards the West as a catastrophic strategic blunder. He argued that the operation dangerously overextended the Biafran military and unnecessarily provoked the Yoruba-dominated Western Region into the conflict.

If General Modiebo who is a tactical genius, how can we dismiss that Banjo is wrong to believe it. To put some context into this by 1964, Madiebo had become the first indigenous commander of the Nigerian Army Artillery Regiment, an achievement that underscored his professional competence and rising stature within the army while Ojukwu throughout his career before the war was majorly in the staff and administrative role, he became the quartermaster general and then a military administrator. Banjo was trained in sandhurst the premier in the regular combatant course. So there is a lot of merit to their angle on the matter.

The governors had a meeting in Abuja after which they paid a condolence visit to the APC chairman whose mother recently died. They also paid a condolence visit to the Kogi State governor whose father recently died. The visit was at the governor's Abuja residence. Many events were scheduled around these meetings, for example, Sanwo-Olu attended the Gitex-AI Summit on September 1st, North-East governors met with the president on September 3rd, the Niger State governor met with the FIRS boss, etc.

On their way back they also said farewell to the president who was travelling on the same day that they were returning to their states.

How can that be described as leaving their states just to say bye to the president at the airport?

Thank you very much, a lot of people commenting about the reving obviously has never flown or does not pay attention inflight. That Rev noise is normal and you hear it even before the plane starts moving. I think it is used to fire the engine before even before any movement happens. The plane was just taxing to take position for take-off and would have been instructed to do so.

Then on the issue of her not moving at all even if given clearance for take-off, that is true if she knew they were still obstructing her. I believe she had gone into the plane for some time to prepare for take-off which requires several minutes of preparation, so she could have thought that the situation has been handled by security and then she was given clearance to fly. Then where those people are is likely a blind spot, from the height where the cockpit is she probably cant see anything under the nose of the craft except if there is a camera screen that show that spot, she cant possibly see them from the windscreen of the plane.

All the tithes, offerings and all other monies collected are used for what exactly then, to buy private jets and build world class universities for themselves. The churches are money oriented while the JWs are not. Why is there a need for them to have unmanageable crowd in a place. Why cant the convention be split into multiple locations across a time period spanning several weeks. The same reason why Jesus Christ Chased the money changers from the temple is the same reason why this is absolutely wrong.

Am sure you have seen films like the vikings and a host of others that showcases a lot of the vikings ancient culture, traditions and religion, how many of those traditions are currently being practiced by the scandinavians. Please I am not talking about wearing a viking mask and attires during football matches or when having some fun activities.

I still see sacrifices at different bus stops and roundabouts in Lagos up till now, Oro Festivals still happens in almost towns in the west, masquerades are still routinely carried in the east with all the rites and rituals that goes with it. I can name many bus stops in Lagos were huge Shrines to Esu, an entity that is otherwise known as Satan/Devil (though yoruba traditonalists would say he is just a trickster) is prominently constructed and worship still takes place with fresh blood, sacrifices etc

Tell me which scandinavian country have you seen a shrine with blood and sacrifice right in broad daylight on a prominent road, or you think they do not use to have them in the times past.

Where are all the Druids (the high priests of their tradition religion before christianity) of Britain, Scotland and France, what happened to all their shrines and rituals, why are the british no longer worshiping at the temples of the druids. Where are all the witches (the remaining custodians of their ancient religion) of Europe, why were they killed to extinction if the white values tradition and has a mind of their own. All what you seen now as traditions in Europe were also borrowed, they also became converts to new religions and traditions. Was it a catholic priest or Anglican priest that was crowning British Kings in times past? Were they swearing by the Bible 2000 years ago. It was the Roman Conquerors that brought Christianity to them and up till 600 AD, most British were still traditionalists.

Therefore the very act of conversion to a foreign religion is, in my view, already a betrayal of your people, your oath, your culture, your role, your stool and your tradition. You should step down from the throne.

But in the event that all your subjects or a significant majority of your subjects have become converts to a new religion, then does a king need to or have to steadfastly/needlessly adhere to a tradition or religion that his people has spurned/rejected or modernized as they see fit.
Do the present people not have a right to change their tradition or culture to something new/different that can in decades or centuries become an "old" tradition for future generations, just like their forbears also adopted, adapted or created traditions that lasted to their own era.

Constantine was the first Roman emperor that was said to become a christian, he was not buried according to Roman burial rites. He was said to be baptized on his deathbed and buried according according to "xtian" rites. There are thousands of examples of Kings who had a clean break during their reign from the cultures and rites that brought them to the throne and they established a different culture/rites going forward which then became the new tradition and culture. And most times these changes dont all occur during the reign of the first king that converted, it takes place over several reigns, each king taking the people and culture further and further away from the previous culture and tradition. From the Mongolian kings of Central Asia to the Mughal emperors of India, to the Viking Kings of Scandinavia down to the Turkic rulers of Anatolia, you can hardly find a clean break as you posited in your comments

People tend to think that culture and traditions are stagnant and must be adhered to. These rites, cultures and traditions have always been fluid. All the culture, rites and traditions were started at one time in our history by events or by the declaration of the people or the King and a lot more of these traditions have also been changed or abandoned over the centuries.

It would be naive to even assume that all the oro rites, egungun and other traditional rites have remained exactly the same rites as it was done hundreds of years ago.

Ijebuland most famous culture. tradition etc can arguably be said to be the Ojude-Oba festival but it started as just a courtesy visit by muslim leaders to the first awujale during the ileya (eid-al-adha) festival. Subsequently all leading families including the traditionalists also joined in visiting the Oba during the festival, now it is the whole world regardless of religious affiliation that pays homage to the oba. Many dont even know what it is all about, just the pomp and pageantry is enough for them and even if you tell them the religious significance most would not care. So is Ojude oba traditional or religious? can a xtian Awujale decree that no one should visit him during this period because he does not celebrate the festival.

Emperor Hirohito of Japan had one of the most ancient and sacred stools in the world with all the attendant rites and rituals but defeat and modernity caught up with their culture and hardly does anyone in Japan hold him with 1% of such honour and regard. Can anyone say that the Japanese people were worse off for it. I doubt that. And even long before the emperor lost his status, the King also destroyed the samurai culture of Japanese that has been in existence for thousands of years because the culture could no longer be permitted in a modern world.

Most times people talking about culture this, culture that have not studied culture and cultures enough to know what it really is and how it shapes society and society also shapes culture. That is why we talk about people and culture, people create cultures for themselves and they also change cultures for themselves.

Is it a quranic injunction or it is a custom that developed over time? Or are there exceptions to the law eg during war?.

All the women in the bible were never called by a first name and surname. A number of them is by their place of birth, occupation etc. so it would be wrong to categorically state that it is a sin not to bear a husband's name as a surname when the practice is not even known that time.

For me it is preferable for it to be so, there is a reason why for thousands of years it was not so and then later the idea of first name and surname were adopted for both men and women. If a husband mis agreeable for his wife to bear another name while he bears a different name in this world where name and surname mismatch can cause a lot of confusion and mixup, then that is fine. There is no reason to think anyone is committing a sin for doing that.

We should be careful to superimpose the realities of our times with what was obtainable centuries or millenniums ago.

In times past most people live in small villages and they know each other very well. There was no need to have surnames attached to your name. The differentiation between two individuals bearing the same name can be by occupation eg Joseph the carpenter, Daniel the prophet, Joseph of Arimathea, Jesus of Nazareth, Lydia the purple maker, Priscilla and Aquila Philo of Alexandria etc. people don't refer to each other by names and surnames neither do they have a need to fill forms which will require you to write a first name and surname. All these because a norm hundreds of years later.
Surnames as we know them today did not exist among the Jews of Bible times. The Westminster Dictionary of the Bible (1944), page 418, states: “Surnames were lacking among the Hebrews; persons were designated by adding to the personal name the name of their city, as Jesus of Nazareth, Joseph of Arimathaea, Mary Magdalene, Nahum the Elkoshite; or by a statement of their descent, as Simon son of Jonah; by their disposition, trade, or other characteristic, as Simon Peter, Nathan the prophet, Joseph the carpenter, Matthew the publican, Simon the Zealot, and Dionysius the Areopagite.”

On this point the Encyclopedia Americana, 1942 edition, has this to say under “Names”: “Neither the Hebrews, Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians nor Greeks had surnames; and in the earliest period of their history the same may be said of the Romans.” (Vol. 19, p. 685) This source continues to show that our present system of surnames came only centuries later. All of which shows that the Bible characters did not have first names as we view them today. It was the custom of that day.

Go and read the beginning of the chapter, this was an illustration of what needs to be done to enter Gods Kingdom. He started with the bridegroom and the wise and foolish virgins and continued to the slaves with the talents and rounded up with the sheep who helped Jesus's brothers and goats who refused to help and therefore were sent into destruction while the sheep gained life. So the whole chapter was talking about what actions needed to be done to have Gods favour and enter the kingdom of God.
