Nigeria is a religious bigoted country with massive socio-economic issues, so it will take a while before we start caring about basic human rights, much less LGBT+ rights. If you're content with your situation, you wouldn't care that two consenting adults of the same sex are in a relationship. Your focus would be on issues that affect your own life. However when you're poor and insecure, you find people "not like you" to marginalise in order to feel better about yourself. These could be people from a different tribe, following a different religion, with a different level of education, or in this case, of another sexual orientation. Unfortunately this is where we currently are as a society, just that we use "religion" and "traditional values" as justification for our intolerance. For those quoting the Bible, sebi that same Bible condemned sex outside marriage. Why aren't you campaigning for that to be made illegal? |
Bigflamie:This kind of skepticism is bordering on paranoia. Most times it's best to just take things at face value, otherwise you'd give yourself unnecessary headache from overthinking. What's unrealistic about a child in this Nigeria using light from an ATM to study? |
Don't address security issues across the country, insufficient electricity supply or come up with coherent economic policies. Instead introduce 79 new visa categories, and tell us this is what we need to move Nigeria forward. Sai Baba! |
Gborlea7:Because life abroad is hard! This is something most Nigerians don't understand, as we assume everyone based abroad has made it and start feeling entitled to their money. Salaries are higher sure, but so is the cost of living. There are taxes to pay, rent/mortgage, bills, insurance premiums, feeding and childcare costs. Whatever is left over at the end may only be enough to buy "old-fashioned neglected clothes" for people back home. Even households with multiple incomes most often struggle to get by. So, stop feeling entitled to other people's money. You don't know what it costs them to send what they do. |
tammie24:If you're only getting approached by riff raffs, then something about your personality pushes reasonable guys away. It's not rocket science - even ugly babes dey get toaster. Besides marriage is not by force. Lots of unmarried women go on to live fulfilling lives. |
Aunty, it's not by prayer. Your expectations are either unreasonable, or there's something about you men don't find attractive. |
