Please, I need your opinion.
I applied for a year visa on the 14th July, 2023 for research and the checklist use for me was visitors exceeding 3 months checklist. I even called VFS when I was gathering my documents to ask if I need medical aid cover and they told me no... I don't need medical aid cover for this category of visa application. To my greatest surprise, my visa was denied on that ground. 'No medical aid cover attached". VFS PH called VFS Lagos to ask the reason for the denial when medical aid wasn't a requirement for visitors exceeding 3 months, they said... it was just a recent development (two weeks ago).

Now, they adjudicated my application submitted since July with a recent checklist ( they haven't even published it on their site).

I was told to appeal... Please, does appeal really work?

Thank you.

Congratulations!!! Thanks for the update....

Good day everyone,
I just received a message from VFS that I should submit my passport within 2 working day. I submitted my application on the 28/07/2023.
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Rachyekong: 9:56am On Oct 13, 2023
Exactly the point, I argued with them.... From my own understanding, it took 3weeks for my application to get to the High Commission. I hope, it won't take another 3weeks to get response, when the Embassy finalised my application.
koffeed:

Doesn't surprise me. Often at times when they received your application they input the information into their computer which then begins processing and sends you an update. Always be cautious that when it says your application has been forwarded to South African High Commission it doesn't mean it has left Vfs, it's just a formality to let you know it's ready to be submitted to SA embassy. Only when you receive the "received and under assessment at South African High Commission", should you believe it's finally at the said location.

This issue is not the first, Vfs not just with Nigeria but most countries tend to make this mistake. Very frustrating

No.... I only went there to know the exact time, my application was forwarded. They told me, that same day but I argued with them, because, the first two weeks of tracking, I saw... Your application has been forwarded to South African High Commission... I didn't track it throughout the third week... the fourth week, I got... Your application has been received and under assessment at South African High Commission.

I insisted, they should explain.... But, they couldn't even have good explanation... I angrily left them.
koffeed:

So let me understand this clearly, the entire three months your application was still at VFS until you went there before it was forwarded promptly?
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Rachyekong: 9:06am On Oct 13, 2023
Same here.... I applied in VFS, Port Harcourt exactly 3months today.... No response.... I even went there to ask them to be sure, they forwarded the application promptly.
wilcoxz:
Please who knows how South African visa can be fastracked. It's been more than 2 months I applied via VFS office at port Harcourt, haven't gotten any response since then. My scholarship expires in less than 2 months. What do you guys advise I should do?

Thanks for bringing my attention to this. It's unfortunate though that South African visa when applied at vfs in Abuja takes such a long time, for just a normal tourist visa is just not normal and ideal. Any tourist visa for that matter shouldn't take more than three months to obtain especially if it's just a tourist visa and not for a longer stay(business visa, or permanent residency visa).

Besides audits which does prolong issuance of visas at the embassies( they normally conduct audits 4 times in a year) or being short staffed often at times I don't see why it should take such a long time to issue a tourist visa to an individual.

Please, in a situation where the Host has been contacted for confirmation and yet, another three weeks have passed without response, is it still normal? The delay is tiring 😫

Notarized affidavit of facts.

Please, do I need to mention in my introduction letter or my new sponsor letter that, the initial sponsor couldn't continue as the time frame he wanted to give that sponsorship has elapsed.
Bursttt:

Well, so far it’s not appeal. It doesn’t matter! It’s a fresh application so it can be allowed just make sure there is sufficient Amount of funds in the sponsor account. What document did you submit for proof of relationship?
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Rachyekong: 6:59pm On Mar 11, 2023
Good evening house. I filed application for a year Study visa last year July and got response as at February but my Visa was refused.

My uncle was my sponsor and I submitted his bank statement and notarized document to proof of relationship.

Right now, I want to re apply but I want to change my sponsor.

Please, will the embassy consider the fact that, I am using a new sponsor account details?

Is applicant meant to keep money used as proof of funds for this long in the account
samtol4:
It Is a strong signal they want to reduce the number of Nigerians coming to SA. The message is loud & clear. Which embassy will hold the applicant's passport for ten months and later deny the application? There is no point coming to SA to study unless you have funding or a fee waiver

Good evening all...

Please, after printing bank statement, is it compulsory that the money must remain in the account till the high Commission takes decision on the Visa application.
