The Koran is so full of conflicting verses like that.

For example in some verses it says Muslims should show kindness to their parents no matter what even if they are disbelievers. In other verses, it says you should not show kindness to them if they are disbelievers or oppose Mohammed.

Koran 9:29: “Fight against Christians and Jews until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.”

Koran 5:51: “Don’t take Jews or Christians for friends. If you do, then Allah will consider you to be one of them.”
