Some people actually thought Lagos started in 1960 not knowing that even when Lagos had established its prime place of strategic importance, not even a single member of their tribe and some Nigerian tribes had ever stepped foot in Lagos. Smh.


Below is the Population Statistics Of Lagos British Colony In 1891

The population of Lagos Colony was analysed into 'Yoruba' and 'Non-Yoruba' tribes:

1. Eko tribe had fallen from 57% in 1872 to 23.6% 20 years later.
2. Popo or Egun tribe was 15.85%,

3. Other Yoruba groups
Oyo - 11.6%
Ijebu - 11.01%
Awori - 9.26%
Egba - 6.05%
Ijesha - 4.32%
Egbado - 3.63%
Ekiti/Efon people - 1.76%

4. Non-Yoruba groups
Nupe/Tapa - 1.86%
Hausa - 1.86%
The Kru - 1.37%.

The strength of the Eko tribe was concentrated in Wards A, B, C and D of Lagos Town and Harbour, and the Central District of Ebute Metta/Yaba.

The Aworis were concentrated in the Central District and the Popo's or Egun in the Western District.

Most Western powers we fear and revered can't compete militarily today after allowing 'wokeness' and lgtv to enter their arm forces. A good example is how America abandoned the war in Afghanistan and ran way. Had it been French troops in Niger attempted to fight during the coup, you all would've seen how the bodies of French soldiers will drag on the streets of Niamey. They are weak and can't compete effectively in ground battle. What the only have now is technology. Israel today is technically an European country nothing Hebrew about them and they're following on the footsteps of their Western brothers.

Any Israeli ground engagement on Hamas/Hesbollah dominated area will be catastrophic for them. The only edge they have now is air power which can't achieve much. Ground battle is necessary in gaining control.

The federal gov’t invested more of Nigerias’ commonwealth in Lagos than any other city in Nigeria….probably besides Abuja! So how TF do you expect self-made cities like Onitsha, Aba, Enugu, Calabar, etc, to compete in attracting the same level of investments with the likes of Lagos!? Calabar own is particularly instructive in that it almost has a similar aqua-geographical layout like Lagos and, as we’re told, was once the capital of Nigeria! So why hasn’t Calabar attracted even half of the attention and investments that Lagos attracts!?

Fact of the matter is Lagos has been so favoured by successive hegemonic gov’ts and their partners to the extent that it can now afford to drive its own development on its own steam!
