Business To BusinessWanted: Tippers For Lease/hiring In Lagos. by rainbowman(op): 7:50am On Jul 21, 2011
I recently got the link for a construction contract. The first stage involves lifting of laterite to lay the base of the road. I need at least 10 thirty tonne tippers for that purpose. The terms of the contract are favourable and will gurantee the interested company at least 30 k per day excluding fuel.
PoliticsRe: I'v Start Regreting Why I Voted For Gej. by rainbowman: 6:13pm On Apr 21, 2011
I've read most of your posts on the reaction to the violence in the North, however, we must appreciate that the crisis began in the middle of the electioneering period where most security personnel are on high alert performing tasks in order to preserve peace in other areas. It is most unfortunate that innocent people had to die, but your reaction is the intended response from the enemies of our nation intent on discrediting the governments ability to protect lives and property. It is most poignant to note that security forces were timely deployed from other parts of the country to reinforce other existing security arrangements almost immediately the crisis started and the immediate actions taken by the host governors which proves that the government of the day is reactive, smart and responsive. Most importantly we must understand the the deployment of soldiers, to crisis areas is alien to democracy and in most situation demands fulfilling lengthy legal obligations. On the whole I am of the opinion that the President reacted decisively to the threat and can only get better with time. Most importantly we must understand that the nature of this kind of threat is so fragile that careful considerations must be observed by the security agencies themselves because the hostile elements are Nigerians who too have a right to life thus using maximum force(shooting them) must be justified.
PoliticsRe: Cpc Lost Nass, But Presidential May Be Closer by rainbowman: 8:41pm On Apr 11, 2011
Just when I was being sold on the idea of Buhari-for-President, the retired general comes to Lagos to remind me of one more thing I have against him – not having the humility to say “I’m sorry” when he should.

Those two heart-melting words were all that were needed when Buhari faced the need to explain why his military government terminated the Lagos metro-line project which the civilian government of action-governor Lateef Jakande had initiated to ease transportation within Lagos and environs; and with it termination of the hope of millions of Lagos people and the west for an advancement in infrastructural standard.

Instead, an unyielding Buhari was pontificating bulls--t about wanting to limit the country’s borrowing as his Federal Govt was asked to guarantee the external loan for the project.

I say, without fear of contradiction, Buhari and his govt wouldn’t have dared cancel such a project were it in the north. And we could be guided to this opinion if we remember but two aspects of his regime where evenness was called for and Buhari and his government were found wanting. One was the preferential and deferential treatment meted to Alhaji Shehu Shagari, the head of the civilian government that Buhari and his junta ousted on the grounds of incompetence and corruption, whilst Shagari's vice, gentleman Dr. Alex Ekwueme, was treated most shabbily and unfairly. The other being the infamous 53-suitcase saga involving the Emir of Gwandu, suitcases reportedly loaded with foreign exchange imported at a time Buhari was jailing Fela Anikulapo-Kuti for bringing in his legitimate earnings from his overseas performance. There are several other instances but we pause.

Not only was the "Metroline Project" a sealed deal, cancellation of it brought substantial penalty unto the Lagos State government and the Buhari's Federal Military Government when they were taken to court by the foreign contractor who sought damages for the default. So, all considered, were I Buhari I would have said: “In retrospect, it was a myopic and regrettable step we took. I am sorry.”

No, not Buhari, not only was the military govt he headed lacking in intellect and visionary ideals, their retrogression beggars belief. How would any govt, even a military one, pass a law, give its contravention death penalty and make it retroactive enough to murder three young Nigerians whose offense did not carry death penalty at the time of its commission?

Apologise? No, not Buhari, on his high horse, hiding under some bogus collective responsibility!

Well, I tell him something, it is the mark of a great leader to apologise for actions that offend commonsense. “I’m sorry” adds to the man, it does not subtract!

You set a people back 50 years and you’re not sorry? Pssshhh.

The posts by most of the guys on this forum lacks substance and detailed analysis. You chose the easier route and attributed most of our successes and failures to the government of the day led by the PDP, while at the same time trapping yourselves with the silly view that the PDP is the problem of Nigeria which is not true. I am very sure that most of you do not live in Nigeria and from the comfort of your enclaves your biased views for all to read. In 1999 after the military regime, Nigeria had not even one working institution, the police, railways, the armed forces, even the NCAA and FAAN were all at the all time low in terms of equipment and quality of their personnel, all which was caused by the military incursion in politics which lasted for about 16 years. Military rule was characterized by the appointment of all manners of persons into positions of authority leading to the crash in our institutions. While the performance of the PDP is debatable, I have to say that they have tried to the best of their abilities given the Nigerian context to perform. Most opposition candidates are either off shoots of the PDP who have either lost out in the politics of the party or were indicted for various heinous crimes. You guys should try to at least visit Nigeria to see things for yourselves, while those of you in Nigeria should please vote for someone who offers solutions to our numerous problems. Remember that there is nothing idealistic in politics it is all about compromise.

PoliticsRe: Coup Speech Of Major-general Muhammadu Buhari, January 1, 1984 by rainbowman: 3:24pm On Mar 15, 2011
Democracy is about the people, not individuals, a strong leader can only lead only to the level that his followers are willing to follow him. However, more fearful is the possibility of having an aloof leader with a holier than thou posture towards issues, stern, unflinching and unwilling to see solutions as they are, relying more on his knowledge rather than consulting especially in areas where he is not vast. These are the more telling qualities of Gen Buhari, who singlehandedly overthrew a democratically elected government under the pretext of corruption thus leading us to the shit that we are now in. He betrayed his oath of allegiance to the Nation and the symbol of the nation which was, at that time, his President, Shehu Shagari, exploited his position as a Military Commander and took over the reigns of power and this break in continuity began a chain of events leading up to where we are right now in history. More worrisome is the fact that people are now clamoring for him to come back, it sends chills down my stomach, reminiscent of the events that led up to the rise of fearful civilian dictators such as Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini who rose as a result of the peoples search for immediate change. Now ask yourselves what could have happened if he did not over throw the civil dispensation i n 1983, the only result I can think of is that democracy, rule of law and the respect for human dignity would have been further entrenched rather than it is now. Change, everlasting change is gradual process and governance especially a democratic government is not a magic where a magician can pull a rabbit out of a hat. Gen Buhari is just a dictator with a superiority complex, look at his statements, I am on a rescue mission, I am going to change Nigeria, you guys are free to mortgage your freedom of expression, as for me and my house hold we prefer a sincere imperfect person like us, because perfection is only for God. We WILL VOTE GEJ!
PoliticsRe: Coup Speech Of Major-general Muhammadu Buhari, January 1, 1984 by rainbowman: 3:09pm On Mar 15, 2011
The last Federal Military Government drew up a programme with the aim of handing over political power to the civilians in 1979. This programme as you all know, was implemented to the letter. The 1979 constitution was promulgated. However, little did the military realise that the political leadership of the second republic will circumvent most of the checks and balances in the constitution and bring the present state of general insecurity. The premium on political power became so exceedingly high that political contestants regarded victory at elections as a matter of life and death struggle and were determined to capture or retain power by all means.

. . . . .

And now you the CIVILIANS want him back. All these BB supporters should all be ashamed of yourselves!!!

PoliticsRe: A Dissection Of Bb And Goodlucksambo Manifesto - Part 1 by rainbowman: 1:18pm On Mar 11, 2011
Mr 9ja man, you are obviously ignorant and ill informed, PDP is not the cause of Nigeria's problems, Akpanudoede, Olusegun Mimiko, Ibikunle Amosun, Ajimobu, Buba Marwa, Mohammed Abacha, Audu Ogbeh, Abike Sekibo, Timi Alaibe, Bello Masari, etc are all prominent members of the so called opposition who are all ex PDP members. Our Democracy is still developing and can best be described as being in its infant phase accordingly the ideologies of the political parties are not yet well developed, politicians defect to other parties at the slightest excuse particularly when it becomes apparent that the ambitions can not be achieved in that platform, rather than being patient and supporting their parties they choose to defect to other parties. In fact that BB manifesto was written long after the PDP manifesto had been written and was probably written by someone who had seen the PDP manifesto and opted to deceive the populace with lovely semantics which cannot be achieved. Please get your facts right about issues in Nigeria and take your idealistic, ideological and unrealistic write ups elsewhere. Nigeria is on the march to greatness, so you either join up or ship out.
PoliticsRe: Acn Shocks Pdp With Counter Rally In Lagos ! by rainbowman: 1:08pm On Mar 02, 2011
Mr Fashola stop pointing an accusing finger because the 4 other fingers point to you. Agreed the government of the day is corrupt, according to you but are you not also. 95 percent of roads in Lagos are either riddled with craters or unmotorable when it rains. You commissioned a Iju/Adiyan waterworks without a pipe gallery that would feed water to the populace. LASU is still one of the worst Universities in Nigeria, doctors are still on strike, your public schools are very poor etc Fashola please stop work on your state.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Bakare Manifesto - The Best Ever! by rainbowman: 2:45pm On Feb 24, 2011
A really well written unrealistic manifesto. The power sector problem can only be solved when power distribution, transmission and probably generation is in the hands of private individuals any manifesto that states otherwise is only trying to take advantage of our naivety and would set us back some years just like Yardua. This is because PHCN as it is is infested with very funny individuals who refuse to provide electricity to particular neighborhoods unless the neighborhood chairman calls them to offer some sort of inducement. Communities contribute money to buy transformers for PHCN from PHCN stores and these transformers become property of the PHCN after installation, I mean have you ever heard of someone buying a mast for glo, MTN, etisalat? Please be realistic, bb team is just behaving like largerback telling the people the sweet things they want to hear. By the way for all you team bb lovers, ask the gentleman whether he built any power stations or even conducted TAMS on any of them when he was in power for 24 months. We need realistic solutions to our problems not sweetly articulated fallacies.
PoliticsRe: Let's Give GEJ A Chance by rainbowman: 4:35pm On Feb 07, 2011
Changee is a slow process and it is currently happening in our darling country Nigeria. Things are changing and it will only get better. This ruse that GEJ is clueless was sold on this forum by persons campaigning for other candidates however the real Nigerians out there know that things will only get better and they are in fact feeling the effects on the GEJ wind of change. Saying that he has not achieved anything is not true, Aoonda Akaah was sacked in his tenure, Nuhu Ribadu's charges were dropped and not only did he return, he is now campaigning to become President, the ongoing voter's registration though partly successful was fully sponsored by his adminstration, fuel scarcity is a thing of the past, the Sovereign Wealth Fund Bill, the Empoyee rights bill, relief for flood victims in Sokoto, Zamfara and Lagos, the final and legal winding up of PHCN, the Committee to look into our Educational system and propose a way forward was inaugurated by the GEJ admin. Yeah, the power situation has not improved much but things are looking brighter because there is finally a proposal for a way out of the problem. You all can continue raising your fundamentalist yearns but I do not see any of the other candidates giving a viable option. We need continuity and I will gladly VOTE FOR GEJ.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Appoints Ojukwu's Wife As Special Assistant by rainbowman: 1:10pm On Jan 27, 2011
Its quite upsetting that up till now most Nigerians behave as if they know it all, firstly this appointment was not created for Bianca, it was already in existence before. Secondly, she would have been nominated before the appointment, if not why am I not a political appointee. Therefore, someone, well respected saw some good qualities in her enough to merit her been given that appointment. Thirdly, why at this age would even fellow women folk feel that the appointment of a woman is based on her ability to satisfy a sitting Presidents libido. I mean that is just disgusting. The fact that we have freedom to express ourselves now is very beautiful but that does not mean that we should use that to abuse our leaders at any given opportunity because this is just allowing people not from this country to view our leaders as inept people. And talking about leadership, a leader need not be strong physically, eloquent or handsome it all depends on his ability to perform given some circumstances, to be fair to him GEJ has done well since becoming the C in C mind you, he has not even spent up to one year in power and he has had to contend with crisis after crisis coupled with our pessimistic criticism that seeks to read ulterior motives over his good intentions, oooo he is this, ooo he did that. Let us learn to respect our leaders for a change after all during the Abacha years you could get arrested for making such comments or did you even have a lap top, phone or all our comfy gadgets thenhuh?
