Boss what's your experience trading the smart money concept?

Interestingly, I followed my rules and trade strategy if I may call it that.

Not more than 0.20 lots of any open trade. I don't even trade it everyday and it will end 26th of this month and I have one more day to complete five trading days minimum.

I have stoploss applied to each of my trade and I don't shift it for any reason.

I just relax myself and I get the results I want.

It seems slowly and steadily is key for me. And no pressure of someone overtaking you.

About ICT...although I am not a student of his neither am I a follower, there is something I learnt from one of his students. She said that ICT is a vast encyclopedia of concepts. You don't need all his concepts according to her. You just need two concepts: one to determine bias and another to determine entry...the rest are unnecessary. She said she doesn't even trade order blocks the way many do. So, I hope that can help. Have you tried doing that?[/color]

Yea, that's where the issue is though. I follow the SMART MONEY CONCEPT but still getting hit. I have a lot to learn honestly..

[color=indigo]Actually, VSA is a concept that should be learnt, not an indicator. Besides, a VSA trader does not need any fancy volume indicator for trading. The MT4 volumes indicator is more than enough. It is just like learning ICT concepts but the difference is that unlike ICT you don't need videos to start. Just one pdf by Tom Williams will do. And I must warn you, it does not tell you...press buy button if you see this or hit sell button if price does that.... It takes effort (serious one) to study it. Just warning you in advance. Thanks a lot boss! I just downloaded the e-book. Would study it all nights. I been following the ICT concept for while, but I'm still struggling to win trades as I'm almost always getting stopped out.

I have been using it on XAUUSD HTF and it works, but, using the concept on BTCUSD I'm always getting stopped out... I'm still grinding all night to get these things right.

Okay, what is the trend? Big Big question. I don't know if what I will describe will be of help to anyone but this is me and how I have been researching the market.

Before I begin, let me categorically state that I am still learning and growing. I make no claim to any fake mastery of the markets. I must not be a guru (is there even such a thing?) before I tell anyone how I view the market.

That said. I have noticed that there are thousands of ways to identify the trend that suits each person's personality but I found, to my disappointment, that they never worked for me especially owing to the fact that I hate indicators with passion and trading with laptop...using a laptop restricts my freedom and flexibility hence I went hunting for a system that can tell me how to identify the trend and that wouldn't need any indicator or even if it did at all it should be available on the mobile platform.

I found VSA — Volume Spread Analysis made popular by Tom Williams. It uses the volume of the market and spread of the candle to determine weakness or strength in the market. It doesn't talk about the so-called trend. It talks about trading with the Smart Money or Professionals who manipulate the markets. They always try to hide their footprints or positions by misleading the public but the volume and spread give them away so that traders can actually know what they are up to. Volume is the Key to the Truth is a popular phrase among VSAers (VSA traders).

Trading the trend means trading with the Professionals or Smart Money. I have tried moving averages to determine the trend, stochastics, donchian channel, and others but they failed to help me understand the intent of the market. The only one I know that is reasonable in the determination of the trend is the Dow Jones method of price structure. However, it is a start. We need more than that. This is where VSA comes in for me.

I don't want to give the impression that VSA is easy to learn. It has taken me a very long time to get to the stage I am now and am still far from mastering it but it does tell me the most important thing indicators cannot tell — the intent of the Professionals. It has been really difficult studying this but the hard work I put to studying it is really paying off for me.

The trend is how the trader sees the market. I see it through volume and spread of the market. Gosh...apologies for the long post. I had to make sure my explanation does not suffer from a lack of clarity.[/color]

My advice for you sir in the mean time is.

1. Stop over trading: If you nor place any trade in a day you nor go die
2. Stop trading against major trend
3. Always draw your support, resistance level and trend line before placing trades.
4. If a trade hits your trendline, exit until it realigns with the support level of ur major trend. Warning: Don't trade against major trend, there are a wide variety of markets to choose from.
5. Don't place a trade until it crosses your support level. When it does, place a trade with 50pips SL and 100pips TP i.e leave trade until it hits your target or your trendline.
6. Always be on look out for currencies following major trend
7 If all currencies don't follow major trend, which is unlikely, depend on signals from a reliable source with a sharp SL and TP. You can't force trades, at this point depend on someone who's credible enough to trade against major trends. Ensure all your trades from this source have a sharp SL and TP.

no be lie my bro .. I normally trade between 0.50 to 1.00 lots back then ..even on a 10k account.. but things changed after I met the competition rules. Lol .. I had to do some adjustments.

There are always days of long winning streaks. Keep doing the right thing and gain more pips that will keep you through the long lossing streak.
I have been demo trading XAU since April and I hardly lost . Each winning trade returns 1:4:5
So in all this, don't feel like you're now a King cos that will be beginning of your margin call once you go live

This can only happen if you are overtrading while using big lot size at the same time.

As a rule of thumb, don't allow your margin percentage to be below 500. The higher it is the better.

Forex is a marathon not a sprint race. Stay long enough in the market and you will easily recover your losses and make enough profits while at it.

Don't buy sell. Let your stoploss be your friend. Don't allow it to be too tight and don't adjust it once set. Good luck.
