Oshiite: Why not change nigeria to abiola ![]() All the naming stuff is just to cause confusion.... |
This is not a bad idea........ |
THE Federal Government has been urged to name the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, after the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential poll. The call was made yesterday by a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Moshood Oshun Kasimawo. Kasimawo who is the House’s Committee Chairman on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and member representing Lagos Mainland Constituency II, also called for a Sovereign National Conference. The lawmaker, who spoke to The Guardian added: “June 12 is the real Democracy Day and called on the Federal Government to declare the day a national public holiday.” He added: “To sustain democracy in this country, we also need to have a Sovereign National Conference, it is important for the unity of this country. We need to go back to the round-table. Even the constitution, there are so many things we need to change. “The composition of our parties, we need to sit down and look at how we want the country to be governed. We should bring out the best of our brains to channel a pathway for this country. We should also talk about the sharing formula, which is nothing to write home about.” http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=89134:lawmaker-urges-aso-rock-named-after-abiola-&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |

The underlying statement here is that our so called leaders even after looting billions of naira will go to church or mosque and pray that the country gets better. How can God hear the prayers coming from these kinds of people? |
What are we praying for? |
A bímọ kò gbọ́n, a ní kó má ṣàá kú; kí ní ńpa ọmọ bí àìgbọ́n? (A child lacks wisdom, and some say that what is important is that the child does not die; what kills more surely than lack of wisdom?) Pray--to offer devout petition, praise, thanks to (God or an object of worship), plead: to call upon for help, entreat. Enemy--A person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another: an adversary, an assailant, foe, attacker, and a bad person. So praying for Nigeria's enemies implies offering devout petition for a person that feels hatred for Nigeria, pleading for help from a high deity to deal with a person that engages in antagonistic activities against Nigeria and her people, praying for Nigeria's enemies means calling for some form of help to deal with harmful persons. It is in this light that I pen this admonishment, sitting in the back pew; it was one of those revival services conducted by one of those Nigerian "god of men". He had finished his sermon, in my heart I reflected on how many million Nigerians were in church that Sunday morning, add that to the millions that were at Jumma services a Friday earlier and those whose worship days are other days and Saturdays. I had lost count of the prayers that have been said and the spiritual reflections since the Dana Air Crash, I wondered why we are still the way we are, with all the problems of the world bearing down our neck. The speaker had talked about praying for our leaders. He said that it was unfortunate 13 years of democracy we still suffered leadership deficit. He lamented the poor quality of leaders, and the lack of focus, he complained about citizenry too, for a ‘penterascal’ preacher I was pleasantly surprised. After 30 minutes we were asked to stand up, I did and a prayer minister, one beautiful fair damsel instructed us (congregation) to pray for Nigeria. I did, I always do anyway, after few minutes, she asked that we pray, bind and strangely again loose our enemies. I was struck as I watch the drama. The muttering started, others wailed, some were even crying. The minister, that's what she was called, kept screening intermittently into the microphone--Pray, pray, tell God to destroy them. Well not to be left out, I snapped out and prayed I did--There was nothing to loose in praying. Our leaders won’t work but pray and attend prayer fellowships--You too reading this, please pray. Civil servants after committing all sorts of crimes will still pray. Students will not read, they are told to pray for retentive memory and bind the demon of failure and the rest is simplista! Our football teams and sports representatives do not make preparations for tournaments, they just lazy up, about and around and ask Nigerians to pray for them. An airplane dropped from the sky because rather than do the right thing we were praying--Hence with leaders like ours, who were ever ready to loot, and destroy ...looking for enemies was no hard task, Father Lord punish and destroy them, I prayed and petitioned 'my God' to punish all those looting Nigeria, I prayed for His vengeance on members of the Judiciary, Executive, Legislatives that were part of the lootocracy. I called on the terrestrials above to punish even to five generations those who through their actions insist that Nigerians will not have constant, reliable electricity. I beseeched the god of my ancestors to punish in full measure, leaders, teachers, professors, parents that have contributed to a fallen standard of education. Those that have contributed to the educational rot, I asked Ifa to make sure they watch their wards rot away. Be they in PDP, CPC, ACN, JNI, CAN, traditional institutions, youth bodies, and opinion leaders and all that trouble Nigeria and conspire to keep it perpetually on her knees. I prayed that Orumila expose them, bring them to justice as we have by our actions accepted that we cannot do anything much but pray. I prayed against those enemies that are responsible for potholes, death traps on our roads, that theirs to will meet their waterloo in those roads that they could have facilitated its repair but choose to turn a blind eye to. While we face hard and trying times, tightening belts in almost disappearing waists, I prayed that those whose harmful designs of cannibalistic theft has denied the larger populace quality healthcare, infrastructural development, clean and portable water, good roads and functional education will be cut off in gruesome manner, like horror movies their lives will be a crate of unprecedented disaster both in public and private. Enemies of Nigeria, I screamed, may they be beseeched with problems beyond them. You are a contractor, you have collected the upfront, shared it with the ruling party, the governor's wife, son and aides, and the drugs were not supplied--God will hammer you o! I shouted, you are a rapist, a kidnapper, an armed and pen robber. You sell question papers for qualifying exams, you are a crooked pastor, imam and voodoo priest, may the Almighty Allah reward you in same portion you have dealt others with... I was now sweating, and the fair lady, signaled for us to stop. I did, like many of us; we sang some songs of victory. She told us that God has answered our prayers and that the devil was in trouble in Nigeria--I pondered over that last comment and thinking, a foolish child is not much better than a dead child. I walked away wondering if God answered these prayers, many of us would curse rather than pray for Nigeria's enemies because that's what they deserve. The day cometh when action backed prayers will be said, no one will escape that day...time will tell. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/praying-nigerias-enemies-prince-charles-dickson |

Putting on the finishing touches: Bart Jansen, left, made the cat contraption with radio control helicopter flyer Arjen Beltman, pictured right

Many animal lovers find it hard to part with their pets when they die. So when cat Orville, named after the famous aviator Orville Wright, was run over by a car, his artist owner decided to turn him into a permanent piece of artwork as the ultimate tribute by transforming him into a flying helicopter. Dutch artist Bart Jansen first stuffed Orville before teaming up with radio control helicopter flyer Arjen Beltman to build a specially-designed flying mechanism to attach to the cat. Paws for thought: Cat Orville was turned into a helicopter by his artist owner Bart Jansen, pictured right, after he was run over by a car Flying high: Bart Jensen has dubbed his cat art The Orvillecopter Moving art: The Orvillecopter is on display in a gallery during at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam Cat overhead: Radio control helicopter flyer Arjen Beltman, pictured back right, controls The Orvillecopter Jansen said the Orvillecopter is 'half cat, half machine', and part of a visual art project to pay tribute to his cat Orville. Jansen, part of the art cooperative Generaal Pardon, said: 'After a period of mourning he received his propellers posthumously.' He added that Orville will soon be 'flying with the birds' stating: 'Oh how he loved birds. He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. So this hopping will soon change into steady flight.' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2154283/Cats-away-Artist-turns-dead-pet-flying-helicopter-killed-car.html#ixzz1x1NMuujR

I think we as Nigerians should open our eyes more to see what is really going on in the country. There is no smoke without fire. |
Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Nasir el-Rufai yesterday alleged the Federal Government of being responsible for the continuous bombing in the Northern states region. El-Rufai who made this accusation while granting an interview with “BBC” said that government’s involvement was a diversionary measure. He alleged that Jonathan always ordered Boko Haram to embark on bombings, whenever corruption in his government was about to expose to the masses. “This will assist the government to change the attention of the masses on the Boko Haram’s activities rather than anxiously waiting to protest or sue the government for corruption” He said. He recalled that Boko Haram engaged on daily basis bombings when the report of House of Representatives Committee on fuel subsidy came out. He said,“We have to start accusing the government because anytime we are in this problem, like when the Farouk committee in the House of Representatives came out with its report on the fuel subsidy scam, at that time they started coming out with bombs all over. “Therefore….we keep on asking the government : ‘ why is it whenever they have problem, that is when those they call Boko Haram will start bombing. Or are they working together? “They are yet to give us an answer; there are many other things which up till now, there is no explanation. Every Nigerian knows that two years ago, there was rest of mind and he could sleep well at home. But today, there is no rest of mind, things have deteriorated. “The economy has deteriorated; salaries are delayed in the Federal Civil Service. Since I left Abuja last week, April salary was not paid. That of March was paid in May, even the monthly allocation to states, they were unable to pay. We don’t know where the money is going so the economy is in trouble”. The former Minister also alleged that the federal government has been receiving $1billion loans on every months. He urged the masses to visit the website of the Debt Management Office (DMO) to verify his claim. “We calculated and I wrote on it in the paper, nobody came out to say it is not true. Every month since Jonathan became the President, on the average, every month he takes $1 billion loan. The Debt Management Office published it, it is a government office. So, I am not just saying it. Even last month, the Federal Government sold bond,” But reacting to this, the political adviser to the President, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak dismissed the allegation, saying it is callous and unreasonable. He urged Nigerians not to take the allegations of the former minister seriously as they were baseless and not true. He described the allegations as “just an outburst from the opposition camp which cannot hold water. It is the figment of his imagination, it is not true. “Every right thinking person will not listen to that and will never agree with what El-Rufa’i is saying. This is because they are so extreme in their opposition. For example, ministers came out some days ago and they reeled out all the achievements and successes of governments. “In the next two months, you will see trains shuttling between Lagos and Northern Nigeria, God willing. Everybody knows that road construction is on. Is that not so? Look at the education sector, we have gone far”. Please do not hesitate to leave your opinion in the comment section below. Really went bad o........40 undercover policemen were waiting for them since the bank opened. They didnt stand a chance. |
The messed up part about all this is that I go to this bank sometimes 3 times a day and I know these boys very well. One of them didnt even look like he needed the money. What is Nigeria turning into.... |
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 11 armed robbery suspects including five workers of Guaranty Trust Bank. One of the workers, a senior marketing executive of the bank’s branch in Gbagada, is currently being interrogated by detectives at the state’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad. According to reports made available to PUNCH Metro, the senior marketing executive allegedly conspired with two security personnel of the bank and two other staff to perpetrate the robbery of a customer who was to deposit some money running into millions of naira. The bank workers were said to have invited one Sadiq, believed by the police to be a notorious armed robber in the state, who in turn invited six other members of his gang. The gang allegedly procured guns in Lagos and ordered for more from Edo State. The robbery was foiled when policemen through intelligence report got information of the planned robbery. The policemen stormed the bank premises incognito on the day the robbery was to take place. It was learnt that one of the suspects had told the police that their weapons including two pistols were already concealed in the bank’s Computer Central Processing Unit with plans to use them on the day of the robbery. The robbers who pretended to be customers of the bank had dressed in suits while Sadiq wore a kaftan. But they did not know that plain-clothed policemen had cordoned off the area while some other policemen were in the banking hall. A police source said, “The suspected robbers got more than what they expected when detectives rounded them up and whisked them to the state police command headquarters.” One of the suspects further confessed that the bank’s marketing executive gave them money to procure the arms and ammunition. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, confirmed the arrest in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Wednesday. He, however, said further investigations were still ongoing with a view of ensuring that all those connected with the incident were arrested. Jaiyeoba said, “The employees of the bank that were arrested were actually four in number. They planned with the security guard who then recruited armed robbers for them. “The security guard’s job was to plant the guns inside the CPU of the computer so that when the armed robbers came in, they would be able to enter as normal customers. “The robbers planned to rob after closing hours when customers were no longer allowed access into the banking hall. The commander, MOPOL 2, was able to get wind of the plan and led his team to the bank. “They arrested the security guard who later confessed and gave his accomplices up. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing.” http://www.punchng.com/metro/five-bank-employees-arrested-for-attempted-robbery/ |
Ruthabokoku: Thanks guys..I can't thank you enough.I know its hard at the moment but I think your husband possesses a skill that is not typical of a lot of Nigerians. If he is a good handyman like you think, in order to make it legal and more professional, he should go get certified or get some hands-on training as an HandyMan. He can even chose specialist jobs like fixing A/C & Heaters, Plumbing, Painter etc.............Some of these guys make more than 100k a year.. I guarantee if you guys advertise all over church and to everyone you know, he will start getting work. PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AT THIS JOB AS DEGRADING AND DONT WONT YOUR FRIENDS TO KNOW HE IS A HANDYMAN..............Those guys especially the Mexicans in the US drive the best cars and their wives never work. Get you husband to look into this skill and you guys will be singing a different tune within a year. Good luck and God bless. |
All is ready for Anambra State to join the league of oil-producing states in the country, as Orient Petroleum Resources Plc is to commence the production of crude any moment from now. Chairman, Board of Directors of the company and former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, announced this while inspecting the company’s facilities at Aguleri Otu with Governor Peter Obi, Dr Alex Ekwueme, Managing Director of Orient Petroleum, Engr Emeka Nwoawka, Igwe Peter Anukwu of Mbaukwu and other stakeholders yesterday. Anyaoku said the company was ready to start production of crude in a couple of weeks, which would mark the first time crude is produced in inland basin in the country. He disclosed that the company’s service contractor had made significant progress in the acquisition of high resolution 3D seismic data over 640 square kilometres of Orient’s oil blocks OPL 915 & 916 to delineate the full extent of the hydrocarbon discoveries and prospects. The team also inspected the 20-kilometre access road to the oil wells and the 10-kilometre flow line for evacuating crude to a spot at Anambra River basin, from where evacuation of crude will be undertaken by barges to Brass in Bayelsa State. The company, according to Anyaoku, had equally finalised the detailed engineering and sourced the modules of its 55,000 bpd refinery. It had also completed the geotechnical, geological and hydro-geological surveys and civil engineering works for installation of refinery equipment. Orient Petroleum had also completed acquisition of seven hectares of land from Kogi State for establishment of depot for distribution of petroleum products from the refinery to the North and other parts of the country. Conducting the delegation round the facilities, the Managing Director of Orient Petroleum gave assurance that Anambra would soon join the club of oil-producing states. He thanked Governor Obi for his interest in the project and appealed to him to continue to support it. He said the drilling environment conformed to international standards. Responding, Obi commended the Board of Orient Petroleum for its resilience and determination to bring the project on stream. He said that when functional, the company would, among other things, create employment, fast-track overall development of the host community as well as contribute in strengthening the State and national economy. He assured of continued government support for the project. Earlier, the Board of Orient Petroleum Plc had paid a courtesy visit to Governor Obi at the Government House before proceeding on the inspection http://www.igbolandforum.com/index.php?topic=1025.0
