semid4lyfe: Another money miss road and dead on arrival project.

Wetin dey make all these Naija celebrities think sey dem get star power and people go buy their products just cos their names are attached to them? huh undecided

Reminds me of Rugged Man and that his 20th September clothing line that died even before it was launched. grin Till today, I never jam anyone wey wear hin design.

Nigerians no send celebrity endorsements. . .just ask GLOBACOM

Lest I forget, Ini needs to shed some weight. She could also do with a a better stylist and make-up artist
I think you are forgetting this is one of the A-list Nollywood actress and as you might probably realise, Nollywood makes the bulk of their money OUTSIDE of Nigeria. First of all these people are featured on the popular African Cable network DSTV 24hrs........... They are international stars now not just Nigerian actors........Please look outside of the box........ Her market is global and I am even surprised that all the Nigerian actors do not have 1 or 2 product line in their names....

I currently work in Angola and I tell you all these folks know all the Nigerian actors by name even if they do not speak english. The movies are shown on DSTV Cable network and sub-titled in portuguese. I believe Ini Edo is on the right track and she will sell very well around Africa as long as she has good management and distribution.

I suspect you are still in secondary school living under your parents roof and not aware of the realities of life for making that statement. Or better still you must be in the US or UK visiting Nigeria every 5years for 2 weeks with your parents.

Were you in Nigeria Jan 2012 during the Oil subsidy crisis? What happened to the biggest players in Subsidy scandal who stole TRILLIONS OF NAIRA in one year? NOTHING......What happened with Femi Otedola and Farouk Lawan bribery circus show? NOTHING.......and you are saying Nigeria is not a JOKE......My friend Open your eyes.......Other countries are taking their presidents to court and throwing them in jail not to talk of a regular business man or politician........The whole country is a CIRCUS SHOW going round and round with no intentions of stopping..........from our Ring Master GEJ down to the Nigerians on the street.........The whole system is on cruise control with NOBODY controlling it and nothing in the horizon of the country getting better

When my turn go come? huhhuhhuhhuhhuh?
CelebritiesRich Kids Behaving Badly On Instagram by rakumiii(op): 8:54am On Aug 16, 2012
First came Paris Hilton. Then the documentary about heirs of the One Percent, "Born Rich," and MTV's series "My Super Sweet 16." Now comes the dot-com version of silver-spoon voyeurism: "The Rich Kids of Instagram."

The blog on Tumblr features photos set in gilded frames of rich kids and wanna-bes in various states of excess, UnCloth and indulgence, and ever since its launch last month, "The Rich Kids of Instagram" has touched off a firestorm of debate over rich kids and social media.

One shot shows three teens swimming at a lake - and pouring Dom Perignon into one other's mouths. Another shows a guy sticking a giant foam finger out of his Ferrari, while in another kids slide down a giant inflatable slide attached to the side of their mega-yacht.

The site also marks the debut of a whole new genre: "receipt porn." Some posts consist of a photograph of a 100,000-euro meal receipt from St. Tropez or a $42,000 bar bill.

Dom Perignon also features prominently throughout: being poured on heads, being poured into a spaghetti sauce and being paired with a hot dog (and girl with bikini) "at poolside." The site might as well be called "Dom Gone Wild" (since bikinis also feature prominently).

The captions would be the stuff revolutions are built on - if the whole site were not so proudly and ridiculously superficial. There is a shot of a guy getting off a yacht with the caption "How else do u expect to get around in the Hamptons."

A shot of five dudes in a private jet bears the caption "Flying private with friends." Shoes, watches and jewelry make up the bulk of the shots, and there is one shot captioned, "All my Amex," exhibiting a gold card, black card and platinum card. Another depicts a guy wearing a necklace made of money.

That's not to mention the photos that have been taken off the site for being, well, too much. According to Bloomberg, Michael Dell's daughter Alexa posted a photo of her brother, Zachary, enjoying a feast on their private-jet flight to Fiji. Alexa has also been tweeting information about her schedule and shopping plans, creating a potential security risk. The photo and some of her over-sharing was taken down.

What to make of all this? The site has generated more than its share of scolding and class warfare on the web. Rebecca Greenfield writes in The Atlantic that "Preteens posing with helicopters they did nothing to earn and posting the pictures online for others to ogle provides an easy in for commentary on the state of the American dream. (Dead.)"

But let's be real: many of the kids on "Rich Kids of Instagram" are not really rich. And most of the stuff they're doing is not all that unusual - like wearing a suit and sunglasses. Most of the photos are just young people partying by pools or nightclubs.

The site's founder, contacted by email, wants to remain anonymous. "We find anonymity is a hard thing to replace," they wrote. Regarding the site's popularity and mission, the founder said it's "more popular than most ideas that take shape over a few glasses of wine. It's going well."

He/she added that the site has taken down "a few" photos.

Like the "Housewives" and other stars of rich-reality shows, the "Rich Kids of Instagram" is as much of a frivolous pose as it is a real window into the lives of rich kids. Those real lives, no doubt, would not always be as interesting or photogenic.

Did you notice the post I had right above yours? It show statistics of 10 of the major cities in the US. Check it out and do a little bit of your research before making your decision. There is a reason flocks of people migrate to a city. Lots of folks are migrating from New York and California to Texas. More job oppurtunities, better standard of living, you will get a lot of house space for a lot less.

Just saw this online.......... grin

Houston is known for many things: oil, NASA, urban sprawl and business-friendly policies. But the Texas city deserves to be known for something else: coolness.

The Bayou City may not be the first place you associate with being hip or trendy. But Houston has something many other major cities don’t: jobs. With the local economy humming through the recession, Houston enjoyed 2.6% job growth last year, and nearly 50,000 Americans flocked there in response — particularly young professionals. In fact, the median age of a Houston resident is a youthful 33.

The result? Over the past decade, the dreary corporate cityscape — pictured above — has been quietly transforming. Stylish housing developments have popped up downtown, restaurants have taken up residence in former factories and art galleries like the Station Museum have been inhabiting warehouses.

Combine that with a strong theater scene, world-class museums and a multicultural, zoning-free mashup of a streetscape and you have the recipe for the No. 1 spot on Forbes’ list of America’s Coolest Cities To Live.
Yahoo! Homes is publishing the top 10 here. You can find the rest of the top 20 at Forbes.com:

Behind the Numbers

“Cool” is defined by Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as “very good; fashionable.” Of course what, exactly, is good and fashionable is very much in the eye of the beholder. We sought to quantify it in terms of cities, ranking the 65 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas and Metropolitan Divisions (areas that include cities and their surrounding suburbs that are defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget) based on seven data points weighted evenly.

Sperling’s Best Places helped us calculate the number of entertainment options per capita in each metro area. We also ranked the cities based on other recreational opportunities, including the amount of green space, the cost and number of outdoor activities like golfing and skiing available, and the number of pro and college sports teams.

With the help of Sperling’s, we tallied restaurants and bars per capita, weeding out chain establishments – Applebee’s has less sizzle than a local chef’s bistro.

We also looked at each city’s cultural composition using Sperling’s Diversity Index. It measures the likelihood of meeting another person of a different race or ethnicity. Increased diversity tends to lead to a larger assortment of interesting shops, restaurants and events.

Using the most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau, we factored in median age, favoring places with a large young adult population.

We ranked the cities based on net migration (the number of people who relocated there in 2011) and also on unemployment rates, since a city’s offerings are only as good as the amount of people who want and can to afford to enjoy them. (No one likes to hang out in an empty bar, right?) We culled this data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Moody’s Analytics.

Houston is joined in our top 20 by four other Lone Star metro areas: Dallas ranked fourth; San Antonio, 11th; Fort Worth, 13th; and Austin, 19th. They all boast strong economies, large young adult populations and relatively high levels of cultural diversity.

Second on our list is Washington, D.C. With federal spending strong, the nation’s capital sailed through the recession with low unemployment and an influx of newcomers. Many of those newcomers have, like Houston, been young adults. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, residents in their 20s and early 30s make up about a third of the metro area’s population – 23% more than in 2000.

Washington also scored high thanks to its melting pot of a population, a large selection of local eateries and watering holes, and a host of activities that range from Smithsonian museums to music concerts. Washington reportedly hosts more festivals and events than any other U.S. city, according to Destination DC.

Perhaps not surprisingly, many of America’s priciest cities also made the cut: Los Angeles ranked third, San Francisco came in ninth and New York took 10th. “Established places like New York … have a built-in cool crowd,” says Bert Sperling, founder of Sperling’s Best Places. “They are like adult playgrounds, and people go there for good food and interesting events.”

In general the cities on our list fall into one of two categories: established (typically wealthier) cities (like New York, Los Angeles, even D.C.) and up-and-coming places whose low costs of living and/or strong economies have been attracting artists and young adults who can’t afford to live in the former. Up-and-coming metro areas that made our list include D.C.’s neighbor to the north, Baltimore (No. 14), and New York’s neighbor to the southwest, Philadelphia (No. 15).

“Baltimore is in transition because it has been down and out for a long time but it’s beginning to come back because it’s affordable,” says Sperling. “[And] Philadelphia had been forgotten, but now it’s being referred to as the Sixth Borough.”

Methodology

We attempted to quantify 'coolness' for the 65 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas and Metropolitan Divisions (areas that include cities and their surrounding suburbs as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget) based on seven data points we weighted evenly. Sperling’s Best Places helped us calculate the number of entertainment options per capita with an Arts & Culture Index (100 is the best score); recreational opportunities, including the amount of green space, quality of outdoor activities available, and the number of pro and college sports teams (again, (100 is the best score); and number of restaurants and bars per capita, with a focus on local eateries. We also looked at each city’s cultural composition using Sperling’s Diversity Index (100 is the best). We included median age, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, favoring places with a large young adult population. Lastly, we looked at net migration for 2011 and unemployment rates, using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Moody’s Analytics. TravelRe: Relocating To Texas by rakumiii(m): 7:42am On Aug 14, 2012
http: Am Planning my relocation from Ohio to Texas, any Nairalander in Texas? I need info about safe areas where you can raise family, quite neighborhood, Job prospect interm of industries that are triving in Houston, Dalas and other cities and cost of living for a single guy.

Please your contribution is highly appreciated.
As a man, there is one very important factor you want to keep in mind when relocating anywhere in the world. How marketable will your profession really be in that city? If you get laid off today, can you be employed again within 2-3 weeks? This might look like a simple reason or excuse but believe me, when you got a wife and 3 kids in school, everything else is small compared to having a steady source of income.

If you are in the oil & gas profession, petroleum, chemical etc....hands down Houston is the place to be.

If you in IT, Houston is probably still the best as far as pay but you can still consider Dallas or Austin (if you are running away from Nigerians).

If you are into Finance or Wall Street type industry, I dont think Texas is the best place for you to be. You will have to go to the East coast for that.

At the end of it all, the decision to relocate still boils down to where we can get our daily bread and butter. And ofcourse wherever you move to, your wife has to be happy with it if not, you will be moving back.... grin grin

It is unfortunate that they were beaten like that but in a country like Nigeria, Africa.........they need to make a glamorous spectacle of armed robbers so that onlookers who have intentions of doing the same thing would think twice about it........this example is not just for GTB......it is for all banks in Lagos.......reality of it is these armed robbers will kill any innocent person who gets in their way so this is nothing compared to what they would have done if the tables were turned.........
RomanceAll In A Day’s Work by rakumiii(op): 9:32am On Aug 13, 2012
I like the story below......very beautiful..just felt like sharing...enjoy

It was around 2am when Temitope finally managed to get some sleep. Her mind was filled with thoughts of her fiancé, Ayokunle. His chiseled face, his brown eyes, his warm smile. She had spent most of the day looking at his photo. For the first time, they had not spent the weekend together. He was too busy, he had said. Poor Temitope, how lonely she had been through the day!

As she fell deeper in slumber, out of nowhere she heard familiar strains of music. She opened her eyes but couldn’t find anything. Where was it coming from? There was a gentle knock on the main door and Temitope wondered if she was dreaming or was it for real?

She got up but felt so light and free that she looked down at herself. “When did I wear this dress,” she asked herself. The white short dress on her was so transparent without the wrap that one could see right through it – her beautiful body, her back, her shoulders, the small heart pendant in the chain round her neck and a pair of diamond earrings peeping through her beautiful dark brown hair. She had simply forgotten to change before going to bed – she had dressed to go out with Ayokunle.

She started to move towards the door when she heard a jingle sound and something tickled her on her wrist. She saw it was a small chain with a blue diamond around her wrist. All this seemed weird but she liked how she looked. So with no more hesitation she went and opened the door. Ayokunle was there standing at the door, with a smile on his face. Ayokunle looked so handsome with his brown eyes that Temitope did not know what to say.

“I must be dreaming,” Temitope thought as her eyes glowed with joy. Her heart beat so fast that she thought it would explode. Ayokunle was hesitating at the door, hesitating to come inside. He kept his eyes on her, he couldn’t think or talk as he too was lost in her beautiful eyes. She was glowing, she looked so happy, she was his angel, his goddess, and she was there in front of him. All he wanted was to take her in his arms and kiss her. Yet he dared not touch her fearing it would break her into a thousand pieces.

After a while Temitope felt she had to do something or else they would probably just stand there looking one another. So she simply said, “It’s a surprise to see you here at this hour Ayokunle.” To this, he smiled and said, “I was visiting a friend in your neighbourhood so I thought of just coming and saying a hello to you. Hope you don’t mind.”

Even as he said so, Ayokunle felt a tad foolish. What a lame excuse to make at that hour of the night! He knew she would see that he was lying, but he said it anyway. But Temitope simply laughed at it and said, “Let me pour us a drink.” How he loved they way she laughed, he loved everything about her, the way she walked, the way her hair fell on her shoulders and her smile, her soft lips on his….it gave him a shiver just to think of it.

“Why on earth am I offering him a drink at this hour? He knows I never drink so late,” she thought. Her smile gave her away for Ayokunle said, “Temitope you never drink so late, is something wrong?”

He said that smiling and approached her as she was pouring a drink in a glass. He took her in his arms and the warmth of her body against his made him feel so alive that he looked deeply into her amazing green eyes and kissed her.

As their lips met, he felt her body tremble. At first, she resisted a bit, but soon she surrendered herself, body and soul. Both were lost in the heat of the moment as they ended up kissing, caressing, laying on her bed. Ayokunle switched on the music system and it seemed to cast a spell over both. Carried away by the heat of their passionate love, they indulged in passionate lovemaking.

It was almost 11.30 in the morning when Temitope woke up. She looked around but there was no Ayokunle. “Was it all just a dream, or did it really happen?” she wondered. She was about to get up and get herself have a cup of black coffee when she noticed an envelope next to her pillow.

She picked it up and opened it. Out fell sweet-smelling lavender flowers. “Good morning sweetheart, hope you slept well. I had to leave for office as there is an important meeting today. Last night was simply out-of-the-world. Hope to see you soon in the evening. Till then miss me loads!”

A shudder passed through Temitope. God, how could she have forgotten what had transpired between them last night. But as she closed her eyes again, she felt transported back in time, back in Ayokunle’s arms. In fact, she could smell his male scent on her pillow and her bed spread. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she saw love bites all over her body. And her eyes seemed to glow with love. “Gotta get going now,” she said to herself and left for the loo to get ready for office. And yes, she had one hell of a day at work to return in the warmth of Ayokunle’s arms again.

CelebritiesDavido Advises Graduating Secondary School Students On Good Behaviour by rakumiii(op):
News going round town about teen singer, Davido also known as 'Omo baba olowo' is that he recently paid a surprise visit to Chineye Odua Igwe, son of Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi, at his graduation ceremony held in Lekki, Lagos.

The young chap of Stella graduated from PineField College, Lekki and Davido gave him a surprise graduation gift by breezing through the school to celebrate with Chineye. Davido reportedly made a short performance from his popular songs.

Wonders happened when the singer, who has reportedly been involved in some controversies, reportedly addressed the students of the school. There was also an autograph session. The principal of the school, Mrs Fadipe was reportedly excited about the whole scenario.

You will recall that Davido was earlier this year, 2012, reportedly involved in a mess with a groupie while on his way to Ghana. Just days ago, news went viral that he allegedly beat up one of his girlfriends and a cab driver that reportedly made an attempt to assist the helpless girl.

Wonder what Davido advice Davido must have given to the students?
