Are you a prospective Jambite or DE Candidate?
EducationFederal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) 2017/18 UTME/DE Admissions by Ramwab94(op):
OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE THREAD.
I Welcome all UTME and Direct Entry Candidates in this year's FUTA 2017/18 Admission Process.
It was possible for many candidates who got admission into the Federal University of Akure [FUTA] in the 2016/2017 Admission Session. However, the new Academic Admission has come and it is with delight that I officially welcome all Aspiring candidates of the Most technologically equipped varsity in Nigeria: FUTA; on this platform.
I welcom Jambites.
I welcom Direct Entry Candidates as well.
THE 2017 ADMISSION PROCESS
Right from inception, Federal University of Technology, Akure has been know to conduct Post-Utme Screening Examinations for candidates. But lately, due to the directives from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, ONLY Screening of Candidates' Credentials were carried out. These begun last year, 2016 and is well expected to be a continuum until (unless) a new policy is being formulated, yet again, by the Joint Admissions Body, JAMB!
Sequel to that, we believe candidates are getting ready for this year's Admission process. It'd be a breathtaking one as Admission into Nigerian Universities nowadays are becoming highly competitive. Hence, survival of the fittest. This translates to the fact that as a FUTA Jambite Aspirant, you must have a very strong O'Level Result and must have scored not less than 200 in the just concluded UTME examinations. In the same vein, as a Direct Entry candidate, you must as well have concluded a Diploma, [ND/HND], A'Levels, NCE, IJMB/JUPEB programmes of study and must have graduated with at least UPPER CREDIT or its equivalent as the case may be subject to your Course Requirements; DE candidates must also possess the Ordinary Level requirements as this is equally important.
DE Candidates should not forget to send their Academic Transcript from their last Institution of Learning to the Registrar as soon as possible. The earlier the better.
...and in case you do not know, I'm not a Student of the School. I'm just a Direct Entry Candidate of the Institution willing to make awareness to fellow aspirants and to create a platform where we can interact, ask questions related to Admission and Courses of studies.
Once again, welcom to this year, 2017/18 FUTA Admission Process.
This year is our year....

Actually Circuit Theory is a very messed up and complicated course. As a student offering the course virtually every semester here in Ilaro, right from my National Diploma days, until this HND period, it'd been a very nasty experience. Anyway, Larry, I really love your decision to pickup your writing material and flaunt the prowess of your writing skills. I can't wait to read further your experience as an Engineering Student in Unilag. Following you bumper to....

School: D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, itori-ewekoro.
School in view: UI
Course in 0nd : electrical electronics engineering
Course in view: computer science
Grade: upper
Can this be possible?
My dear brother, truth be told, that's not really possible. Com Science is in the Faculty of Science while Electrical is of Engineering. The only course you can apply to in the faculty of science as an Electrical Electronics Graduand is Physics/Electronics. Same goes with SLT students too. But all in all, I advice you read through the Institution's requirement from the official Jamb Brochure for 17/18 session.

ladies and gentlemen, the long awaited direct entry registration starts today.. well it starts officially tomorrow.. please, if you av not regularize, try to. and make sure you don't make unrealistic selections, remember this is D.E not jamb. for distinction candidates, if you fail the aptitude test exam.. your distinction is useless. and as for our prayer warriors that wont read but keeps on praying, my brother and sister your portion is in the lake of failure. once again please and please make reasonable selection and if by chance you aint admitted make sure you continue HND... and if they admit you, thank God.
Don't you think since Jamb registration has been extended by two weeks, the Direct Entry registrations, too, has to take a postponement given credence to the fact that there shall be traffic on the Official Jamb site?

my dear, you have to go and pocess the regularization right now. It must be done before Admission. Infact, before you register for the Jamb DE appilcation form as you will be required to provide your last Jamb Admission Registration Number prior to the registration on Jamb site. In this case, Your generated regularized number would be provided.

It happen to my friend and the school accepted him back, although i don't know of other schools. Ask your HOD if there will accept the person, like i said since it is not cultism, sexual abuse, certificate forgery, stealing from hostel, most school will accept re -admission. The reason why student don't normally go back to the school is because of stigmatization from fellow old student, and to avoid problem with the lecturer ( invigilator) or examiner
alright. It is now much clearer. Thank you sir.

The first thing is to let your parents/guardians know, they can add a whole new dimension to the problem solving process that you never thought of.
They should even have been told before facing the Examination Misconduct Panel.
The way I see it, the best way to solve all your problems at once is to try every means available to get the expulsion reversed. Failing that, apply for your ND transcript and enroll for HND at another school. Ideally, the issue is not supposed to affect the HND result, but based on the Nigerian factor/African-pull-him-down-mentality, it might. Whatever they do, you can still use it to get HND spot at another university if you are not too selective.
Remember, all these are just a tip of the iceberg compared to what is obtainable in the real world work environment so rather than being ashamed or depressed, consider it a learning/growing experience.
The bearer really appreciates your sincere recommendations.

when you get admission in any polytechnic, the school will open new file for you, it doesn't matter whether you are a returning student. The new file has nothing to do with your ND file and result. You are only qualify to reapply if you are expel based on poor academic performance, illment/ accident. expulsion from school for exam malpractice has nothing to do with your future since it is not a cultism activities or sexual abuse. You can go to another school and become the best student.
could he/she still reapply to the school? That aspect is not clear enough sir.

Hello all!

I've got to ask the following questions from well learned, exposed and experienced Students and Academicians whom are either Graduates or presently an Undergraduate in Nigerian Polytechnics and Universities, in the Career Section of this great forum on behalf of a friend, who is also on NL but prefers to be anonymous.
THE ANALYSES GOES THUS:
1. A Student graduates with Distinction in National Diploma from one of the Federal Polytechnics in Southwestern states.
2. S/he applied for his/her HND programme in the same institution.
3. S/he was admitted. 4months into the Session and First semester examinations for HND 1 began. While in the exams, s/he, unfortunately, wrote at the back of a graph sheet required for a particular course in the exams (which originally should have been provided by the School). One of the invigilators saw him/her and claimed s/he has committed Examination Malpractise(?).
4. S/he was invited to face the Examination Misconduct Panel and was finally expelled from the Institution.
5. S/he already has his/her Notification of Result for the National Diploma before the incident occured.
QUESTIONS
a) Would the 'expulsion' have effect or be subjected to ratification on his/her National Diploma Results?
b) Would s/he be availed the opportunity to apply for Transcript for his/her ND results into another Institution?
c) Would the Institution be ready to give out his/her records during ND without inserting the shameful 'expulsion' during his HND programme into the records and reports?
d) Can he reapply to the same institution the following year?
e) If the answer to [d] above is 'Yes,' how best can he/she possibly cope with the shame and depression?
f) Should he/she inform his/her Parents/Guardians? What about the shame and their countenance on the excess money, time and resources wasted on the folk on his Acceptance Fee, School Fee and numerous feeding and sundry allowances, especially during this tragic situation of the economy?
YOUR CANDID OPINIONS ARE WELCOMED AND WOULD BE WELL APPRECIATED BY THE BEARER WHOM SHALL BE READING ALL YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS.
Thanks in anticipation.
Warmest Regards!

Bro, pls I finished with distinction in elect/elect too and I want to go for physics and electronics in any state university simply bcoz of the chances of getting d admission. I can't stay @home for anoda 1year despite d fact that sm1 has a very good result, my question is dat is it possible to cross from elect/elect(engnr) to physics & electronics (sciences)? And what are d chances of getting the admission? Has any1 done dat b4? Thanks in anticipation
Yes my brother. It's very, very possible. Lots of folks have done that before though I don't have their contacts. And be rest assured that you have a very good chance at getting Admitted. All you need do is to get abreast about the state institution, which you are willing to choose's Course requirements in their brochure, you can also contact their Admission Office for details. State Institutions like OOU and AAUA are your best bets. You can find out more too.

Well, I think I concur with you. Besides, this year's Direct Entry process is still fresh. The forms are not yet out, until April 23 after the closure of UTME as earlier stated by JAMB.

Has anyone gone through the UTME/DE Advertisement, is jamb going to conduct exam for DE candidates too ni?
I am also still suprised about this. In anyway, let's anticipate for subsequent sanitization. But if I am to predict, I'd say, it probably was a mistake, as DE candidates had never, in the history of the agency, written any exam organised by JAMB.

Guys evening........ I'm about to ask a rather mayhem question....can one apply for DE and UTME in the same year
In previous years, it had been possible. Infact, I know of a Lady, Dearpiriye, who applied for both in the 2015 Admission session. She was later admitted into Medicine and Surgery at UI same year. But my brother, the system has changed. You need not do that if you really don't want to be disqualified, as double registration UTME and DE is not adviseable and leads to disqualification as stated by Jamb. Prevention they say, is better than cure.

Hi!

I also graduated National Diploma in Electrical Electronics Engineerin from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in 2015.
Last year, I tried UI for DE but was dissapointed just like many others.

Well, I think both Institutions of probable choice are great, but I can bet you that the competition is rife. I know about 7 Distinction pple who chose FUTA and Ilorin last year but wasnt admitted. It's more like Engineerin courses are highly competitive and these institutions prefer A/Level, JUPEB, University Diploma et al candidates, which happens that they also offer the programmes which runs in Hundreds of Thousands. Hence, they resort to give admission to their product.

As for me, this year, I have decided to go for a less competitive course: Physics with Electronics; if at all I want to get a University Education at all cost, as tryin in the same Engineerin line is becomin tiring, tedious and frustrating with Excellent Diploma Result but yet, No Admission.

You can communicate with me on Whatsapp if need be via 08132473899.

Regards!
