Politics / Re: Buhari Sets 11,000mw Target By 2023 by ramzey12345(m): 10:50am On Jul 23, 2019
agwom:
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday unveiled a new power target for the country, following the signing of an electricity road map agreement between the Federal Government and German-based Siemens. The signing of the implementation agreement was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), Dr. Alex Okoh signed on behalf of the federal government and the Chief Executive Officer of the Siemens, Mr. Joe Kaeser signed for the firm.
Meaning no light till you remove, what a scam president
The deal, our correspondent reports, was the product of a meeting President Buhari held with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel on August 31, 2018. Speaking after the signing, the president said the government’s goal was to deliver electricity to Nigerian businesses and homes. The president said: “My challenge to Siemens, our partner investors in the Distribution Companies, the Transmission Company of Nigeria and the Electricity Regulator is to work hard to achieve 7,000 megawatts of reliable power supply by 2021 and 11,000 megawatts by 2023 – in phases 1 and 2 respectively.

“After these transmission and distribution system bottlenecks have been fixed, we will seek – in the third and final phase – to drive generation capacity and overall grid capacity to 25,000 megawatts.” He said with the strong commitment to the development of Mambilla Hydroelectric and the various solar projects under development across the country, the long-term power generation capacity will ensure adequate energy mix and sustainability in the appropriate balance between urban and rural electrification. “Our intention is to ensure that our cooperation is structured under a Government-to-Government framework.

No middlemen will be involved, so that we can achieve value for money for Nigerians. We also insist that all products be manufactured to high quality German and European standards and competitively priced. “It is our hope that as the power situation improves, we will improve investor confidence, create jobs, reduce the cost of doing business and encourage more economic growth in Nigeria,” he said. The president said “Previous governments have explored state funded solutions through the ill-prepared National Independent Power Projects (NIPP). They also explored the installation of large emergency power projects. There was also the partial privatization of the power generation and distribution sectors.

“These various interventions to solving the electricity problem have yielded an imbalance between the amount of power generated and the amount available for consumers.” He said despite over 13,000 megawatts of power generation capacity, only an average of 4,000 megawatts reach consumers.

“Now, we have an excellent opportunity to address this challenge. This government’s priority was to stabilise the power generation and gas supply sector through the Payment Assurance Facility, which led to a peak power supply of 5,222 MW. Nonetheless, the constraints remained at the transmission and distribution systems.”

In an interview after the signing of the pact, the CEO of Siemens, said the partnership will enable the country enhance its power delivery capacity significantly. He said the power target will lead the country to the next industrial phase. Also speaking to newsmen, the Director General of BPE described Siemens as a credible partner. “If you look at the amount of losses that is being experienced in the entire power sector, they are huge.

“That is why we welcome this intervention and we believe that within the timelines that have been directed by Mr. President, we will be able to significantly improve power supply in the country,” he said.

Business / Re: How Banks And Bankers Are Getting Richer Through Foolish Dead Husbands by ramzey12345(m): 11:49pm On Jul 21, 2019
obembet:
I was privilege to chat with a female bank manager, she made a scary revelation to me. She told me how Nigerian bank vaults are filled with monies of dead men who kept their bank accounts secret from their wives.

She explained it was against bank ethics or policies for an account officer to inform the relatives of a deceased customer of his account (without his permission). And since the man is dead, without giving his permission, the bank dubiously keeps silent about the money. She told me it is rampant among many businessmen.

She revealed many instances of dead men whose families are still suffering, while they have millions stashed in their secret accounts.

She mentioned one that happened few months back. The man died and the wife was crying all over the place, looking for money to bury him. Whereas the man had nothing less than 60 million naira in his accounts. The banker said it got to a stage that she could no longer bear it, her conscience was pummelling her. She had to go against her bank rules, and got in contact with the widow and revealed to the woman how much her husband had in his accounts and how to claim them.

She also told of another story of one man who escaped death, but his right hand got paralysed. He couldn't sign his chequebook with his left hand and he was in a desperate situation that needed him to sign papers and cheques. That was how he learnt his lesson the hard way. As soon as he got better, he immediately made his wife co-signatory to all his accounts and involved her in all his businesses. What if he had died? That was how his family would have suffered in the midst of plenty.

This stupid behaviour is not reserved for wealthy men alone, even paupers who earn little have their own complex issues.

I just read on the wall of one of our groups where a man complained of how his friend refused to release his ATM pin number to his wife even though there was an emergency at home, and his ATM was at home.

Many orphans and widows suffering today are put in that condition by their stupid dead father.

Women and Retirees are not left out. Someone told me how a relative of hers died and none of her relatives knew that her properties were scattered all over the world. Not even one house. Not even a dime in any of her accounts... If you knew billions unclaimed in banks belong to selfish dead people, you would weep.

Banks and Bankers grow fat on these oafs.

Please do the needful now that you still have the breath to do so. Of course tomorrow is pregnant and only God knows what it will deliver.

A word is enough for the wise

Plum70:
I, a Nigerian national and my husband (Swiss) reside in the UK. We have tried registering our marriage at the Swiss embassy in London for almost 2 years now but have been told that I need to obtain my FULL birth certificate from the NPC in Nigeria before any registration can be documented in Switzerland (apparently my abridged cert. is not acceptable). As you may understand, my husband is quite upset that while our marriage is recognized in the UK (where our union took place) and my country of origin, in Switzerland we are not even considered married!

1. As I am originally from Delta state but was born in Lagos, do we go to the NPC in Lagos?
2. We have been advised that I would need to go to court to swear to an affidavit declaring my age. Is this a fairly straightforward process?
3. Is it realistic to expect to wrap up this whole process in 1 day i.e. getting both the affidavit and birth certificate?
4. As the B.C is required for out of country/external purposes, would we need to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja to have it certified before submitting to the Swiss embassy in London?
5. What is the cost, on average, for the entire administrative formality?

I would like to hear from those who have personally gone through this process.
Very easy just goto any council or secretariat as we call it here in warri and make sure u go with an affidavit with 12k and after 1 week u get your birth certificate
Cheers and many thanks in advance.

good day every one
I'm preparing for interview and I was drafting ties that hold me to my country and I draft something like this
My family resides in Nigeria and my church family. My goal is to visit the US and return. I previously sponsored Ms.kathleen from the United States to visit Nigeria and she is sponsoring me for 14-21 days. My degree is in Micriobiology but my true passion is teaching the youth. I recently embarked upon a teaching position working under the umbrella of Dr. Mohammed in Ilorin Nigeria and the youth desperately want to know about the world we live in outside of Nigeria. However, I can not inform them of cultural diversity of different cultures because I have not traveled outside of Nigeria. Therefore, my goal is to tour the US for touring and learning purposes only. My country is Nigeria and I am forever dedicated to my country and people.
