Mpumalanga (Zulu name for "the place where the sun rises" is a province in eastern South Africa, bordering the nations of Swaziland and Mozambique.
The R21 is one of 3 highways connecting Joburg and the capital Pretoria, the others are N1 and the N14. Gauteng (the province of JHB and PTA) is heavily dependent upon freeways for transport around the province . Freeways are sometimes called highways or motorways colloquially.
Sun City Resort is a world-renowned Kingdom of Pleasure, with many attractions and activities, luxury accommodation, game reserve and the Million Dollar Golf course.
South Africa’s total road network is about 747 000km, the longest network of roads of any African country. The drive from Musina on South Africa’s northern border to Cape Town in the south is a 2 000km journey on well-maintained roads.
While the Department of Transport is responsible for overall policy, road-building and maintenance is the responsibility of the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) as well as the nine provinces and local governments.
Sanral is responsible for the country’s network of national roads, which cover around 16 200km. There are about 185 000km of provincial roads, and the municipal network totals around 66 000km, according to the SA Institute of Civil Engineering.
The Phoenix-1B Mark IIr is the third rocket variant to be developed by the UKZN's Aerospace Systems Research Group (ASReG), which is funded by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI). The first, the Phoenix-1A, was flight tested in 2014, but experienced a nozzle failure, which limited altitude. The second launch, in 2019, of the Phoenix-1B Mark II, was unsuccessful because of a software fault in the code that controlled the opening and closing of the main oxidizer valve. Valuable lessons were learnt from past failures, which assisted in today's successful launch of the cost-effective Phoenix-1B Mark IIr, a revised version of the Mark II lost in 2019.
^^Looking at that rocket fly, I cant but help think this is also a good basis for an ICBM or other surface launched missile. Do other African countries even put money towards research and technology?
Ladies and gentlemen of South Africa, we have lift off! The Department of Science and Innovation has confirmed that they conducted a successful rocket launch this week, breaking both domestic and continental records in the process.
The event saw the test rocket travel 17.9 km into the air – achieving a new African hybrid rocket altitude record. The projectile also reached speeds nearing the 2 500k/ph mark. Science and Innovation fall under the portfolio of Minister Blade Nzimande, and he hailed the rocket launch as a ‘historic moment’ for South African space studies.
The N4 is the main link between South Africa and Mozambique, and it is a very strategic national road as South African exports through the Maputo harbour are steadily increasing
Roan77: Hmm no, Namibia got the best roads in Africa.
Namibia's road network is only marginally better than ours while being 10's of times smaller than ours with miniscule traffic loads so I think all things considered SA's road network is superior; it's longer and carries vast amounts of traffic. On top of that the Namibian road system is based on SA's road standards, so yeah...
rvp20182: Possibly Africa 1st elevated expressway few months from completion
Nope, Joburg's had an elevated highway since the 80's already, infact a double elevated highway with opposing traffic on the different levels. So technically you're catching up with where Joburg was more than 30 years ago
rvp20182: Long explanation for economic stagnation facing your country. The number of slums and shanties is evidence that you have housing deficit. If South Africa was growing - Joburg would be like Thailand's Bangkok or Indonesia Jakarta or such Asian cities that are developing fast. Not very close to Nairobi.
Look at Bangkok - Thailand will become a developed nation - something south africa may never
Excuses excuses, why are you telling me about Bangkok? What happened to Kenya overtaking SA? Or did you get a reality check from the photos? Post photos of "The Capital" and let's compare and contrast.
