Yesterday afternoon, a man snatched a child who was walking on the street with her mum, jumped on his bike around Beckleys Estate, Abule Egba Lagos, and tried to ride away, but luck ran out on him when the mother of the child raised an alarm and other passersby chased him on their own bikes.
When he realized that many people were after him, he threw the child from the bike thinking people would stop chasing him but the chasers didn't give up and eventually captured him.
The child was injured and has been taken to the hospital while the kidnapper was almost beaten to death. Fortunately for him, police from Oko Oba division came to his rescue and took him away."

With the olympic games at the corner, Nigeria is battling readiness three weeks before the Olympics Games in Rio.

Authorities at the Nigerian athletes and sports federations say they are facing key funding issues.

They argued that it is as a result of the country’s harsh economic status which has affected the sports ministry’s budget.

Head coach of Nigeria’s Olympic football team, Samson Siasia said he should not be held responsible should the team fail to impress the country.

“We won’t even get bronze like this, forget it, let’s face the fact, we have a lot of work to do but as long as we are going to go but we will still work on how to have a strong team when we get there,” he said.
The sharp fall in global oil prices since 2014 has led to a prolonged economic crisis, Nigeria is one of the hardest hit.

“Everyone knows the preparation for this Olympics is a little bit wobble but then we are trying to see if we can cover it up as soon as we can,” said General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohammed Sanusi.

“You can’t avoid having one problem or another you know, as human being, problems are bound to come but what is important is what has been done to cement the problems so I must tell you we are doing everything to make sure that we give them quality preparations ahead of the Olympics,” Sanusi added.

Nigeria is making its 17th appearance at the Olympics and will compete in eight categories.

Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir arrived in Rwanda on Saturday to attend a summit of African leaders, defying an international warrant for his arrest after public assurances from Rwandan leaders that he would not be arrested.

The African Union summit on Sunday is expected to discuss the continent's uneasy relationship with the International Criminal Court, which some say unfairly targets Africans.
At the heart of the Heads of State meeting, the AU would launch the African passport initiative and also elect a new chairperson for the continental body because the current chairperson Dr. Dlamini Zuma of South Africa has said she is quitting the post.
Ahead of the summit, some African countries renewed efforts to quit the ICC en masse despite the opposition of some countries like Botswana. Nigeria, Senegal and Ivory Coast have been pushing back as well in recent days.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has led growing criticism of the ICC, calling it "useless" during his inauguration in May, an event that al-Bashir attended.

Some countries want a separate African court with jurisdiction over rights abuses.

"Withdrawal from ICC is entirely within the sovereignty of a particular state," Joseph Chilengi, an AU official, told reporters Saturday.

Al-Bashir is wanted by the ICC for alleged atrocities in the country's Darfur region.

Rwandan Foreign Minister Louise Mushikiwabo said this week that Rwanda would not arrest him.

"Africa doesn't support criminals, but when justice is involved with a lot of politics we take a pause to separate the two," Mushikiwabo told reporters. Although Rwanda has not ratified the Rome Statute that is the basis for the ICC, it handed over suspected war criminal Bosco Ntaganda of Congo to the court in 2013.

The African Union summit also will discuss South Sudan, where clashing army factions raised concerns of a return to civil war. The chaos threatens a peace deal signed last August between President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar.

United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon, who is attending the summit, has called for an arms embargo.

According to Pulse, the business partners have been having several issues ranging from  finances, booking and appearance fees, to include taking some crucial decisions on the artistes the label houses and the label itself. Iyanya, was reprotedly not okay with how Ubi Franklin, was handling the finances of the label.

Senator Shehu Sani who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District, he has spent spent four years in jail during the Abacha era, lectured Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu on life in prison following their arraignment on a two-count charge of forgery of senate orders, at the Federal High Court Abuja on Monday June 27th.


A senator who was present when Sani was lecturing the senate leaders, told Daily Trust that Sani gave the advise when the court went on a one hour recess


"Sani came and lectured the presiding officers on life in the prison. He told them that in the prison there is ranking rule like at the National Assembly. He advised them to cooperate with the Governor in the prison. He said after registration, they will be given plates for meals. Sani also told them that they are going to share toilet, bathroom with other inmates and that it is the Governor of the prison that will allocate bed space to them"
When contacted on phone, Sani confirmed he indeed gave Saraki and Ekweremadu some lessons on life in prison
"Yes, is anything bad in what I did? They are my colleagues and as a former inmates, I felt I should educate them on how to live in the prison, so that they will not be caught unaware, "he said.

The Nollywood actress has taken to her Instagram page to share an unseen photo from the fire disaster.
The photo shows the remains of what used to be her bedroom, with the roof gone and the walls blackened from the fire that gutted her home which was a twin duplex.
Henshaw shared the photo, while thanking God for delivering her from the incident.
She wrote this:

What a world, Kenyan teacher jailed for 90 years for defiling boys

A primary school teacher has been sentenced to 90 years in prison by a court in central Kenya's Murang’a County for sexually assaulting 10 pupils.
John Gichia Mugi, 23, will be released when he is 113 years old.
The boys, aged between 13 and 16, testified that Mugi fondled their private parts and kissed them after night preps. Mugi was also their boarding master.


He will serve nine years for each assault. The sentences will run consecutively.

As John Gichia Mugi was hauled out of court to start what is effectively a life sentence, his parents wept uncontrollably in court. Mugi will be released when he is 113 years old.

Mugi, 23, indecently assaulted the 10 boys at a school in Kiharu Constituency in central Kenya between January and May 2015.

Private parts

The boys, aged between 13 and 16, testified that Mugi fondled their private parts and kissed them after night preps. Mugi was also their boarding master.

Magistrate Jesse Masiga handed him the stiff sentence and called it a deterrence. He said every count earned a jail term of nine years.

The magistrate told Mugi that he had breached the trust bestowed upon him by parents and committed a heinous act on the boys he was supposed to look after.

Was so adamant

The assault came to light after one of the boys insisted he wanted to go home with his parents after a parents’ meeting.

Asked why he was so adamant to leave, the boy revealed what the teacher used to do to them at night. Mugi fled after the boys exposed him.

Eleven pupils came forward and exposed the teacher, but one was struck out by the court due to lack of sufficient evidence.

Found guilty

Medical records at Muriranjas Hospital showed that the pupils had been indecently assaulted but were not molested.

The school headteacher was found guilty of professional misconduct and struck off the Teachers' Service Commission roll after he tried to cover up the case.
