Health / India Records First Successful Womb Transfer by raphok1(m): 6:16pm On May 21, 2017
A 21-year lady has become the first person to undergo a womb transplant in India after her 41-year old mother donated her womb to her. The recipient was born without a uterus.

“We will start to retrieve the uterus at around 9 am from the donor and transplant it in recipient,” Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar, the medical director at Galaxy Care Hospital, who led a team of 21 surgeons said before the surgery.

He added that the entire procedure would take around eight hours.

The minimally invasive retrieval of the womb carried out mainly through key hole surgery and its subsequent transplant performed only through open surgery took nine hours. “We started at noon on Thursday. It took us four-and-a-half hours to retrieve the uterus from the 41-year-old woman,” Dr Shailesh Puntambekar said.

Since the majority of the retrieval part was done through minimally invasive keyhole surgery medically known as laparoscopic surgery, the donor did not even require blood transfusion. The complicated womb transplant surgery took nine hours.

“Around 80 percent of the retrieval of organ (uterus) was done laparoscopically and only towards the tail end of the surgery when we had to take out the organ (womb) from donor’s body that we adopted open surgery method by taking a small incision so that vessels supplying blood to the uterus are not squeezed and damaged,” said Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar after the surgery was successfully performed.

With a deep feeling of happiness, he further added “The surgery has been successful. The condition of the recipient and donor is stable. Another 48 hours will be crucial in determining the outcome the surgery.”

Religion / Re: The Balance Your Faith Needs As A Christian by raphok1(m): 1:56pm On May 14, 2017
Most people now use Christianity to cover laziness and mediocrity.
Religion / The Balance Your Faith Needs As A Christian by raphok1(m): 1:54pm On May 14, 2017
A lot of Christians have gotten it all wrong in exercising their faith. A lot have even denounced the faith because of frustration. The truth is , there is a part we (Christians) need to play to keep our faith alive. I believe lessons from fhe lives of the biblical patriarchs below will expand your understanding on keeping your faith alive.

*BALANCE*

1. *Noah* built the *ark* by faith but, he used measurements. There is a place for rational thinking in our walk of faith. Not all decisions should be made with blind hope!

2. *Sarah's pregnancy* was a miracle, but it took nine months just like any other. God's plans do not negate the importance of process. Sometime you need to wait or work it out.

3. The *stone* that killed *Goliath* might have been anointed, but *David's skill* was also involved. Developing skills does not mean you are not anointed. If you play a piano, play it to the fullest. Don't take us through the agony of listening to your cacophony in the name of "singing to the Lord". Skills are important. There is nothing rude with telling that sister "you can't sing, find something else to do in the house of God".

4. *Esther* received favor to become *queen*, but she also bathed and prepared her appearance. Preparation is key to become fit for the occasion. Get knowledge, go to school. Stop blaming auto-correct, check your spelling even here on social media. Prepare, because some of us expect nothing but the best from you!

5. The *promised land* was full of milk and honey, but they also had to plow, feed cattle, and take care of sheep. Miracles are communication tools that God uses to instill trust, faith and the knowledge of his nature. You need to work, don't expect miracles in a specific area of life all the time. No one pays rent for a full year with miracle money. We need it, we want it, but God wants what is permanent.

6. *God* is the one who *created human capacity* to memorize things, yet he also told many prophets to write their message. Spirituality does not mean we should not use tools to package the message.

7. *Ruth* received favor to marry *Boaz*, but the coaching of Naomi was necessary. Human coaching is necessary, you need to submit and learn from someone. It will spare you from silly mistakes.

8. *Moses* could hear directly from God, but he was wearing himself out with work, it was the wisdom of his father in law that saved him from dying a premature death with exhaustion. It is wisdom to put on a seat belt, brush teeth, and adhere to medical advise. Being spiritual does not mean asking angels to cook food for you!

9. *Namaan* was a mighty soldier and a friend of Kings, but he acted as influenced by a Jewish maiden. Even important people are influenced by"insignificant"people. The key thing is proximity that generates influence.

Mishandling of the natural world can cause hinderance to progress, and a total neglect of the spiritual world will definitely cause total failure in all areas of life.

*Balance is the key.*
Health / Scientists Completely Eliminate HIV In Living Animals For The First Time Ever by raphok1(m): 2:17pm On May 03, 2017
Scientists have cured living animals of HIV using CRISPR gene-editing, a new study claims. The virus remains elusive due to the its ability to hide away in latent reservoirs.  But now, in new research published this week, US scientists showed they could completely remove HIV DNA from human cells implanted into mice - preventing further infection.

It is the first time scientists have ever achieved complete elimination in animal models - paving the way to a human clinical trial.

Most exciting, the study by at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and the University of Pittsburgh involved a 'humanized' model in which mice were transplanted with human immune cells and infected with the virus.

The new work, led by Dr Wenhui Hu at LKSOM, builds on the same team's previous research, in which they managed to delete HIV-1 from the genome of most tissues.

A year later, they have been able to eliminate the virus from every tissue.

'Our new study is more comprehensive,' Dr. Hu said.

'We confirmed the data from our previous work and have improved the efficiency of our gene editing strategy. We also show that the strategy is effective in two additional mouse models, one representing acute infection in mouse cells and the other representing chronic, or latent, infection in human cells.'

The team tested three groups of mice.

In the first, they infected mice with HIV-1.

In the second, they infected mice with a severe case of EcoHIV (the mouse equivalent of human HIV-1).

The third used a 'humanized' mouse model, engrafted with human immune cells, that was infected with HIV-1.

Treating the first group, they managed to genetically inactivate HIV-1, reducing the RNA expression of viral genes by up to 95 percent, confirming their earlier findings.

The second group has an added challenge: the virus is more prone to vociferously spread and multiply.

'During acute infection, HIV actively replicates,' Dr Khalili explained.

'With EcoHIV mice, we were able to investigate the ability of the CRISPR/Cas9 strategy to block viral replication and potentially prevent systemic infection.'

WHAT IS CRISPR AND HOW IS IT USED?
CRISPR-Cas9 is a tool for making precise edits in DNA, discovered in bacteria.

The acronym stands for 'Clustered Regularly Inter-Spaced Palindromic Repeats'. The technique involves a DNA cutting enzyme and a small tag which tells the enzyme where to cut. By editing this tag, scientists are able to target the enzyme to specific regions of DNA and make precise cuts, wherever they like.

It has been used to 'silence' genes - effectively switching them off. When cellular machinery repairs the DNA break, it removes a small snip of DNA. In this way, researchers can precisely turn off specific genes in the genome. The approach has been used previously to edit the HBB gene responsible for a condition called β-thalassaemia.

Pls I'm I the only one not understanding? We heard here in Nigeria that about 30 - 40 man United fans were electrocuted by a cable that fell on their viewing center while they watched United's match against a Belgian side in the Europa league in calaba. But how come United released a statement via their tweeter handle, saying their players would wear black armbands for the seven United fans that died in Calaba, Nigeria. Hmm. How did. 30 - 40 become 7? Pls who can explain. See pix below.

Health / Why You Should Make Your Daily Diet More Of Raw Plant Based Foods/products. by raphok1(m): 2:06pm On Apr 26, 2017
The digestive system of humans was designed by God to process living plant foods. Raw plant source foods are loaded with fiber, and it is the fiber that keeps the food moving rapidly through the very lengthy digestive tract; a digestive tract with many pockets, loops, and bends.
However, when an animal source food (any form of meat, diary products, and any type of egg) is consumed and sent through the digestive tract, a digestive tract designed to process vegetables and fruits loaded with fiber, problems develop! Why? Because animal products contain absolutely NO FIBER! Thus, animal products move very sluggishly through the digestive tract, in an atmosphere of about 98.6℉, and they PUTREFY! This putrefied flesh cause physical problems ranging from body odor to acid stomach problems, to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), to colitis, ulcerated colitis, to crones disease, to colon cancer. And it doesn’t matter if the animal is raised organically or commercially. All flesh/animal products are devoid of fiber, and putrefy in the warm temperatures of the digestive tract.
Interestingly, hundreds of testimonies have been shared by people who had been experiencing the above digestive tract problems, when they adopted the plant based diet, a basically raw plant based diet, loaded with fiber. When they made the diet change, they saw their digestive tract problems simply disappear, and sometimes very quickly. For instance, acid stomach problems are usually gone within less than a week after a person stops consuming animal products, and starts consuming a basically raw, plant based diet, loaded with fiber.
Today we put in all manner of animal products into our bodies, which are loaded with saturated fats, containing all the toxins from everything the animal had eaten during its lifetime, not to mention the antibiotics and growth hormones introduced into the animal’s body. The fats within these products accumulate in our bodies, clog our blood vessels, and cause the death of about 40% of our population each year in the form of cardiovascular diseases. While the other toxins from the animal cause all manner of other physical break down.
It’s our choice . These diseases never existed at this present rate about a hundred years ago, because men of those days ate More living plant based diet. Presently we have the greatest health care system that has ever been in the history of man, yet we suffer the greatest of diseases mankind has ever suffered. Isn’t it an unbelievable paradox? The problem is wrong modifications in our diet, and the world is not ready to do something about it. But you can have your own life in your hand by correcting your diet.
More to come…

Religion / Our Race In Christianity Is Joint And Not Individual. by raphok1(m): 3:04pm On Apr 23, 2017
WE RUN TOGETHER IN CHRISTIANITY

It’s been said over time that the race run in Christianity is individual; well, yes in a sense, but not in general. Individuality has its place in our Christian race, but the most part of it is JOINT. We move together as a force, watching each other’s back; we fasten our eyes on our tracks, and also the tracks of those running together beside us.
Unlike the 100m Olympian race run by professional athletes, where a sprinter is tabooed from crossing his tracks into another’s; Christians are permitted to jump right into the tracks of co-runners to sharpen and lift them up when they fall. We run not against ourselves, but with ourselves, and for ourselves (one another).
No! You can’t describe this race as individual, when the judge of the race qualifies the plight of the one that runs alone with a big WOE (Eccl 4:9-10). In fact the judge of this race makes us understand our capacity is altered positively with increase in our numbers (Deu. 32:30, Matt. 18:19).
You can’t describe the race as individual, when we are all described as one body (1Cor. 12:12).
It can’t be individual, if we can only be called a church when we are at least two or three(Matt. 18:20).
Jesus didn’t send any of his disciples out alone. He sent them in twos.
The truth is: together is the only way and how. Even when we sin we can confess to one another (1John 5:16). Our gifts and spirituality are for the edification of each other (Eph. 4:12). We have been set as watch men over ourselves , and whistle blowers over ourselves (Ezekiel 3:17-27). When we stand together as a force, weaknesses are hidden and cured. We stop barriers when our hands are locked together in unity. Don’t forget the greatest thing that has happened to the world is the “unity of the trinity”. Their consciousness of “US” made us. Glory!! NEVER WALK ALONE!!
