Nah . . . it's a bit silly to pay $100k to host Rozay if you're worth $1mil.
But when you're worth $100mil, you should fly in Beyonce for the boy.

Its about that time again folks. . . . . what hip hop tracks blew you away?. . . . .  who was hot? . . . . . . We need suggestions ranging from mainstream cats to lesser known MC's. Last year, there was a compilation CD which broke major ground and i think it should only be  right for a follow up 2010 edition.

Here are my fav 10 tracks so far this year. I wonder who agrees with me?

( In no particular order)

1.  Pope - Enjoy
2.  Modenine - Star ( Pay at10shun)
3   Sasha P, Sauce Kid, Naeto C - Making Money remix
4.  K16, Unseen - School Daze
5.  X.O - Victory
6.  Jessie Jagz- Jargo
7.  Pryse - Since I was born
8.  Ice Prince - Oleku Vector - Oleku
9.  Vector - Mary Jane
10.Fazillion - Treat the People Right

Please try and be objective and remember, its HIP HOP tracks I'm talking about . . . .  .so please leave your Timaya and Terry G at home   grin

As usual, final listing will be down to the very democratic vote from numerous members of the Rapjunkie Congress Committee, so please, its outta my hands   wink

Shout out to Eldee for waking Rapjunkie up!!. . . . . . . cool

I cant believe how terrible rap album sales are these days. A whole Nelly sold only 63k in his first week?

the 2 reasons why eminems sales are so high are (1) he is white. . . . .(2) he is very good.  The modern day Elvis.

@ DBR,

I can boldly say I've spent well over £10,000 on albums over the years and only recouped less than £2,000 when I sold all ma CDs. I no do again. If its not free to download, I must get it by hook or crook.

Afrocandy has to be the worst musician in history. she looks like a tired ashawo,  she sings out of tune, the lyrics are shyte, her videos are tacky.

She needs spiritual cleansing
Apart from Kennis, Most Nigerian Record Label don't Promote their Artistes' music these days. . . They only try to promote the Artiste, And that tactic hv failed woefully. Let me giv an example, I don't live in Lagos but like 3months to When 2face Grass2Grace was to be released Radio stations in the Warri-PH axis wan blast For Instance Die, so tey everybody go dey talk about the album before it drops. Look the Way Jaywon's Filebe got same type of Promo. Jaywon's Filebe Video was one of the most aired Video in the South-South, n it got everybody talkin about him b4 his album dropped!

These other Record Label get their artiste on few gigs(how many 9ja peeps dey attend gigs), Few Magazine interview(When last i read mag sef?), Buy a Blackberry 4 dem to tweet and facebook deir lives away(hw many % of 9ja populatn uses d internet), Give their songs to notjustok and all. These promo doesn't get to the masses, na only the few privileged, n that's y most album failed these days.

Just imagine nw, Ruggedman Album is dropping on Saturday, n all he does is tweet n upd8 his fb page with My album drops 20th Nov, Can sum1 plz tell him twitter n facebook don't sell albums?

Massive Radio/TV promo can sell an album way more than d internet n stuffs, bt unfortunately Most Record label don't provide that these days, i just don't understand y. . .
True talk. . . .

BUT I don't think anybody can say Sauce kid was not promoted over the last 12 months ( at least on the internet)

HOWEVER, if Storm didn't promote the album on the radio ( unlikely since they run Beat FM) or TV ( unlikely cos they shot numerous videos eg underg with don jazzy) then you can blame them

@Tosin

what promo did Sauce do for Yebariba? how did it become such a national hit?
Music/Radio › Re: Breaking News: Gt The Guitarman Leaves Storm Records, Forms Ember Entertainment by rapjunkie(m): 8:54pm On Nov 16, 2010
Na y i still like kennis! Promote your artistes equally. . .
Saucekid's album almost died a natural death. . . .no promo, nothing. . .everytn was done by saucekid himself.
Gt's album died even b4 it was released. . .
Ikechukwu left, now gt. . . Next na sauce go follow.
bjmighty:
Obi Asika dey surprise me now oo. D guy no even try for sauce at all.
u guys make me laugh. . . .wetin u wan make obi asika do?. . . sauce kid shot numerous videos, performed at many shows and was given enough time and had ample opportunity to promote himself, . . YEARS!!!. . . .see all the collabos on the album sef!!. . . the fact is that Saucekids album didn't speak to the people ( it flopped!) . . . people no send the tracks. . . storm can not force people to buy an album
Music/Radio › Re: Ruggedman & Chinaydu – Here Comes Chinaydu by rapjunkie(m): 1:23pm On Nov 14, 2010
I like the beat, the lyrics, the delivery. . .he kills Chinaydu on the track ( i guess thats why he featured him) I just wish Rugged had been consistent over the years. . . . . he should have dropped at least one album since his last one.

However, I have a sneaky feeling that his new album will be one of the best Nigerian rap albums of recent years
