'Black males get blackmailed so I hit my lawyer on the blackberry and post bail' -          modenine ' my skin is black'

One of the best lyrically sick afro conscious hip hop songs EVER made.

Rapjunkie here you go contradicting yourself. Previously according to you, we shouldnt listen to music unless we understand the message,  right??!! So I guess Nneka is an exception? I can assure you that not everybody who likes her or Asa FULLY UNDERSTANDS what they are saying,  even though they do sing in English sometimes. Lastly I beg to differ on the Patua thingy, if you have been around REAL carribbeans, i guarantee you wil struggle to understand them for real. Not even when they water that poo down,
errr. . . . where did i say u shouldnt listen to music unless u understand the message? huh huh . . . . . .r u ok?  undecided
Music/Radio › Re: Asa Or Nneka? by rapjunkie(m): 3:19pm On Feb 10, 2010
eldee:
In my own opinion, I think she spends so much effort on trying to sound smart/deep that she forgets that she is first Nneka the singer before Nneka the 'philosopher'.
I still think her voice is not as good as Asa's  . . . neither is her control of the guitar.
Structurally, her songs are nowhere near Asa's too.
you  are chatting poop. how do those lines make her a 'philsopher'? more than and above a lyrically gifted artist?

stillwater:
Lol, I wanted to say that. Didn't want to upset her fans or discourage her hardwork. grin I've noticed you just have to start screaming about Africa or the black man and everyone automatically thinks you're an intellectual or lyrical. grin I just feel that's some really big shoes to fill after hearing from the likes of Bob Marley or Lucky Dube. undecided

A nigerian rapper (make i no mention name b4 dem go do yab me  grin) song was played on a new york radio and his fone wont stop ringing. . .enuff accolades, props from real heads in yankee. ,

This same Nigerian rapper, cos of his skill was praised by DJ Premo in an interview on a new york radio station. . (he wasnt even there to witness. . .ask me and i wud tell u where to hear it)

DJ Premo sent beats to this same rapper for him to BLESS them with his lyrics. . .

See, if u r good, u r good. . .it doesnt matter in what language u do it. . .I hate when people advocate for pigeon rap or doing stufs in your mother tongue. . .i hate it. . .do it in wateva lnaguage u can speak and make it good. . .it will be accepted. . .trust me

So if MI enters yankee and he spits well, as in spits well enuf to impress d heads dere, sure they would love him coupled with the fact that d dude's delivery is classic!

So abeg, rapping in pigin does not translate to being wack and those who do d oyinbo rap sef, i fit vomit if listen to am.  .

So abegi . . .oya mak euna do d usual. . .attack javalove grin grin grin grin
Why hasnt your 'nigerian rapper' released an album in yankee to take over the heads there?. . . . since dj premos fone wont stop ringing? shocked shocked

truth is, u cant sell ice to an eskimo tongue. . . . . . . . . . . . . . why do u think nneka is doing so well globally?
Music/Radio › Re: Is Rapping In Vernacular Whack? by rapjunkie(m): 11:02pm On Feb 09, 2010
i heard pherowshuz rap in pidgin albeit a few lines but it sounded cool. cant remember what track.

i must admit, ive rocked dagrin's 'ghetto dream' and 'pon pon pon' even though i dont understand anything. his flow and delivery is top notch. the rhyming scheme is obvious to the ears.

these rappers will take naija far. . . not naija peeps rapping like they are from compton longbeach.

If MI released an album in america, they would laugh at him. if da grin released an album they would laud him. . . . . Thats the truth.
Music/Radio › Re: Is Rapping In Vernacular Whack? by rapjunkie(m): 6:59pm On Feb 09, 2010
I used to think so when junior & pretty were rapping.

Emphasis were pretty cool, trybesmen were awesome, ruggedman is on point.

It just depends on the lyrics, flow and delivery. Listen to suspekt, pherowshuz, k16

these guys are holding it down

eldee worships mi, mi is overrated according to some nigerians . there are a lotta peeps who can spit better than mi, they just havent come out yet like when mi wasnt out in the era of rugged and co. mi doesnt look to me as a rapper who can suprise many this year . he seems to have exhausted everything judging from all his features here and there .
sometimes ofoka u make sense. . . . . i couldnt have said this any better. . . . . . .

let me go and listen to it first before i come after you rapjunkie, am not thru wit u yet , hope u know . grin grin
grin grin grin make i listen first
rapjunkie full ground. . . . no shaking. . . . i will soon release the diss track 'ofoka's death blow part 3' featuring modenine. . . watch this space. . . grin grin

MI has to release tracks on par with 'somebody wants to die' to make MI:2 a success.

There is too much heat now. Rappers full everywhere. . . .
Music/Radio › Re: Favourite Rap Lines By Nigerian Rappers by rapjunkie(m): 4:56pm On Feb 08, 2010
is this turning to another modenine thread? undecided

@eldee

MI is good but your giving him superhero cult status. Based on what?. . . . . . . . 'Safe'? 'Anoti'? 'short black boi'? . . . puhlease!!

MI still hasnt got a national hit. Popularity amongst the in-crowd in VI and ikoyi doesnt count.

eldee:
There's one short black boy from the the city called J

No matter what the haters or critics say
He know he will cus when there's a will there's a way

With no profanity or vanity but sanity and music for humanity he's gonna take the planet he
He's just a short black boy

M.I - Short Black Boy

There are a few Nigerian rappers that are better at internal rhyming and multies than M.I.
Problem is, they've not been born yet.  grin grin
So from the year 2G and forever, M.I rules.
the multis above are weak. . . . . plus have u heard of rhymezone.com?  Listen i can write 16's better than that in 5 mins flat. . . . . .and i aint a rapper shocked shocked shocked shocked

i prefer asa's music but i think nneka's quirkiness and originality has earned her more props. nneka seems more interesting out of the two.
Music/Radio › Re: M.i New Song God Bless You by rapjunkie(m): 1:41pm On Feb 08, 2010
is this really a new song?. . . .i hope its NOT on MI:2.

its a bit lame for MI isnt it?

i would have preferred artistes with more street credibility.
their message would have resonated better.
imagine Da grin, Nigga raw or Lord of Ajasa on this track.
even 9ice.
men that we know hustled there way from the street to the top.
all these Banky W and MI with their accent have not earned the right to preach yahoo yahoo message to the boys in the street.
we need men from the hood who knew how far.
tru dat. . . . . . . .the choice of artists involved in this project was ill advised. . .and whats dele momodu doing on the video?. . .  ,  only in Nigeria can we get a great concept like this so spectacularly wrong  shocked shocked shocked
