If you are seeking university admission in Nigeria, or you just gained admission to study any of these courses, and you are from a humble background, draw closer and hold your ears. Yes, I said hold your ears! Make sure you graduate with a First Class. Second Class Upper and Lower are not options. If you know say you go graduate with 3rd Class, you better use your 100L school fees to start POS business. Except you know that your background is solid, and you can easily start up any trade, project, or business venture, a First Class Is NOT optional; it is highly required. It will open doors for you no matter your course of study. Organizations that sponsor scholarships are not Father Christmas. They look critically at your grades. I have listed the courses below: 1. Public Administration 2. Mass Communication 3. Microbiology 4. Linguistics 5. Zoology 6. Sociology 7. Parasitology and Entomology 8. Psychology 9. Philosophy 10. History or Religious Studies 11. International Relations 12. Political Science 13. Any Nigerian language 14. Anthropology 15. English Someone with a First Class in the courses listed above has access to more opportunities than someone who has 2.1 or 2.2 in a professional course like Law or Engineering. Just face the primary thing wey carry you come school. Nor let anybody whine you say school na scam. Education gives you access to opportunities, and gives you an analytical mind to judge outcomes in a complex society.

An angry youth leader from Uzo-Uwani in Enugu State was seen setting fire on a Tinubu's re-lection billboard located at Uzo-Uwani. The man was seen repeating the statement 'We don't want Tinubu in our land'. This is happening at a time more Nigerians in Nigeria and in the diaspora are calling for a change of government, following the increase in insecurity, inflation, unemployment, and a brutal decreasing standard of living. Never use this expression: 'I flashed her' or 'I flashed him' when you find yourself in a country where standard English is spoken. Examples are the United Kingdom, US, Australia, Canada, etc. REASON: It might be a slang for saying you called someone and hang up quickly for them to call you back in Nigeria, but in these countries, it means to show someone your unclothedness or nude, which is a very serious crime WHAT TO SAY INSTEAD: The standard English for that expression is 'I gave him or her a missed call' or 'I gave him or her a quick ring'. I hope you have learnt something today?

Adakintroy:If this is all you could think as the educated person you claim to be, then Nigeria is really in a sorry state. The future is bleak for the youth. |
Desmond Elliot as an actor is talented and exceptional, but as a leader, he really disappointed so many of us who cherished his personality. It was Desmond Elliot who kicked against social media at a time people were using social media to fight injustice. It was Desmond Elliot who called adults children at a sensitive time just for using social media to protest. Today, injustice has come to the same Desmond Elliot and he is running to the same social media to protest and complain. Today, he is going back to the same children to protest and complain. The World rotates and so does the table. What goes around must surely come around. Wetin happen for goat house fit happen for fowl house too. We must always remember that no matter where we go, we should never forget where we are coming from for the sake of tomorrow.

A Nigerian man has painfully cancelled his wedding due to the difference between his genotype and that of his partner. I just imagine the type of pain they must have passed through while discussing how to cancel the marriage and end the affair. This is why it is good to conduct a test before any talk of marriage. You cannot cheat nature. When e reach your turn, you go know say nothing concern vulture with clipper. WarriParrot Dear friends and loved ones,

For some days, the internet has been on fire over the alleged affair between the wife of Nigerian TV personality, Frank Edoho and singer, Chike. I am not the type of person that spends much time online following trending stories, and all that, but one thing I noticed is that each time the story pops up, and I view the comments, I feel so ashamed at some of our young Nigerian mothers. What are you teaching your sons and daughters when you openly support a cheating wife? Would you openly showcase such support if the victim happens to be your brother or son? Now, to the young men out there, let me give you a candid advice, and this is the gospel truth. Not every man out there is as meek as Frank Edoho. Some men out there are tigers and lions that belong to various cult groups. If you sleep with their wives, they will spend their time and money to make sure that you either leave the surface of the Earth, or you lose your hands and legs, and become useless in life. My secondary school classmate had his head butchered with a matchet, and his right leg cut off at Isolo, Lagos for romancing with another man's wife. Unfortunately, he could not make it, as he died in the hospital after four days. Whether a man is taking care of his wife or not, leave them alone. It is a family affair. God did not create you to be providing comfort or romance for women who lack such in their marriage. Please, it is not your duty to provide succour to a woman who lacks romance or care in her home. Just because you have six packs and a handsome face. Many men have gone. Be wise! This is not a bro code. It is a warning. There is something Warri people call 'To die kamala'. It means to die for something that is not worth it.

News just filtered in that celebrity businessman and nightlife promoter Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly lost his bid for the House of Representatives ticket in Imo State. He was seeking to represent the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Social media reactions have been swift, with many users mocking his defeat and suggesting he underestimated the ruthlessness of Nigerian politics. More details coming... I spent about 10 years working in Enugu as a project manager in the education sector, and during my 10 year-professional journey, I learnt certain things about the town. This can help you towards planning if you want to relocate to Enugu. 1. Traffic Laws: Traffic laws are very strict in Enugu. You dare not park your car by the side on a major road. You dare not beat traffic lights positioned in almost all parts of the town. If you do, your vehicle will be towed to MOT office or you pay huge fines. Dem nor dey hear 'Abeg'. 2. Relaxed Attitude: The people have a relaxed attitude. They don't rush when doing things. It is common for people to sit in a town-service bus for more than 30 minutes in Enugu, waiting for passengers to fill the bus. My first year in Enugu was uncomfortable because it is something different from what I was used to in Warri. You do not see people rushing to work in the morning, even bankers. Everyone seems to do it slow slow. 3. Peacefulness: Enugu is one of the most peaceful towns in Nigeria. During my 10-year stay, I did not hear or witness any inter-communal clash or anything similar. In fact, I really did not see anyone fighting publicly, except verbal clashes (quarrelling) on few occasions. 4. The Women: Enugu has the most beautiful women in Nigeria. It is only closely followed by Owerri. Out of every 10 young women you see, 6 would be pretty, and the rest might actually look presentable. My neck and my head had a quarrel the first day I landed in Enugu. My neck said my head was stressing it too much, because of the constant turning and looking. As a man, you need to be focused or else, you will get distracted if you allow the beauty of the women to overwhelm you. 5. Enugu is an 'Oringo' Town: You must have heard the singer, Flavour called Enugu 'Oringo' in some of his songs. Oringo is a slang in southeast Nigeria which means 'party'. Enugu is a place where more money is spent than it is made. From Cubana to Toscana, from Trans-Ekulu to Abakpa, from GRA to Independence Layout, from Agbani to Obiagu, it is all about Oringo. Forget it. Enugu is the only place you can see beer parlours and bars opened from morning till night, with people drinking during working hours on weekdays. About 60% of alcohol in southeast is consumed in Enugu. 6. Okpa and Pepsi: In Enugu, they don't joke with Okpa and Pepsi. Okpa is a local food made from Bambara beans. N500 Okpa and one chilled Pepsi will go a long way for the average man on the street. Don't play. 7. Beware of Abakpa at Night: Abakpa is the largest area in Enugu town. It is owned by the Nike people of Enugu-East LGA. It is a place where you find the good, the bad, and the ugly. They are called Abakpa Ndi Nti Ike for a reason. When interpreted in English, it means the set of people that are stubborn and do not heed to advice. Abakpa is a place you can get the cheapest accommodation in Enugu if you are a beginner. It is also a place you need to be careful and mind your business. Nor dey waka waka for inside Abakpa for night, or else boys wey nor get joy go help you keep your property for you. 8. Choice Areas to Live: If you are financially buoyant, the best places to stay in Enugu with good security and road networks, beautiful environment, and magnificent buildings are Trans-Ekulu, Independence Layout, and GRA. 9. Water Issues: Enugu is a hilly place. It is good for hikers, but one issue that the town usually face is water shortage due to the topography. I hope the current governor, Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah will address that soon. 10. Always Cook at Home on Sundays: If you are a bachelor or spinster, make sure you get ingredients on Saturday to cook on Sunday, else na hunger go kpai you. Enugu people don't joke with Sunday relaxation and outing. No matter the profits their business is generating, they don't sacrifice their Sundays for anything. Most shops and restaurants are closed. Even shops where the owners live in same building. I am not from Enugu State. I am from Niger Delta, so this post has been written with an unbiased view. Happy weekend everyone! L

mayorall:I am deeply grateful to Mayorall for this thoughtful and generous initiative to reward active Nairalanders who consistently create helpful, informative, and educational threads that enrich the community. It is inspiring to see someone recognize the value of knowledge-sharing and choose to invest in the growth of content creators. This gesture goes beyond giving out laptops; it is an encouragement to continue contributing meaningfully and using our skills to impact others positively. As an educational content creator and marketing content writer, winning a laptop would significantly transform the way I work and help me scale my business to a higher level. My work revolves around researching, writing, designing, and publishing content that educates, informs, and helps businesses communicate effectively with their target audience. A reliable laptop is one of the most important tools for achieving this. In my educational content business, I create articles, tutorials, and explanatory materials that simplify complex topics for students, professionals, and everyday learners. I also plan to expand into producing e-books, online courses, presentation slides, and video lessons. With a laptop, I will be able to conduct in-depth research, write and edit high-quality materials, design engaging visuals, and manage my content more efficiently. This will allow me to reach more people and provide valuable knowledge that can help them grow academically and professionally. As a marketing content writer, I help brands craft persuasive content that attracts customers and drives sales. This includes website copy, blog posts, product descriptions, email campaigns, and social media content. A laptop will enable me to work faster, handle multiple projects, use professional writing and design tools, and deliver better results to clients. Ultimately, this will increase my earning potential and help me build a sustainable business. Beyond improving my business, the laptop will also enhance my contribution to Nairaland and the wider online community. I intend to continue creating educational threads, sharing practical insights, and offering valuable information that empowers others to learn new skills and discover opportunities. Winning this laptop would not just be a gift; it would be a powerful investment in my dreams, productivity, and ability to make a greater impact. It would help me grow my content creation business, serve more clients, and continue using knowledge to educate and inspire others. Once again, I sincerely thank Mayorall for this generous opportunity and for supporting Nairalanders who are committed to adding value to the forum and to society. If selected, I will make the most of this laptop and use it to create even more meaningful and impactful content. |
