The principles that worked in 1918 are still constant in 2099. Examples are gravity, karma, sowing and reaping, diligence and success etc. Africa will not move forward as long as it continues to have people like you who are quick to discard a hypothesis and lazzy to do a research to find out if it's a fact or not. A European would get up and start working to prove the assertion made earlier but an African would roll in his bed and call it crap.
Listen to yourself. In 2026, you are still here telling us about bush babies and kolanuts, while youths in other climes are using science and technology to change the world, and you still shamelessly mentioned growth and Africa? You should not have mentioned growth and Africa at all, considering your narratives. What impact have people made in the world with kolanuts and bush baby stories?

Same Africans who claim they possess spiritual powers to disappear or stop bullets in the air were subdued by the whites. Where were the gods and spiritual powers? Maybe they were on vacation in Maldives.

If you are really serious about hunting bush baby, go about 100km far deep into a thick forest in the middle of the night like around 1am to 2am. Hold 3 kola nuts, 3 bitter kolas and 3 walnuts, when you see an iroko tree, go there, then call out to the bush baby to come out and have the nuts. Come back and tell us what you see.
Forget this crap you are saying. This is 2026. This is not 1918. That is why Africa has refused to move forward.

Taking mango and coke is not a myth….

I dare you to try it
It is not only a myth. It is also a hoax. Some of you argue not because you have facts or evidences, but just for the sake of disapproving an idea because you hold a contrary idea.
Culture5 Childhood Myths In Nigeria by Rapmoney(op): 1:11pm On Feb 07
1. Guava seeds cause appendicitis: The idea that guava seeds cause appendicitis is false. Appendicitis is primarily caused by infection or fecal obstruction of the appendix, and not directly from swallowing seeds. However, it is good to chew seeds properly, especially for fruits like guava, or pomegranates. Undigested seeds of some fruits may cause a blockage in the appendix, but cases are very rare. I had friends in primary school who never ate guava for the fear of appendicitis.

2. Large snakes keep diamonds: This is another myth we believed when growing up. Snakes, whether large or small do not keep diamonds. There is no relationship between flesh, bone and blood and diamonds which are minerals. Funny enough, some adults still believe this crap till date. If you believe that diamonds are found in snakes, you should also believe that crude oil is found in monkeys.

3. Heaven is in the skies and hell is underground: I do not want this post to be a religious debate so I will not delve into the existence of heaven and hell, but the mindset that heaven is located in the skies, while hell lies under our feet is as foolish as foolishness. These are abstract things that are not concrete. They are only in your mind subconsciously.

4. Witches and wizards fart on transformers to cause power outage: Whenever transformers exploded, they blamed old men and women in the area of suspected witchcraft. This was common in Old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States). The truth is that majority of those transformers were old and fit to be discarded, but due to poor governance, corruption and lack of accountability, they were still put to use, and they were serving beyond their capacity. Area believe say nah winch mess for transformer, so transformer blow!

5. Taking Coke and mango is harmful: This is another myth and a stupid idea we believed as kids. There is no scientific fact to that, and nobody has been found to be harmed after taking Coke and mango. There is no scientific evidence that supports the claim. It is just a myth.

Or the one were you want to be the first 10 to watch the latest film such that on the day it is to be returned by the person who rented it, you would go to the video club about 3times that day before you get to see the person dropping it?

TV/MoviesThrowback: Do You Still Remember Movie Rental Shops? (Picture) by Rapmoney(op): 1:43pm On Feb 04
From the early 90s to around 2003, one common way of watching movies was through movie rental shops where you could register with a small amount of money, and obtain access to movies (both local and foreign).

Na this movie rental shop, popularly called 'video club' we take rent movies like Issakaba, Suicide Mission, Died Wretched: Buried in 2.5m Casket, Sakobi, Samadora, Karishika, Glamour Girls, Battle of Muzanga, Igbudu, Uncle Wayward, Rituals, Mr Ibu, Common Man, Aki Na Ukwa, Osuofia In London, End of the Wicked, and a host of others.

We also rented foreign movies like Delta Force (Chuck Norris), Nam Angels, Jungle Rat, Cyborg (Van Damme), Return From The River Kwai, The Never Ending Story, Escape From Sobibor, The Rock (Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery), Titanic, The Wizard of Oz, Jack the Giant Killer, Sinbad and the Seven Seas, The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, etc.

Kai, I feel so nostalgic to see those movies again.

No, I've never drunk from a bottle with a snake in it and never will.

I was once offered tequila in Mexico City though, and was told the gold in it would make me goldy, and I failed to convince the foøl offering it that the gold colouring was either caramel coloring, sugar-based syrup, or oak extract added to unaged silver tequila.

What annoyed was being asked to pay above the odds for it, because it pretty much sounded like a babalawo asking for payment in advance for juju money instead of afterwards with the juju money.

I doubt I could be convinced a drink with a snake in it would immunize one to snake bites, but if anyone wants to prove me wrong ..........
I do not see any connection between a bottle of gin containing snake and antivenom.

It depends on what the people who take it believe in. If they feel it can protect them against snake bite, then that is their belief, but for me, I cannot take it because I believe in lab tested antivenom.

As a typical proud urhobo man that I am,I haven't tasted it,tho I've heard of it but hasn't seen it with my eyes.
I have seen it several times. Some years back, I was offered a glass, but I refused because I looked into the bottle and saw scale particles of the snake floating in the drink, and I became irritated.

This is not true oga. These are snakes soaked into different preservatives and chemical majorly for practicals purposes in schools and research centers . Which one is snake wine. Go to first generation schools and you will see them in their biology laboratories.

Have you ever seen people drinking local gin from a bottle containing snake before? It is common among the riverine people of Southern Nigeria, especially, the Ijaws and Urhobos. They call it snake wine.

People take it for different reasons. Some take it for protection against snake bite, while others take it with the belief that it prevents snakes from coming close to them or harming them.

HOW IT IS DONE: It is usually done with a live snake forced into a bottle. Dead snakes are not used. Then local gin is poured into the bottle. The strong nature of the gin kills the snake and the bottle is shaken vigorously with the snake inside. It is then served by pouring into glass cups for everyone to enjoy.

PropertiesEnugu Property Agents: Agents Of Darkness (picture) by Rapmoney(op): 9:55am On Jan 28
It is very obvious that Enugu property agents are agents of darkness and handy tools to keep people down in the mud. A city where most of the jobs have salaries that do not go beyond 60k to 70k per month, yet these property agents of darkness want to finish people with agent fee.

How can you tell someone to pay 250k agent fee for a one bedroom flat that costs 600k per year? This same agent might be living in a zinc house in one slum area where the rent is 3k every month.

Now take a look at this attached advert and see what Enugu agents are doing to people. Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu State, and the Enugu State House of Assembly need to look into this matter asap.

Nigerians have a fundamental problem. I created this thread to discuss the high cost of basic things like food, but I am surprised that people are more interested in the taste of sardines, and how they like or do not like it. It is terrible.
FoodTitus: When Last Did You Eat This? (Pictures) by Rapmoney(op): 4:59pm On Dec 29, 2025
When last did you eat this? It is a pity that many Nigerians can no longer afford foods that are meant to be affordable.

I remember the lyrics of late Christopher Wallace aka Notorious B.I.G. in his 1994 single titled 'Juicy'. In the song, Wallace said that he used to eat sardines for dinner way back when he was broke.

Some years back, former Manchester United's striker, Romelu Lukaku from Belgium said in an interview that he and his mum used to feed on bread and milk when they were poor. Imagine!

Now can the average Nigerian comfortably afford common foods like sardines, bread and milk for dinner? When there is inflation and the minimum wage is $47 per month?

Average Nigerians spend the larger part of their income on basic things like food. Food is one of the basic needs of man. It is compulsory for survival. It is more important than education, or any other thing.
