If anyone likes, let him or her kick against the OP.

Such can go and teach in Nigerian private school

For someone like me that did a fair job of teaching and going far to see my learners excel without cheating, I know it's a slavery and pathway to penury. I got grey hair even when my elders havnt gotten a single strand. Na forget o

If you find your way there, let it be for a session. Do your best to find a trade. It pays better in Nigeria now

But if the govt is able to reform the policies binding private schools welfare, it could become advisable to go in if one has the passion
I have already asked one here who countered me to make sure that all his family members find their way into teaching positions in private schools. Let him do that, then he can come back to counter me.

1.Your progress or your growth is on you ...not the proprietor. If he's interested in your growth it is for his benefit ...not yours.

2. You should figure out your career path and work towards it. As in opening your own school. Keep your creativ ideas to yourself. ..establish a reputation at the school ... so when you're ready to start your own ... it will be easy to lure pupils.

3.If you follow 2 ... 3 cannot happen.

4. The school set the behaviour standard of the pupils. Bad behaviour ... it's on the school. Children are not disciplined because of f ar the parent may pull the child and that would be less money. The bottom line of such chools is money over everything ...number of pupils is all that matter....whether they behave or learn doesn't matter.

5. As a teacher you have a better chance to meet the people you want to meet . Parents are in all walks of life and you can make connections through them. Emeka's father is a Bank manager .. and you want to get into banking ...do you apply for a job like thousands of others?...or you connect through the father?
Your comment shows that you are this type of Nigerian who believes that people should continue certain patterns because it is 'NORMAL' in Nigeria. Looking at your point 4, it is very obvious.

Again, your last point shows that you do not read to comprehend. I clearly stated that most of these parents who are professionals or well-connected would not want to help you because they would actually want you to stay and teach their kids. You did not counter that view but rushed to give example of a banker parent and bla bla bla. What a huge misunderstanding.

Just the way one of the Tom, Dick, and Harry has invaded my thread to type nonsense. For your information, I know what is obtainable in private schools than you who claim to be a parent. Why not make sure all your family members find themselves in these mushroom private schools springing up everywhere? I created a thread to express my opinion on something I have been part of. This post is a mirror held up to thousands of Nigerian graduates. Look into it and see your future if you stay.

Private school teaching is not a career. It is a holding cell. You are not building; you are waiting. You are not growing; you are surviving. And survival is not living.

The blackpill knows: The owners will not save you. The parents will not save you. The government will not save you. Only you can save you.

Learn a skill. Any skill. Save every kobo you can. Use your nights and weekends to build an exit. And when you have enough, leave. Do not look back. Do not wait for a farewell party. Just go.

Because 10 years from now, if you are still in that private school, you will be older, more tired, and exactly the same. And the only person to blame will be the one in the mirror
My brother, it's not worth it. That is why I created this thread.

You should be ashamed of yourself as a parent for jumping into a thread that you know nothing about. That you are a parent who has kids in a private school does not mean you have an atom of knowledge about what I posted up there. You commented not just as a parent, but as a selfish one. You are only concerned about the professionalism of the teachers, but you are not concerned about their career growth or welfare.

I said it that most of the people that would counter me have never been in the school system. Their opinions are laced with sentiments either as parents or people who typically lack knowledge of what I posted.

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULDN’T WORK IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL FOR LONG AS A GRADUATE

I know that sometimes, life can give you lime when you want lemonade or orange juice, but you cannot continue to hold onto the lime just because life has served you that. Many intelligent Nigerian graduates with degrees and certificates that are not in Education have found themselves stuck in private school jobs where they have been struggling for years with low pay and premium frustration. Below are 5 reasons why you should not stay long working in a private school, especially, if your degree or certificate is not in Education.
1) Most private school owners are not interested in your progress or growth. They are only concerned with how you can bring in your best to their school without any corresponding reward. They want you to go out of your way to do great things for the school, but they would never think of paying you something that will adequately reward your hard work. Your creative ideas would grow their school, but after 5 years, take a look at your life, and you would discover that the only entities that grew are the business and its owner.

2) Working in a private school makes you not to have a clear-path career. You might think you are growing, but you are not. Most of these private schools have no structure. They have been established to make quick money for their owners. Take a critical look at the people you know about 10 years ago who have been working in private schools and have focused solely on that job. How many of them can you say have grown financially and career-wise in life? Be truthful to yourself. The highest position you can get is thr position of a principal or headteacher with a pay of about 80k or 100k. I know teachers can grow in their career in public schools, but same is not obtainable in private schools.

3) Most of these private schools in Nigeria use you till you lose focus in life. They would suck you dry like pure water and throw you away when the juice is gone. Sometimes, they use series of useless meetings where they discuss same issues to take away your public holidays. I have seen private schools where the teachers are asked to come to school on Saturdays and even on Sundays to present what they will teach the students the following week to their stream heads. Some of these teachers do not even earn above 50k in a month. If that is not slavery, then I wonder what it is. You would not even have the time to engage in any physical business. And if you venture to establish a physical business, just know that the person you are going to place in charge will definitely reap you off!

4) Our societal and African values have been bastardized by these so-called new generation parents where kids no longer respect their teachers. I have seen kids call their teachers ‘stupid man, ‘useless woman', ‘poor yeye man', and all sort of names. When such issues are reported, the school owners, out of greed, usually do nothing. They are afraid that if the misbehaving kids are disciplined, their parents might withdraw them from the school. If you do not want to be in a workplace where you are abused by kids who weren’t even born while you were in the university, avoid private school job. If you must do it, do not stay for long. Be building up skills that can make you escape such type of survival jobs.

5) The people you meet who can give you a life-changing opportunity while doing your work as a teacher is highly limited. The wealthy parents of your students will not help you. I am repeating it, they will not help you. Do not be deceived, no matter how brilliant or creative you think you are. Do you think they would want to help someone who is creative, brilliant, and resourceful to leave the job? Someone who they know is impacting positively in the life of their kid? No! They would rather see you remain in that job till their kid graduates, and when other kids come in, their parents also want same, and the cycle continues.

As a graduate, learn a skill please. If your salary is above minimum wage, you have to take the pains to save aggressively. You will have to deprive yourself of pleasurable events. With the saved money, you can quit your job and invest your savings in a business that you have studied. You must take the bull by the horns or else, you go suffer real suffer. Nor be joke oooo. Private school work nor be work. Na suffer head work.

Many men have failed to understand that womanizing is a game for the rich. It is a practice for people who have in abundance. It is not actually what you want that matters in life, but what is required...what is necessary at every particular time. This is not a moral advice. It is a financial advice.

Hoodrat:
Encouraging young Nigerians to sell family land or liquidate their inheritance just to escape is not advice it is a dangerous mindset that has destroyed more futures than it has saved. Migration is a right, but turning desperation into a strategy is how people end up stranded abroad, cut off from home, and unable to return to the very land that once belonged to their lineage.

Family land is not just soil.
It is identity, security, generational continuity, and the one asset that protects a family from total collapse.
Once it is gone, it is gone forever.

The same people telling young Nigerians to sell everything and run never mention the thousands who: arrived abroad with no skills and no plan, overstayed visas and lost legal status, became trapped in low‑wage jobs they can’t escape
cannot return home because they sold the only property their family had , now live in limbo neither fully abroad nor fully Nigerian
These stories are real, but they never make it into the motivational japa threads.

Leaving Nigeria is not the problem.
The problem is encouraging people to destroy their foundation before they even know what awaits them considering the racist and anti immigration atmosphere especially in today’s global climate where immigration systems are tightening and anti‑immigrant sentiment is rising across Europe, America, and Australia. People are not being told the full story.
There are thousands of Africans especially Nigerians abroad who are: living in shelters, sleeping in train stations and under bridges, stuck in immigration limbo for years, unable to work legally, mentally exhausted from constant rejection, detained for immigration violations, isolated with no support system , unable to return home because they sold the only property their family owned
These stories are real. Search YouTube the evidence is everywhere.

A person who sells their inheritance for a one‑way ticket is not migrating they are gambling their entire bloodline on hope.

And the irony? The same people shouting run! online:

still have their own family land intact

still have homes to return to

still have relatives abroad funding them

still have safety nets

still have dual citizenship or foreign passports

They are not sacrificing anything.
They are asking others to sacrifice everything.
I do not need to debate with you. Nigerians who are homeless abroad like you claimed, how did they enter the country and what skills do they possess? Skilled Nigerians who enter western countries legally are never stranded. Stop this negativity. It has outlived its thriving days of darkness.

For your information, there are millions of Nigerians living in abject POVERTY even in their own country NIGERIA.

You talked about ancestral land. Please what is ancestral about the land? The same ancestral lands that are sold all over Nigeria for reasons that are not even attached to Japa? Abeg talk another thing. This your opinion is stale.
TravelMy Candid Advice To Young Nigerians Who Want To Japa by Rapmoney(op): 3:08pm On Feb 28
Lately, I have been seeing different threads online created solely to discourage young Nigerians from travelling abroad. One particular thing common among these posts is how the writers unrealistically make oppornities in Nigeria seem equal or even greater to those that abound in Europe, America, Canada, or Australia. That is very ridiculous. We are not blind. We know the current state of Nigeria - from epileptic power supply, hyper inflation, to monster insecurity. I saw a video where a young youth corp member was being tortured by bandits in the north as if we were living in the 1720s. Until now, the authorities and security agencies have not made any statement on it. Why would they? It is 'normal' in Nigeria.

Last year, I travelled to a state in the Niger Delta Region for a project. An entire local government area has not seen light for donkey years. In some parts of the state, people do not use electricity up to 10 minutes in a day. Then, you have remote workers in these places. You have artisans who need electricity for their business. These people spend hell on purchasing fuel, and by the end of the day, their profits cannot even make them have access to a decent life. Tomorrow, when their business crumbles, you call them 'lazy people'.

As a young Nigerian, if you have the means to travel to access better opportunities, DO NOT ALLOW anyone to discourage you. Some of these people who try to discourage you have family members abroad who have established businesses for them here. Some of them might even be living abroad, but you do not know that. Some are beneficiaries of the failed systems and institutions in Nigeria. If your country was okay, why are the children of your leaders living in developed countries? Shouldn't this country be good for them instead?

Countries that have thriving economies do not even have citizens who discourage their fellow citizens from travelling, talk more of a country that has failing systems and institutions.

How does another man's decision to travel affect your own life? The decision to travel for greener pastures, better social amenities, and guaranteed security is a personal thing, and should not give other people headache. Why you dey swallow panadol for another man headache?

You dey Nigeria dey earn 40k as a private school teacher, and you dey allow another man wey dey Sweden dey earn millions with better security and healthcare to brainwash you. You go die poor ooo! Nor go find scholarships or sell family land. Dey there.

A Nigerian woman has made a video, accusing Nigerian Minister of Works, David Nweze Umahi of owing her the sum of 250 million Naira for contracts for the past 12 years, and has refused to pay her because she rejected his request for a relationship.

The video was made before she was arrested by the police on the order of Mr Umahi. She has been taken to Abuja, and has insisted that David Umahi was intimidating her.

Political activist, Omoleye Sowore has also accused David Umahi of using government power to intimidate citizens over personal issues. Sowore accosted Umahi at the police headquarters yesterday while Umahi had arranged with police for the woman to be presented, where he ended up threatening her. There were altercations between Mr Sowore and security personnel of the minister.

It's traditional practice. It's done in certain parts of cross rivers state as I mentioned earlier. Some bodies stay there for up to 3 or more years.

I watched a documentary series on it a long time ago. I can't remember why they keep the bodies that long again. But it happens. In the documentary I recall sometimes rats eat the bodies were they are kept so some relatives have to be assigned at night to keep watch over the bodies.

It happens... it's some traditional practiced way of keeping bodies preserved until ready for burial!
That is very bad. It is a health hazard to members of the public. What if those rats enter people's kitchens after eating the dead bodies?

The Nigeria Police over the week, discovered an illegal mortuary at Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross-Rivers State. Dead and embalmed bodies were seen resting on the walls of the mortuary. It was a gory sight to behold. Why would people establish mortuaries without the consent of the authorities? There are many more scattered all over the 36 states of Nigeria that have not been discovered. This pose a health hazards for citizens, as the state governments, local authorities, and health agencies are not aware of the existence of such places.

The operator of the mortuary has been arrested. During interrogation, he admitted that even the owner of the land where the mortuary has been established was not aware of such.

To you, kolanut is not relevant in 2026? Wow. If China alone has just half of the amount of herbs and roots that you people have in Nigeria, the advancement they could have recorded in science and medicine would have nearly made people immortal.
In Africa you have good weather, favourable climate, good soil, natural resources in abundance, yet you can't make good use of these things for your development but you abandon them and keep running to America or Europe for survival. That is why organisations in Europe will come to your country to import your cocoa, cotton, gold, rubber, crude oil and still bring them back to sell for you in form of chocolates, coffee, fabrics, jewelleries, tyres, petroleum at exorbitant prices.
I reiterate to you again that you people in Africa won't grow or make much progress because you see yourselves as inferior people, you people don't know what you have and you are contented with the little you know. That is why other continents like Asia have left you far far behind.
You still ended up saying nothing other than a long epistle of glorified ignorance.
