Career / Ways You Can Avoid Being Used By Selfish Nigerian Employers by Rapmoney(m): 11:17am On Apr 03 |
1. YOUR SALARY IS NOT PART OF YOUR EMPLOYER'S PROFIT : The money your employer pays you monthly as salary is not part of his profit; it is part of his or her cost of running the business. Since you do not share in his or her profits, you should not also share in their losses. There is an agreement between you and your employer that you are going to carry out specific duties which you will be paid for. Anything that makes your employer to pay you half salary in a month or withhold your salary due to so-called absence of funds should not be acceptable. If an employer cannot pay workers, he or she should close down the business or sell it off. 2. IF YOU SEE YOURSELF IN AN ORGANIZATION THAT DOESN'T ISSUE EMPLOYMENT LETTERS: Whenever you find yourself working in an organization that does not issue employment letters to workers, just know that you are not working but just 'hustling'. Such type of employees do not deserve resignation letter when you want to leave. Just leave when you want to leave; don't dignify them by giving them a resignation letter. If you are not worthy to be issued an employment letter, they are not also worthy to receive a resignation letter from you. Do not dignify them with one. There is no binding labour law backed by the constitution between both of you. 3. DO NOT WORK BEYOND YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION : Humans are very selfish oftentimes. When you go out of your way to carry out other duties that are not included in your job description, they automatically become part of your job description. Everybody likes mumu, but the day mumu becomes wise, mumu will become a bad person. That's how how some private school owners use their teachers to do odd jobs such as clearing grasses, cooking and doing domestic chores. I have a friend who used to work in a private school. Within 3 months of employment, his boss converted him to a driver and personal assistant while still working as a teacher on top 30k salary. 4. IF YOU SPEND YOUR YOUTHFUL DAYS...: If you spend your youthful days working for people, you may end up a poor sad fellow in old age. As you dey work, make you dey invest too. 93 Likes 12 Shares

I went to the market to buy Akpu two days ago because I was very hungry for swallow food but the size of 100 Naira Akpu (fufu) has been giving me sleepless nights. This used to be my favourite swallow. I kept turning on the bed restlessly last night each time I remembered the size of Akpu that goes for 100 Naira now. Abeg, wetin dey happen for Naija? Abi na to migrate to Gambia or Gabon? I don't really know what this country is turning into. na so the size of 100 Naira Akpu be for una area? 39 Likes 4 Shares

Food / Inflation: See The Food I Bought For 1K (photo) by Rapmoney(m): 6:19pm On Jan 11 |
I remember eating in this same restaurant in 2018. Then, the food was just NGN350. Today, I visited same restaurant and same food I used to eat now cost NGN1000. One small fufu wey nor even reach small pikin fist and meat wey nor even reach small agbalumo. Only 4 hands of swallow I took and the whole fufu was gone. Na vex I take comot from the restaurant. How do low income earners in Nigeria survive? It is really terrible out there. Many Nigerians now spend their monthly income on food! |
Religion / TB Joshua: Nigerians And The Problem Of Sentimental Judgements by Rapmoney(m): 12:05pm On Jan 10 |
For some days now, the Nigerian online space has been filled with news concerning the alleged atrocities of late Temitope Joshua aka Prophet TB Joshua. It is pertinent to note that I have observed, times without number, the manner in which many Nigerians pass judgements. We usually react to issues and pass judgements on events based on sentiments and all manner of emotional attachments. Within these few days, I have seen people make videos and post online where they vehemently and authoritatively defend the late pastor that he was never involved in the acts that the accusers have alleged he was involved in. I have seen these people defend the late pastor with so much confidence that makes me wonder if we as humans are being rational and realistic when we vouch for people that we don't even know their true nature deep inside, apart from what we see outside of them. Don't get it twisted here. I'm not saying the events that played on BBC have been found to be true. What I'm saying is that you cannot defend something you don't know or fully understand. We as humans can only vouch for ourselves and not for others because what you think it is might not be what it is. People who were close to the late prophet have come out to say these were the things the man did. You sitiing in your house that is hundreds of kilometers away from the Synagogue could not have known the man better than them. Why defend what you don't know? If a sibling of yours was involved in the alleged atrocities, I am very sure that by now, you would have thrown away that ill-fitting religious garment you have used to blindfold yourself. Most times, an injustice only becomes a crime to many Nigerians when it affects them either directly or indirectly. We should be pushing for further investigation into the matter to ascertain whether the late prophet is falsely being accused or if the alleged atrocities were actually committed. Whichever way the pendulum swings to, both parties (TB Joshua's family/Synagogue and the accusers) can seek redress and compensation at the court of law. If the events that played on BBC had been about a late Bhuddist leader, an African herbalist or a leader from any other group, I bet you, many of these folks would have been screaming and calling on the government to destroy their place of worship. Religion is meant to make us create and mantain a relationship with the Creator. It should not make us to become stupid and shallow. Cc: Seun, Lalasticlala, Mynd44, Nlfpmod

Family / Nostalgic Throwback: How 80s And 90s Kids Looked Like During Christmas by Rapmoney(m): 3:29pm On Oct 15, 2023 |
If you grew up as a Nigerian kid in the 80s and 90s, you can surely relate to this. Fondest memories. Please share your 80s and 90s Christmas experiences as a kid. Few days preceding Christmas, we used to shoot toy guns with pipes gotten from old abandoned refrigerators. This was before knockouts and bangers were introduced. We would add the head of a matchstick and fire with a loud sound. Some kids used to dig the ground to make a particular spoon shape and pour hot led gotten from condemned battery to make a loud sounding device called 'Agadagbo'. Old Bendel kids can relate. 139 Likes 10 Shares
