Crime / 81-Year-Old Ohio Man Shoots Uber Driver Over Scam Allegations (Video) by Rapmoney(m): 1:44pm On Apr 18

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3ut__kV3KE

An 81-year-old Ohio man has been charged in the fatal shooting of an Uber driver he believed was working with a scammer, according to officials who said the victim was sent to the home by the same scammer.

William Brock told investigators he shot Loletha Hall, 61, outside his home March 25 because he thought she was working with a man who called him pretending to be an officer at the local court, Lt. Kristopher Shultz of the Clark County Sheriff's Office said.

"Mr. Brock received some scam call by a person purporting to be someone from our courts who informed him a family member was incarcerated and that he had a bond of a significant amount of money," Shultz said. "The calls turned from 'I'm an officer in the court' to 'We have this subject hostage, this is a ransom demand.'"

The person who called Brock, or an accomplice, requested an Uber ride to his South Charleston home to pick up the money, Shultz said.

"Ms. Hall did not have any idea," he added.

When Hall arrived at the home and approached the front door, Brock confronted her with a gun and asked her who she was working for, Shultz said. He took her cellphone and prevented her from getting in her vehicle and driving away.

When she tried to get away, he shot her once, then there was more exchange between them," Shultz said. "Mr. Brock was at some point injured to his head, and he shot Ms. Hall a second time. There was more conversation, and then he shot her a third time. Only after he shot her a third time did he then make contact with authorities to report the incident."

Hall did not threaten Brock, have a weapon or assault him, according to the sheriff's office and a complaint filed in Clark County Municipal Court. She was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries, according to the complaint.

In a statement, Uber said the company had spoken with Hall's family.

"This is a horrific tragedy and our hearts continue to be with Loletha’s loved ones as they grieve," an Uber spokesperson said. "We have been in contact with law enforcement and remain committed to supporting their investigation."

The Uber spokesperson said the account of the person who ordered a car to Brock's house has been banned. Officials have not identified the person who requested the Uber and have not said whether they have made any additional arrests in connection with the case.

In a grand jury presentation Monday, Brock was indicted on three counts of murder, one count of felonious assault and one count of kidnapping, Shultz said. He will be arraigned on those charges later this week.

It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.

Brock was originally arraigned on a murder charge in the Municipal Court of Clark County on Wednesday and posted a $200,000 bond. If convicted of that charge, he could be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison or a $15,000 fine.

Career / Ways You Can Avoid Being Used By Selfish Nigerian Employers by Rapmoney(m): 11:17am On Apr 03
1. YOUR SALARY IS NOT PART OF YOUR EMPLOYER'S PROFIT : The money your employer pays you monthly as salary is not part of his profit; it is part of his or her cost of running the business. Since you do not share in his or her profits, you should not also share in their losses. There is an agreement between you and your employer that you are going to carry out specific duties which you will be paid for. Anything that makes your employer to pay you half salary in a month or withhold your salary due to so-called absence of funds should not be acceptable. If an employer cannot pay workers, he or she should close down the business or sell it off.

2. IF YOU SEE YOURSELF IN AN ORGANIZATION THAT DOESN'T ISSUE EMPLOYMENT LETTERS: Whenever you find yourself working in an organization that does not issue employment letters to workers, just know that you are not working but just 'hustling'. Such type of employees do not deserve resignation letter when you want to leave. Just leave when you want to leave; don't dignify them by giving them a resignation letter. If you are not worthy to be issued an employment letter, they are not also worthy to receive a resignation letter from you. Do not dignify them with one. There is no binding labour law backed by the constitution between both of you.

3. DO NOT WORK BEYOND YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION : Humans are very selfish oftentimes. When you go out of your way to carry out other duties that are not included in your job description, they automatically become part of your job description. Everybody likes mumu, but the day mumu becomes wise, mumu will become a bad person. That's how how some private school owners use their teachers to do odd jobs such as clearing grasses, cooking and doing domestic chores. I have a friend who used to work in a private school. Within 3 months of employment, his boss converted him to a driver and personal assistant while still working as a teacher on top 30k salary.

4. IF YOU SPEND YOUR YOUTHFUL DAYS...: If you spend your youthful days working for people, you may end up a poor sad fellow in old age. As you dey work, make you dey invest too.

The economy is really biting hard on Nigerians. People easily get irritated these days. Watch the moment two women fight at Fidelity Bank ATM in Enugu.

The woman on yellow top was on the queue but decided to enter the banking hall to resolve an issue. When she came out, she was not allowed to join the queue as she was told by the other woman to go and start afresh. She didn't take it lightly and they started fighting. The security personnel was rough handled in the process.

One small fufu wey nor even reach small pikin fist and meat wey nor even reach small agbalumo. Only 4 hands of swallow I took and the whole fufu was gone. Na vex I take comot from the restaurant.

Religion / TB Joshua: Nigerians And The Problem Of Sentimental Judgements by Rapmoney(m): 12:05pm On Jan 10
For some days now, the Nigerian online space has been filled with news concerning the alleged atrocities of late Temitope Joshua aka Prophet TB Joshua. It is pertinent to note that I have observed, times without number, the manner in which many Nigerians pass judgements. We usually react to issues and pass judgements on events based on sentiments and all manner of emotional attachments.

Within these few days, I have seen people make videos and post online where they vehemently and authoritatively defend the late pastor that he was never involved in the acts that the accusers have alleged he was involved in. I have seen these people defend the late pastor with so much confidence that makes me wonder if we as humans are being rational and realistic when we vouch for people that we don't even know their true nature deep inside, apart from what we see outside of them. Don't get it twisted here. I'm not saying the events that played on BBC have been found to be true. What I'm saying is that you cannot defend something you don't know or fully understand. We as humans can only vouch for ourselves and not for others because what you think it is might not be what it is.

People who were close to the late prophet have come out to say these were the things the man did. You sitiing in your house that is hundreds of kilometers away from the Synagogue could not have known the man better than them. Why defend what you don't know? If a sibling of yours was involved in the alleged atrocities, I am very sure that by now, you would have thrown away that ill-fitting religious garment you have used to blindfold yourself.

Most times, an injustice only becomes a crime to many Nigerians when it affects them either directly or indirectly.

We should be pushing for further investigation into the matter to ascertain whether the late prophet is falsely being accused or if the alleged atrocities were actually committed. Whichever way the pendulum swings to, both parties (TB Joshua's family/Synagogue and the accusers) can seek redress and compensation at the court of law.

If the events that played on BBC had been about a late Bhuddist leader, an African herbalist or a leader from any other group, I bet you, many of these folks would have been screaming and calling on the government to destroy their place of worship.

Religion is meant to make us create and mantain a relationship with the Creator. It should not make us to become stupid and shallow.

Celebrities / 'I Am Dead To My Father' - Emeka Ike's Son, Michael by Rapmoney(m): 10:34am On Dec 27, 2023
Michael, son of the veteran actor, Emeka Ike has said that he is dead to his father and he does not need anything from him anymore.

Michael disclosed this during an interview with Chud on podcast, in reaction to his father’s video where he spoke about his family affair.

IKe’s son who stated that he was trying to make peace with his father said, “When I watched the video I was like God this is insane. Is this the person I want to form peace with? I was wondering what was going on. This family is trying to reason if they can get her to talk to him. I was thinking there is something we can get out of it.

“I told my sister to get to understand how things should play out. I’m not trying to dictate but my father felt I was dictating for him. I was trying to tell him what should happen in this incident. There should be peace somewhere.”

Michael then expressed his displeasure with the way his father was talking about their private affairs.

“I told him we need to talk. I added that I’m not happy about the way you’re talking about our private affairs. Can you just stop it? And I had to tell him the disrespect he left on the family. I decided that this not the kind of person I should have respect for,” he said.

Michael who condemned his father attitude noting that Ike told him he will never prosper.

The next morning I create ten minutes film. He sent mail to me, it’s not the first time, he had always sent mail to insult me. He said, ‘you’re doing music, you will never prosper. Don Jazzy will never see you. If I see you on the side of the road, I will spit on you", he disclosed.

Asked what he wanted from his father, Michael retorted, I’m dead to my father, I don’t need anything from him.”

He revealed how his ex-wife, Emma, made him lose all his properties.

”I was always saying, common I never beat this lady, I went on air, called her, ‘saying babe, do I beat you, but then they said, you are a star and they can always manipulate things and all that.”

“Later I discovered that she was actually the one behind the whole thing”.

“You have to be a very successful man to be a woman beater, , because no carpenter or poor man is a woman beater, and there are people like Iyabo ojo to back them up,” he added.

While speaking with journalists, Emeka Ike opened up about challenging moments in his life, including struggles in his marriage and clashes with fellow Nollywood actors.

If you grew up as a Nigerian kid in the 80s and 90s, you can surely relate to this. Fondest memories.

Please share your 80s and 90s Christmas experiences as a kid.

Few days preceding Christmas, we used to shoot toy guns with pipes gotten from old abandoned refrigerators. This was before knockouts and bangers were introduced. We would add the head of a matchstick and fire with a loud sound. Some kids used to dig the ground to make a particular spoon shape and pour hot led gotten from condemned battery to make a loud sounding device called 'Agadagbo'. Old Bendel kids can relate.
