Nissan used to be a very popular brand in Nigeria auto market just like Toyota and Honda. After the terrible experience that many Nigerians encountered with the Nissan Murano 2004 model, the value of Nissan depreciated greatly in the auto market in Nigeria.

This car literally made full grown adults to weep profusely. The car has a serious gearbox issue. I know people who still have theirs parked in their compound till today. The tyres have sank into the ground, the body of the car rusted, and rats and lizards have converted the car interior to their playground.

Many people, after realising that they bought problems with their money quickly went for smaller affordable cars that are durable. Some were lucky to sell the problem to others who were not that knowledgeable when it comes to automobiles.

Today, you can get a Nigerian used Nissan Murano for as low as 2.5 Million Naira.

I wonder how Nissan ended up producing such a beautiful problem.

Nor let anybody whine you. Car is a necessity and not a liability. Toyota Camry 2003/2004 model (Big for Nothing) still dey game. The car is strong and durable with less fuel consumption.

I find it really amusing when people say car is a luxury and liability. To be sincere, I see it as a way backward thinking. It clearly shows that the damage that a bad economy can cause to the brains of citizens and their way of reasoning is beyond what many of us can imagine.

It is only in this part of the world that people see car as luxury, and owning one is often seen as owning a liability. Let me tell you today for free, owning a car is owning an asset. In case you still do not understand it, A CAR IS AN ASSET AND NOT A LIABILITY.

Many Nigerians have always seen car as liability even when a litre of fuel was N47.

Benefits of Owning a Car

1. Comfort: A private car gives you comfort and makes you avoid the unnecessary troubles of Nigerian commuters. Many people are sad and depressed. Some are frustrated. They don't mind quarrelling with you over space inside keke or bus. Others don't mind keeping their loads on your legs just to inconvenience you inside a bus or Keke.

2. Ease of movement: There are type of places you stay, and you will understand the importance of owning a car. The distance of your house to the main road is something else. Just buy a car that you can easily maintain. The ones that have parts readily available in the market. I recommend Toyota products. Nor go buy car wey your power nor reach just to prove that you have arrived. Do not purchase a car that is unique and uncommon because you want to be the only one in town driving such. Na unique and uncommon problems dey wait you too.

If you are citing maintenance as reason not to buy a car, you may die without buying one. Nor be only car dem dey maintain. You also maintain house, wife, children, and even girlfriend.

We were greeted with the tragic news of a young lady, Mmesoma Umeorini from Uga Community in Anambra State few days ago. She was brutally murdered by her ex boyfriend, Chima Ofoeke. Mmesoma was just 23 years old!

Over the weekend, I have gotten concrete information from friends in Uga in Anambra State. One was even a kinsman from the same kindred. I have been briefed on what actually transpired between the late Mmesoma Umeorini and Chima Ofoeke. I totally condemn taking anybody's life for whatever reason, and I pray the laws of the land punishes the murderer adequately because by taking the life of the young lady, he has limited his own right to live. There is a popular idea in law that states that "Your right to swing your arms ends where the right to protect my nose starts". Chima Ofoeke deserves to die for taking someone's life.

Why Our Young Women Should Be Careful.

Chima Ofoeke rented a shop for the late Mmesoma Umeorini. He also rented an apartment for her. This could have cost him millions. Unknowingly to him, the girl was planning to get married to another man by December 2026. According to family sources, and information from the chairman of Uga Town Union, the man who was coming to marry her was planning to bring drinks in December, of which the family had been preparing for.

My Questions

1. Since you knew already that you would be getting married to someone else, why collect material things from a man you knew you weren't ready to spend the future with?

2. Why not refund him the money he had invested in you so far, rather than sending him a breakup text message? Just like that?

3. Why not tell him not to invest in you because you don't see any future with him while he was paying for a shop and apartment?

4. What did the parents of the 23 year old girl do when they discovered that their daughter was planning to get married to another man who isn't the one that has been sponsoring her? Did they even bother to know how the house and shop came about? That is another case of parental irresponsibility.

I would advise young Nigerian ladies to be careful with how they collect material things, money, gifts from men. Any meat you know you cannot chew, don't bite it. If you know you do not love a man to the extent of spending the future with him, cut off immediately and stop collecting things from him. It is the spirit of greed and "I am smart, I am smart" that lead to things like this. Be contented with what you can create for yourself. Do not prove to be too smart, because that 'smartness' can eventually lead to your untimely death.

A word is enough for the wise. Know your way nor be curse.
