20yr old Imo State indigene makes history as youngest graduate with a Commerical Pilot Licence!! All hail our son, Favour Nnaemeka Odozor of Ebeise Amucha autonomous community in Njaba LGA, in Orlu who has just emerged as the youngest with the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) in both Nigeria and South Africa. Odozor who graduated alongside 15 other trained pilots at the Afrika Union Aviation Academy (AUAA), Mafikeng, South Africa on Saturday was described as the new hope of the African aviation industry. Capt. Allan Roebuck, Director of AUAA, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Johannesburg that Mr. Odozor completed all the 37 flying procedures in record time. “The academy is proud of this young Nigerian, with the award of licence and certificate to him. Today, I can say he is the youngest commercial licence pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa. “I cannot say now if he is the youngest African to attain that record, but I’m sure he is the youngest in South Africa and Nigeria,’’ he said. The AUAA director noted that it requires a lot of hard work, focus, punctuality and discipline to be trained as a commercial pilot. “It is not enough to be academically sound to be a good pilot. It requires focus, punctuality, and discipline to get the commercial licence and certificate. “It has been a long road for the group of qualified pilots to obtain their licences. With the award of certificate, they can fly commercial planes,’’ Mr. Roebuck said. He said the new pilots underwent two years of rigorous training and 37 flying procedures. On his part, Mr. Odozor said he had always dreamt of becoming a pilot. “Flying a plane has been my childhood dream, and I am happy today that I’m a licensed commercial pilot at the age of 20. I never expected myself to be the youngest Nigerian to get the commercial pilot licence, not to talk about in an advanced country like South Africa. I was just pursuing my childhood dream of being a pilot. But I thank God that I have now made history, as a record licensed commercial pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa…. “Aviation training is very wide. This is just the beginning. My immediate plan is to enrol for my instrument type rating and Boeing 737 training courses,’’ Mr. Odozor said. Mr. Odozor has equalled the record set by Ed Gardner, a Briton, who obtained his commercial pilot licence at the age of 20 in 2008. Before heading for South Africa for training, the Nigerian attended Uchenna Secondary School in Owerri, the Imo State capital, graduating in 2009. BuddahMonk: We Igbos are fustrated in Nigeria, our safety has been compromised alot in this contraption, how can federal troops guarding an oil faclitiy inform insurgents that the owners of the property are around, they were there and fight started, they could not quench it because they have ulterior motives.I agree with you |
At the last meeting chaired by the Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr. M.B. Ahmad, with the deputy governors of the two states and a representative of the surveyor general of the federation in attendance, it was noted that the Anambra/Kogi interstate boundary was the boundary of the former Northern and Eastern regions described in the legal notice No 126 of 1954. [b]However, the people of Kogi were said to be insisting that despite the demarcated boundary between the old Kabba and old Onitsha provinces, the oil deposits in Omambala River belong to them. THIS GOES TO PROVES THAT THE BOUNDARY DEMARCATION HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY NBC AND THE OIL WELLS CLEARLY IN ANAMBRA STATE BUT THE KOGI PEOPLE ARE INSISTING THAT DESPITE THE DEMARCATION USING THE MAP OF NIGERIA, LEGAL NOTICE 126 OF 1954, MAP OF ONITSHA AND KABBA PROVINCE THE OIL WELLS BELONG TO THEM. Anambra governor spoke when a delegation from Awka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture paid him a courtesy call recently at the government house Awka, where he also revealed that when Orient Petroleum is completed, it would produce an initial capacity of twenty thousand barrels of oil per day which would attract oil and gas industries to the state. The Governor also said that the government will also take steps to enroll the state into the membership of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), even as the boundary adjustment with Kogi State is almost completed which has made it clear that the oil wells were in Anambra State. He affirmed that the state would soon approach the National Assembly for necessary legal framework to enable the state enjoy the benefits of being an oil producing state. He said that a joint field team was constituted to begin the tracing and provisional demarcation of the boundary. He said that the team had traced about 75 per cent of the boundary before it was stalled because access to the river Anambra was blocked by water hyacinth. This is as at 2013, currently, the boundary demarcation have been completed. http://www.hallmarknews.com/nbc-to-fast-track-demarcation-of-ebon%E2%80%8Byi-cross-river-boundary/ |
Obiano, Wada move to end border skirmishes on July 24, 2014 / in News 2:40 am / Comments Tweet By Nwabueze Okonkwo AWKA—Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has reached out to his Kogi State counterpart, Mr. Idris Wada, to put an end to the killings and destruction of property in their areas. Communities in the two states have been locked in clashes over oil discovered in the border between both states. Obiano, who spoke at a private hospital in Onitsha after visiting victims attacked by gunmen from Kogi State at a fishing community of Aguleri-Otu, Anambra East Local Government Area, said the two state governments would no longer tolerate the ugly situation. The governor said: “We are working out a comprehensive strategy and modalities to entrench lasting peace and check excesses of the miscreants. “The attack has nothing to do with the oil producing area as some people claim, but an aggression by some misguided persons.” He enjoined Aguleri people to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands as the government was already on top of the situation. He directed immediate transfer of the victims from the private hospital to Borromew Specialist Hospital in Onitsha for better treatment, assuring that the state government would settle the bills. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/obiano-wada-move-end-border-skirmishes/#sthash.eHVOHefc.dpuf |
