while I agree with your point, I'll suggest you check you facts. Sir Alex did not win the first trophy of his coaching career in 1992. prior to coming to Man U, he won 3 league title with Aberdeen in Scotland and he also won the UEFA winners cup in 1982-83 season by beating Read Madrid 2-1 after extra time, He also won the UEFA Super Cup in 1983.

is it not in the same Africa that we have have corrupt politicians that loot billions of dollars and stash them away in foreign banks at the expense of her starving citizens.

is it not immoral that while senators and house of respresentative members collect millions as monthly allowances the nigerian labour congress is fighting for just 18,000 naira monthly salary.


is it right that some state universities in the south east have been on strike for the past 6 months and nobody is talking about it.


take a look around all general hospitals in Lagos and you would be amazed at the level of suffering patients and their relatives have to go through just to get basic health care.


recently, I went to a local bar and I ordered a bottle of STAR, the guy served me a bottle of STAR in a HARP bottle with STAR labelled on the bottle and I did not realise this until I had consumed half the drink (thank God, I'm still alive).


the list goes on, massive umemployment, non existent Power supply, bad road, 419, fake drugs etc.

we have all this myriad of problems and people are complainig about an actress bearing flesh in a film, come to think of it, i will rather watch a film that shows naked female flesh than watch a film that shows ritual killing and sacrifices.


the bottom line is this, if you find bearing of female flesh in a film offensive, immoral and indecent, you have a choice. DON'T WATCH

naija films are crap anyway, therefore i don't watch.

But, hey, I do serious job with it and my apps look and function just like any other application written in any .NET platform.

That said, I am gradually migrating to C# and I'm loving it.

I'm in the market for a brand new laptop (notebook) system, preferably HP or Dell. I'm a programmer who travels a lot and spends a lot of time on the system. So forget about the fancy stuff, just brute force, processing power, long battery life, ruggedness and massive storage for my database applications. I don't care it its bulky.

My budget is 100k or lower.

I saw the HP Probook 4510s (not rugged enough). I like the elitebook series, but just can't get the prices in naira anywhere.

Included spec and price with be very helpful.

Can somebody please explain to me what happened to SETANTA africa channel ?

Counting from 2007 when I got my decoder, the following channels have mysteriously disappeared from HITV channels bouquet:
1. CNN
2. MTV BASE
3. FOX SPORT
4. KENNIS MUSIC
5. CNBC (last year)
6. SONY Entertainment (this year)
7. ANIMAX (this year)
8. SETANTA AFRICA (just last week)
and some more that I can't remember.

if things continue at this rate, we might have as little as 7 or 8 channels only to watch on HITV at 6000 naira per month ( excluding crap channels like HI-NOLLY,HI-MOVIES,AMULUDUN,GAMJI,ACB,TVC,HI-MIX,STV,WEDDING TV).

I fear for my beloved (DISCOVERY channel).

The main problem with HiTV that nobody seems to be addressing is that of lack of variety in their programming; for instance if we decide to analyse their channels like this:

Dove,God TV,HiLife: Gospel
Hi-sport,Hi-sport2,Hi-Soccer: Sports
CNN,BBC World,Skynew: News
Hi-Mix: I cannot pin it down to anything
MTV base,Nigezie: Musical

the other channels are loads of rubbish

what self respecting cable station will be without the following: Documentary channel, mini series, reality tv channel, a proper movie channel, entertainment channel etc

HiTV Repetitions; Drivin' Me Nuts!

Let me start this by saying "If programme repetitions kill, I should have been dead by now"

I've been of subscriber of hitv for the 3 months and all I get is programme repetitions on a daily basis. here is a breakdown.

1. HI-Nolly: has a collection of about 5 movies that they recycle everyday.
2. Hi-Sport: Apart from live premiership matches all they show is the Man United vs Urawa Red Match and world You-19 basketball championship.
3. Hi-Mix: 5 or 6 movies that they keep recycling (Men In Black, Baby Boy, Mary Reilly etc)
4. E!: recently they have started running repetitions (101 stars back when)
5. Hi-life: all I see daily is the late Pastor Bimbo show. (don't get it twisted, I like the lady)
7. hi-ovation, Hi-biz, LBC: not showing
8. FoxSport: No Longer Showing
9. Skynews, Eurosport News: Only On newpaper ads.

And there goes my hard earned 3000 Naira (Monthly).
