@xto (or should i say Christoper) well next time you are fooling you might wanna reconsider using condescending words like "Nigerians, always criticizing from the beef angle" as if you are some form of evolved or mutated alien life form. frankly i think those were quite generous and mild criticisms you received and its only because of the support your fellow animators on this forum want you to enjoy. nobody is here to discourage you or interested in seeing you fail especially as its apparent that you had something to do with the production. but if you really wanna survive in just about any field of endeavor one thing you have to learn is to take criticism well. no need to get emotional about it. spend 50 years with all the best software's in the world and if you don't use it right you wont get it right. the artist will always be the biggest tool. it doesn't matter what you are using but there are just basics of animation that have to be applied to make it work that seem to be missing here. as mentioned by others kudos for at least putting something out there but the animation is not pleasing to be frank. and an average video game is even too good for this animation by my assessment. certainly not up to the ones Ive been playing lately anyway. the parts where motion capture files or other animation from libraries were used were kinda ok but the parts where you had to use key-frame animation yourselves mostly were no good. eg the eagle flying which obviously you had to do manually was bad with very linear and robotic looking animation. there seem to be no regard for the use of curves in the animation interpolation. i would commend you for putting the models and textures as well as scenes together , perhaps even for rigging. but as for the animation and even lighting. it needs to be improved. ill still say congrats for making history on Nigerian TV anyway. i hope you make enough cash from this one so you can get it right or better next time.

max might be a screwdriver and c4d a power drill but truth be told from what we see on this forum. c4d users on this thread have no case compared to what the max users have put forward. obviously a skilled person can use a screw driver even far better than another can with a power drill. i mean look at this thread or any c4d thread on the forum. all i see is people arranging premade stuff and hitting render. i don't even see anybody try to model anything. and many of the guys here seem simply bitter that they tried to tame max and woefully failed and are all too pleased that they have accomplished something on c4d. the fact that you failed doesn't mean its wack as there are still people doing far greater things than some lousy fruits and juxtaposing premade furniture and text. the software is just a tool not a member of your tribe. final output will always depend on the user. so stop all this rooting for nonsense.

I agree,a portfolio is important so that prospective learners can be able to see your work and determine whether if they take lessons from u and your crew,their work will be as good as yours when they are through with the program.If u have a portfolio,that is.

oh by the way just because motion builder is used in avatar doesn't mean you will get the same result from it. they simply used it to aid and clean up their motion capture workflow. you dont even use mo-cap and i don't see how you can be a good animator if you dont master the regular key-framing animation and use of curves in maya which is your choice app. but go ahead and try it. i just dont think it will help you the way you think it will.at least you are not buying a genuine package anyway so the only thing u willl be wasting is your time.

The lightning was what I was going for.It might appear dark on some monitors due to screen settings.

in other words there is nothing wrong with your work and all our monitors suck! dude the work is ok (at best) but not amazing. the lighting looks very harsh and cg. learn to take advice and improve on ur work. lets not keep celebrating mediocrity.

cat allows you to animate quickly because of its animation layering system which isn't present or very clunky in max.

max had animaton layering since max 9 sp2. its even maya that just included it in 2010. you could even increase the weight of the animation you layered to a level that even tears your character apart or even go negative to do the reverse effect of your animation i.e u could turn a slight hop into a slight squat, do other layers and bake the final animation when u are satisfied with the whole thing.u could also build a scalable facial rig that you could resize and fit without messing up the space matrix. i find those even more customisable to the character and have option of addendums. thats not to say that cat is not useful for certain stuff tho.
