Demdem: Let's even assume its true, was it the reason why over 2million igbos lost their lives? Actually me think u are really daft.
After the betrayal what did he get from the northern government? He died of Rat poison, all work no presidential ticket pay, who is the daft now?

shymexx: Fam, how do I flip flop? - if not having a linear thought process means flip flopping, then I'm a natural/permanent flip flopper!! I don't work for any fake Jew and even if I did, what's the correlation between the holocaust and a war fought between two entities?? Didn't the leader of Biafra boast about having the best black army in the world?? Suffice to say - the two armies who engaged in the war were equally matched....

A more appropriate comparison would the blitzkrieg of the UK and France by the Nazis - however, do you still see them whine and cry about what happened back then?? - Hell no!!

I don't say negative things about Nigeria, I keep it real without allowing faux sense of nationalism blind the reality... Nigeria is messed up, no amount of sugarcoating can cover up the decay in that country... Call it badmouthing all you want but that won't change that fact that most of the countries in Africa have left Nigeria behind!!

And I live in a country my ancestors didn't build, or indirectly contributed to through colonialism - however, do you see me tell them how to run the countryhuh Do you see me cry about colonialism and how the British army destroyed my ancestral homeland in Nigeria?? There are certain policies being implemented in London right now, and they're indirectly trying to force black people out of the city - however, do you see me moan about it?? So, what the heck are you on about??

Lastly, Lagos is a snarl-up shytehole and something has to be done about the place to bring sanity to the place.... And if banning motorcycles will reduce the population and bring sanity to the place, so be it... Change is always difficult at first but beneficial on the long run...

PS: The yanks didn't win the war in Europe - the Brits fought hard, however, the Russians won the war for Europe...
I promised not to argue with some one that is misinformed . You have been called out several times on nairaland on your fake inputs. I see how you are trying to categorize genocide and death of innocent people like your fellow awoist? You call Lagos a shyte-hole yet your embassy in Lagos generate revenue from issuing more than 200,000 visa yearly to Nigerians going out there to buy goods Brits can't afford at the moment and also use the visa fee money to house and feed Brits that are on welfare and unemployed? Who won't brag about his military mite when his army could with stand Nigeria's army, British Air Force, Russian bombers for three good years with locally made surface to air missile his people made? I know where Nigerians that always talk about dope dealers in their hood live in the UK, I would rather live in Lagos that those slum in east London

Remarks like the one above are very indicative of why we are we are!
For the unwise, unlearned and unschooled; the evils and problems in today's Nigeria spring from the wrongs that occurred in this country between 1966 and 1970. Those who killed the Igbos have turned their guns and 'entitlement' mentality on us.
Do not deceive yourselves, the Igbos were, and are, not their only enemies and victims. Like it or not, we all are their victims, in one way or the other!

To to Yoruba irredentists amongst us, the biggest proof that we are all victims is the fact that a smart, organised and articulate visionary like Awolowo never made it to the presidency. Nigieria, and in deed all Nigerians are poorer because Awo never made it to the presidency!

Pls, leave Achebe alone! He is not the one who ruined Nigeria! Those who ruined Nigeria are the vey people who committed genocide against the Igbos!

Lastly, this country will never improve, as long as we are afraid to say the truth without recourse to tribe, religion and/or state!

By the way, I am not even an Igbo man! I am just a Nigerian who once believed, very passionately, in the enterprise called Nigeria.
Thanks for your sincerity . The so called Awo they are defending never denied the role he played. This is the same Awo that caused the crisis between multiple ethnic group in warri . Obasanjo pulled down everything that has something to do with Awo yet his people are playing dumb about it.

shymexx: You don't need to live in a place to that there's something wrong with the ethnic relations over there... You lot have been talking about the civil war for like almost forever, and everyone seems to believe the side of the story they want to believe - so, why can't you lot throw the redundant topic in the bin and move onhuh

What the country needs is restructuring, better ethnic relations, and mutual respect among the ethnic nationalities... You lot probably fake it in Nigeria, however, out here - I know most parents from the two ethnic groups have some reservations about the opposite/opposing group, though most are subtle about it... It's like the Ghana vs. Naija thing...

Keep barking at the wrong tree and crying about a freaking civil war that happened years ago, where all the parties involved were guilty....
I hope you also tell your Jewish employer in the UK to stop talking about the holocaust . I bet if not for the Yankees you lot would have been speaking German in the UK. Dude you flip flop every day on nairaland, your problem is you don't remember your previous threads. Is this not same guy that likes saying negative things about Nigeria and Nigerians while he is a resident of a country his dad never built? I can smell hypocrite from afar . I don't hold no anymocity against Yorubas, I Fhuck with the realist amongst the lot . Are you not the one that was cheering on the Okada thread when your kinsmen were ranting on how they will kick non Yorubas out of Lagos they never built? Dude study your history or take a sleeping pill

dayokanu: List the people killed in the war and who killed them and show us how many were killed by Ademoyega

And wetin concern Memorial day or Veterans day inside Biafra matters?

So who cares about June 12 and how many June 12 threads have you seen on NL compared to Biafra civil
war, Igbo daily moaning
Why are you not been logical? Where you meant to say what led to the war? Yoruba dey always remind us of june12 every year and you wan deny? Igbos have every right to talk about their struggles during the Biafran war and now they held Nigerian rag tag military, Yorubas, Hausas, British for three years before Gowon declared no vector no Vanquish. I bet you have not been to Nigeria since you traveled with F1 visa? Guy the war is over, we are back on top of things as it used to be I
wonder why you think igbos are whining like Yorubas that felt they are currently been sidelined in the present Nigeria political chess? Since the end of Biafran war how many Igbo leaders have died in gun shots if compared to that of Yoruba leaders killed daily via political assassination ? I am quoting Nzeogwu," (New Nigerian – 18th January 1966). Nzeogwu pointed out that the northern soldiers accompanying him “had the chance to drop out. More than that, they had bullets. They had been issued with bullets but I was unarmed. If they disagreed they could have shot me….most of the Other Ranks were Northerners but they followed.” Among the prominent northern soldiers that helped Nzeogwu to overthrow the Northern Region’s government was John Atom Kpera. Kpera later became the military governor of Benue State. Many of the soldiers that accompanied Major Ifeajuna when he abducted the Prime Minister: Tafewa Balewa, were also northerners".

shymexx: Slavery is a different story entirely, however, you don't see black people asking for reparations(despite building most of the fortune 500 companies, multinationals, banks etc.. with their blood, sweat, and tears)...

How about focusing on ethnic relations in Nigeria and educating Nigerians on mutual respect for the different ethnic groups in the country?? And respecting their way of life?? You lot need to start from there and stop wasting your energy on a divisive story where everyone involved is culpable...
Dude you need to spend time in Nigeria before commenting on matters that involves Nigeria.

Demdem: And if not for some rogues that decided to go to war knowing fully well that they can suceed, will millions die in vain?
If not for a traitor that spoke with two sides of his mouth after he was released from Calabars jail , would the northerner deny a genuine candidate his right to become a president or systematically rogue a general in coup? Why do we have groups like OPC or ask Okada riders to leave Lagos if truly we are one? Dude you ain't smart

Her achievement should be celebrated by her family and not reduced to her tribe. She is been appointed to be a county judge which is no big deal. Her jurisdiction does not surpass Sacramento area . I read this same post on a different media and it stated something differently. In the US her position or appintment is not new to Nigerians. visit Houston to find out how many Nigerian judges are out there. We are quick to associate ourselves with some one that we never helped trained in school.

Tusky44: The Niger Delta people always quick to beat their chest and aver that the Igbos want to claim their oil. Let me educate you once and for a very long time. Your so-called oil is almost halved cos the Fulani had to repay Britain and America for helping them during the civil war. Shell and their likes have damaged your region and they make all the money in profits while your sleazy Nigerian politicians ask for crumbs to remain silent.

The remaining 50% of your oil revenue is shared between the other Nigerian states which leaves you in abject poverty and misery. When we talk of Igbo land, we don't aim for your oil. We are actually referring to the talented human resource in the Southeast. We are talking of people who are capable of engaging in international trade and prospering. Honestly, your oil isn't as important to us as your Onne seaport. We can allow you to have your Ijaw nation or South-south region but sign an agreement that we can import and export via Onne, Calabar, Akwaibom and Delta. You can tap into our vast human resource and learn trades from us. You can partner with us to forge the new world order in West Africa.

The future is not oil. It is natural gas, renewables, recycling, education, and military might. Stop talking about oil please. USA will become self-sufficient with locally produced oil. China even has more shale gas reserves than the whole of North America and as i type, there is a major campaign to start exploring shale in China. For the last time, it isn't your oil in riverine area that can sustain you, your land and water has been destroyed and we can help you clean it up. If you disagree, wait for Akinyomi, Ogunjobi, Yerima, Abdulahi, and co to assist you.
Such thread does not come from people of Niger delta, look carefully.... Ofenmanu people thrive in conflict and they are the ones posing as Niger deltans on here...

Chimpanzee, I thought you were preaching been civil few seconds ago? Hypocrisy .

The house owner does not have to fight the tenant over his property, he would just request him to leave, so that notion of fighting for Lagos is neither here nor there. I wouldn't expect you to be fighting to get rid of fulanis over your erosion ravaged land because I know, that you know that it belongs to you, warts and all. Lagos have now recognised you as the leeches that you are and as you can see, there are calls from different quaters now for the introduction of tougher laws to put injuctions on your malpractices. As an easterner, you probably are not conversant with the use of soft power to get what you want; you are used to opening your mouth brashly and being paid with your heads served to you on platters as the northerners keep showing you. Westerners are not so callous but we would introduce policies that would make you make you know who the real Lagosians are. Your continuous daily trip to the west is alarming and now very glaring and if you think this encroachment will go unfettered, then think again. Remember as I told you earlier, all it requires are policies. Awolowo thought you once before - we can teach you again.

My take on crime is the same whether Boko Haram in the North or kidnapping in other places . Violent crime is abhorrent. I believe that is illegal everywhere so I fail to see any sense in that distraction. If people break the law the police should do their job.Simple

people were dying on okada daily. The government published the figures; deaths, injuries and maimings but when we hear facts that are inconvenient we bury our heads in the sand, ostrich style. More people were killed by okada than by ALL crime in Lagos. and this is just accidents not to mention Okada related crime deaths
Please can you provide me with facts ? Just for knowledge purpose incase I find myself in defense of banning Okada in major cities.

Lagos has a duty to provide alternatives for its indigenes and those who have paid tax for a substantial period of time NOT everyone. Naturally it cannot provide even for all those it has a duty for because of limited resources. But the fact is the business was unlawful even before the explicit ban and it is dangerous. Like I said before Slave traders asked for alternatives before a ban. Change is painful and there is a time for talking and a time for action which is now!
I asked a question not imposing an opinion on you. Anyways , it will be nice if we all debate without insulting each other since in reality we all mingle with each other without been ethnocentric......

They are all very welcome wherever they come from. That is not the issue here. The issue is they respect our ways just like in Kano and other Sharia states. We are saying Okada is not a culture we want to encourage. That is not so hard to grasp is it. Lagos is Yorubaland and it is NOT for visitors to CHANGE the culture There is no democracy in that, that is an absolute unnegotiable baseline. Once we say we don't Okada just take it like that. The same way Zamfara people say they want Sharia. No debate, no discussion no argument. Just comply!
When was the last time Okada riders went on killing rampage in Lagos? Area boys clashed recently in Mushin, what's your take on that? Which is more of a threat to people in Lagos , Okada riders or area boys?
