PoliticsRe: Should I Return To Nigeria? by RealMccoy2(m): 5:34pm On Apr 05, 2013
Nigerians in Diaspora sends 20 billion dollars plus yearly to Nigeria, meanwhile Nigerian politicians elected to serve, export 30 billion dollars plus more out of Nigeria yearly and a scumbag is telling us how great Nigeria is becoming. South African firms generate and repatrait their profit out of Nigeria, now tell us who have the interest of Nigeria at heart? Diasporans, Politicians or Foreign firms like MTN and Dstv?

noirfavour: The choice is your to make in the end but think about this:

1. Why did you leave Nigeria in the first place if it was home for you? People who sees Nigeria as home only visit abroad for one month maximum not stay there for 13 years.

2. You are in south africa and can always come back to visit if you misses it that much....

3. In those years there I'm sure you must have built for yourself a good life and have good family/friends there although nowhere is perfect.

4. The problems of Nigeria still remain the same; only depreciation are more poverty you will see.
*No light (I live in the center of Abuja and its still that bad), No security,

*Expensive internet for very poor connection; the most common leisure you get living abroad.
* Jobs are hard and for business connection is who knows who otherwise you will burn all your saving without being sure of returns (profit) personal experience. etc.

5.I will personal advice you not to come back because I made the mistake of returning to Nigeria 2 years believing it was home but I was so wrong; and right now I can't wait for the day I will pack my bags and leave, never return again.

6. But to make your decision easier; leave your family there for now, come visit and stay for 3-6 month and your decision process will be completed. You will either love it and enjoy it or you will see all the reasons why you left in the first place But don't be like me who made the decision based on the Idea of Nigeria I had in my head and all the advises I got from people.

Note: Home is where you want it to be not a place where you are born. Remember how hard it was to start a new life abroad if you come back that is how it feels. just like a foreign country with worst conditions.
You have said it all. Some pathological liars that only got the taste of abroad by running inside foreign flights to seek cover during the robbery at Murtallah International only to get kicked out from the Plane after the tension is over, will come here to give you dumb advise. Nigeria is a country I visit every year, lived there for years and understand the mentality of people out there. Flash most of those unemployed graduate Cyprus visa or Egyptian visa they will speak a differ language. Nigerians are hypocrites, never you take their words seriously. Thanks for stating the obvious cos most of my friends that left US that were promised all sort of opportunity are back in US searching for employment with their degrees.

Please ignore most comment on here, Nigerians are pathological liars. I wouldn't advise you move to Nigeria with yout family any time soon. It's a jungle and never you trust those that promise you heaven on earth prior to moving back. My only advise is for you to spend a year out there alone before making a decision and this should be done after 2015.

Rossikk: I've little time to debate a spiteful peabrain like you that's allergic to education. You are the wicked person. Giving outdated advice on a place that you do not live. That makes you a pretender and a liar. As well as a slanderer. Name the number of Nigerians that have been followed from the airport and robbed like you claimed? You damn liar. You do not live in Nigeria so SHUT THE FCU.K UP. I do. I can talk about the present state of security not just in Lagos, but throughout the country where I travel almost on a weekly basis. You are just a diasporan GOAT with no inclination to learn. Stuck in 1995. Please remain in New York quaffing hamburgers, while we go about building our country. Your mates are in Nigeria going great things, while your own is to come online to vomit rubbish advice dated to 20 years ago. You think because you're abroad we should take your garbage. FYI ordinary small business owners travel abroad for weekend shopping these days and return to their offices sharp sharp Monday morning with no stress, while a DINOSAUR like you still thinks being abroad is next to 'heaven', with robbers waiting for you at the airport to follow you and steal your 'dollars'. When those of us that are here tell you that stuff is played out, you call us ''wicked'' instead of updating yor knowledge. Dumbito.
I have not had the time to read the rest of your post but I doubted you ever lived in the US. This is NL where identity is unknown, I wouldn't be surprise you are putting up a fake front. There are no price tag for lying on NL, I lived in nigeria and visit Nigerian often and please stop making fake comparison when it comes to securing life and property you should be comparing Nigeria vs Ghana and not United States.

Boko Haram: Confession of Yoruba Leader : “We planned to invade Lagos”

SUNDAY, 13 MAY 2012 18:11 USMAN ABUBAKAR HITS: 7994Share0 CommentsPREV1 of 5NEXT…To bomb churches and other strategic places THANKS to the timely intervention of the Joint Task Force (JTF), the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic sect would have unleashed terror of unimaginable proportion on Yorubaland particularly Lagos State had their leader in South-West, Muhammed Sulaiman not been arrest last week.National Daily competent source disclosed that the Boko Haram South-West leader who was arrested at Farawa Babbam Layi, Maiduguri Road, Kano and now facing interrogation at the headquarters of State Security Service (SSS), Abuja has allegedly confessed that he is the coordinator of a planned attack on strategic places in Lagos and other parts of South-West Nigeria. He allegedly listed a five star hotel, Tafawa Balewa Square, a popular church and market on Lagos Island and a new generation mega-bank as targets of their planned onslaught. The Ogbomosho, Oyo State born terrorist was quoted as saying that: “We decided to move our attack temporarily from the North to the South starting from Lagos. We realized that Lagos is Nigeria's most important commercial city; events that happen in Lagos have more impact than anywhere in the country. If we hit Lagos, Nigeria will shake; imagine if we had carried out our plan to bomb churches in Lagos,” an informed security source quoted Sulaiman last weekend, adding: “We had identified some important locations where we will hit in other to gain maximum attention. We listed Tafawa Balewa Square, a busy market in the Island, popular churches, hotel and a new generation bank. We wanted to start bombing Lagos.”National Daily gathered that after the successful attack in South-West locations, the group will now move to the South-East launching their attack in Enugu before targeting other cities in the South-East zone.Boko Haram redefinedSulaiman gave further details of the next stage of their terrorism plans. Michaeljones36: The US invaded Iraq because GW Bush had some perverse daddy issues or something. Bush's father had problems with Saddam and ended up as a one term Presido.
I don't think many people still think the Iraq war was about oil. The US never received any oil anyway. The US isn't even taking full advantage of the TRILLION dollars in mineral deposits in Afghanistan. It was about pure, and unadulterated, stupidity. Most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi.

The US demanded that Saudi Arabia pay for oil in dollars because the OPEC nations (which are a political group whose members are all major oil producers) decided to artificially raise prices in the 1970's. This caused a MAJOR panic in the world markets and was an unmitigated disaster for all of the oil importing nations of the world. All of them. Not just the US.

Economists came to the conclusion, that it was a major problem for oil producing nations to receive foreign currency (in the form of money paid for oil) and for them not to recycle that currency back into the global markets. The solution was for oil producing nations to agree to purchase dollars, so that currency would continue to circulate in the world markets, and also so that there would be stability in the exchange rates. For example, if Saudi Arabia traded with each country in it's own currency, then Finland would always be worried about the exchange rate of it's currency relative to Saudi Arabia. Using the stable US dollar makes oil importing nations happier.

The Euro, and British Pound, are stable currencies, and some oil producing nations prefer to use their currencies as a benchmark. Iran and Venezuela both quote their oil prices in Euros. It's not a big deal.

The thing you have to remember about currency, is that it is always changing. If I have $100 dollars of purchasing power, and I transfer my money to Russian Rubles, I run the risk of my money either losing absolute value (through the devaluation of the ruble on the world markets), or I run the risk of my money gaining absolute value (through the increasing valuation of the Russian ruble). This risk is dangerous because all money has to be denominated in some currency. The only way to try to limit this risk, is for everyone to use a common currency that is VERY STABLE. The US dollar fits the bill (no pun intended).

The end result of petro dollars is that oil prices have been relatively sane since the 1970's. However, zero oil importing countries think having to import something as fundamentally important as oil is a good thing. They all (including China - which is investing heavily in renewables) want to be able to produce their own energy, just like they produce their own food.

Some oil producing nations (like those in Northern Europe) also heavily invest in renewables, for the opposite reason. They want to limit their domestic use of oil, so that they can sell more of it on the world markets.

The global economic markets are controlled by private corporations, not governments. Conspiracies that large wouldn't last.
At the end of the day solar, wind, etc are horribly inefficient when compared to oil. It is going to take decades for those technologies to catch up.

It's also important to remember that oil is used for a lot more than powering cars. It is used for jet fuel, electricity, plastic, fertilizer, and I could go on forever. A million uses have been found for hydrocarbons. This creates the demand, not politics.

I hope this answered your questions once and for all.
You are helping that diaper wearing lad to get educated. I wouldn't be surprise he decides to write his primary school leaving certificate exams next week after reading all your post. That kid is about to As social studies.....lol

Michaeljones36: I am going to make the assumption that you are pretty young.

Once you get older, you realize that no one is as powerful as all that. Conspiracy theories are ridiculous. Everyone is human.

EVERYONE wants to invest in renewable energy. It is the only way forward for mankind, and every rational person understands this. If there are any nations that would be against renewable energy, they would be the major oil producing nations like Russia, Venezuela, Iran, Nigeria, etc.

Kinda makes your whole conspiracy theory ridiculous. There is no reason for the US to want to keep importing energy when it can make it's own through renewables.

cap28: I think you'll find that the US IMPOSES treasury bills on any country who wishes to purchase crude oil.

Almost all crude oil transactons are conducted in the dollar - any nation that tries to move out of this arrangement is attacked

China pegged their currency to the dollar in order to keep the value of the yuan low in order to make their exports cheaper and more affordable to other importing countries- however it is tied into buying US treasury bills as a consequence of this arrangement.

You have completely missed the point i was making - all of the above countries do not want to buy or sell oil using the US dollar because it is depreciating in value due to inflation, if any of those countries pull out of the dollar the dollar will collapse within days.

The United States know this and thats why all if not most of those countries are under some form of attack. If the US is not bothered about Russia pulling out of the dollar why does it have military bases encircling russia, the same also applies to Iran, why are there over 400 US military bases surrounding Iran?

Also if the US were not bothered about any country pulling out of the petro dollar system why did it attack iraq when Saddam started selling his oil in euros?
Have your heard of renewable energy? You better embrace the trend now cos in the near future, a single barrel may worth 25 dollars or less. Visit 2013 car show
In Europe or North America to see how companies are competing in different model of fuel efficiency vehicles.

Michaeljones36: China pegged their currency to the dollar, so I have no idea what you are talking about.
No one is forcing them to buy US treasury bills either.

I don't know what the rest of those countries want to do. They all earn 'petro dollars' as foreign exchange, because they want to. No one is stopping them from trading in Euros. (look up petroeuros and the use of British Pounds as petrocurrency in the North Sea). The US dollar is a stable currency. No one wants to risk massive exchange rate fluctuations.

Lastly, Russia is the world's largest oil producer. If they wanted to trade in other currency, nobody could stop them.

In other word's...your theory is a failure. grin

Foreign AffairsRe: China Mobilizes Military, On 'high Alert' Over N. Korea Threats by RealMccoy2(m): 8:05pm On Apr 03, 2013
Michaeljones36: This is all simple.

South Korea is a US ally. US allies need to trust that the US will do everything possible to protect them in the event of outward aggression.
One of the main reasons the US is flexing, is to give a nod to ALL its allies that it will defend them against all aggressors, even aggressors backed by China.

This is an especially important message to send since China has been bullying it's neighbors recently over uninhabited islands. The Phillipines, Vietnam, Japan, India, etc have all been bearing the brunt of Chinese diplomatic aggression over the past two years. This has made many Asian countries worried about China's rise turn to the US for protection.

The US has responded brilliantly by doing more than China has ever done in the region. The US is flexing hard, flying nuclear capable bombers over China's ally, sending all kinds of warships to the region, and not giving a f*** what anyone says about it. angry angry angry <----That's the flexing face!

China (after looking like a bully for so long) is starting to look weak and all talk. They haven't even defended their ally yet. Other countries in the region are right now asking "Where are China's planes, ships, etc?" "Where are China's UN resolutions?".

China has no choice than to try to save face (a very important asian concept) by showing some military strength.

Either way, with this brilliant play by the Americans, China's rising diplomatic strength in the region has been set back to ZERO. They will look ridiculous if they keep threatening all kinds of actions against US allies in the region after this incident.

Case in point. Watch how little a f*** Japan is going to give about the Senkaku Islands after this whole incident blows over.

That's all!
I didn't want to say this because most contributors here are swimming in Ignorant pool. My college school fees was paid for using GI bill and I spent 4 years doing what some chicken won't do for their country. China's economy is not as strong as people thinks. An educated mind will know that when it comes to GDP per capital they are no where close to US. Chinese man is a copy cat, most machinery found in factories in china used to produce high quality products are US imports. They need to combat producing fake products before engaging the almighty US on war. US is the only country that could produce a bomb that is friendly to human and dangerous to military equipment. The only country that has produced a bomb that causes artificial earthquake. Cos some people read scripted information on the net they have automatically become foreign affairs experts. Visit library of congress, pick up declassified information of 1900s and then you will understand the strength of United State. There is a reason why people are rushing to US and not countries like China and Russia that are not friendly to other race. Thanks for the post bruv.

That is just the amount each country has declared not to forget the ones they have in secret for the rainy day that are undeclared. War is not a matter of the number of troops anymore. One successful target is enuff to destabilise a nation. We all see the great havoc ordinary Al-Qaeda caused America using simple aeroplane terrorist attack strategy. Now imagine a successful ICBM attack on the pentagon and other secret key U.S military installations we know nothing of. It's not the amount of stockpiles owned by each country but the effectiveness of the technology that will enable the safe delivery of the nuclear warhead to its target. Don't be to forget is it iran now that redirected a U.S drone to its soil using hacking technology. Also remember that NK is not a open society like the U.S. Communist state. Secretive. This is what scares the U.S. Only God knows what kind of nuclear technology they have. We Africans have no business in their show of might. Na to sit down and watch because e no concern us.[/quote]GEJ should higher you to combat and fish out Boko Haram sponsors......An average Naija man is a conspiracy theorist...

hotwax: You only deserve a simple answer.

1. South Korea did not test a nuclear bomb.
2. South Korea did not test a long range rocket.
3. South Korea did not threatening anybody.

South Korea just wanna do business and compete amoung the world industrialized world.
Samsung, Kia motors are products of South Korea. What has north offered? War, nuclear bomb et.c. The difference is clear.
I would not advise you argue with NL foreign policy experts, they get most of their information on watered down news from Aljazeera and African version of yahoo news.

Capnd143: i wonder why you guys arent seeing the wider picture her! UNITED STATE IS THE AGGRESOR HERE! When South korea were testing it own weapons, the Us didnt complain, when NK did theirs the US USE UN to impose inhuman sanctions on NK!
-How would you feel as the president if south africa suddenly left their country and started military drills in the gulf or guinea, bakassi peninsula or other nigeria controled zone? Would you sit tight and enjoy with your wife while south africa voilates your territorial sovereignty just because their economy is a bit stronger than ours?
Thats just a tip of the iceberg of the scenario here, us wants to play big brother asking other nations to give up nuclear warheads, while it has stockpiles of them!

DOWN WITH THE US. I hate us foreign policies with passiom.
Down with the US on this thread and other thread you are begging them to use drone to kill Boko Haram in Northern Nigeria? Nigerians and double speak is nothing new. I doubt you have worked with the Chinese or been to their country? China has no middle class,I hope you understand how country's GDP are measured? Most goods in China are for Import which is causing Inflation. An average China man is greedy and selfish,if you think China will protect NK you most be high of Generator smoke fume.

People think Population is used to fight war....lol
China shot down a Sattelite in space for the first time in 2010, while United State did same in 1980. China needs to perfect their production of quality product before engaging in combat. We blew both Russian and Chinese Infrastructures in Iraq during the Operation take Saddam out they did nothing, we repeated same thing in Libya they did nothing. B52 bomber is not your average Joe, it cost over a billion dollars to keep one flying.

I doubt most people arguing here could be able to throw a dummy grenade when asked to do so. Some says jews control US election, Nairaland foreign policy experts throwing out tantrum from NEPA blackout.......lol
Their closest encounter with US is applying for an F1 visa at US consulate in Victoria Island if at all.
