Always dey gbadun your historical reports on some stocks. That is how to create wealth through continuous investment emmanuelewumi: The most important thing is to know what you have bought and why you have bought, don't let the noise in the market place confuse you.
It is very possible that you have bought right and yet the share price can still depreciate, it is almost impossible to time the market. Trying to time the market, might make you miss opportunities in the market.
APR rights sold for N1.20k. N12 million will buy 10 million units, which earned a dividend of N3.6 million in 2018, N4.5 million in 2019 and N6.3 million in 2020. Generating a total dividend of N14.4 million after deduction of withholding tax in the last 3 years and capital appreciation of N38 million.
N1.20k was a good price for the right offer, as in it was appropriately priced. But not quite long after the right offer, the price still went down to close to 90k. Those who listened to the noise in the market place, sold and are no longer partakers of the wealth created by the company in the last 6 years.
Business and investing can be likened to a marathon race and not a Sprint. What investors need is patience, financial muscles and staying power. Cash flow will give the financial muscles, endurance and staying power 1 Like 1 Share |

Yes oooooo. Opportunity to pick more good stocks at a bargain bigjay01:
In my lingo, JIJO does not mean day trading!
In the past, whatever i bought I had the intention of holding for ever. Nowadays, only few stock qualify for this treatment.
Also, in the past I over-diversified. Lately, I have begun to concentrate my portfolio with the view to holding the stock of a max of 15 companies.
Hence, if the events of this week continue, it will present an opportunity to target equities that satisfies this new paradigm. 1 Like |

Amen to your prayers Pastor. People that do TBs at 17% interest per annum and can afford to leave their cash for over a year getting afraid in a market where they stand the chance of getting returns close to 100%. Buy stocks that have been consistent in dividend payments. In the long run, it will not be a case of my capital has gone audio. veecovee:

if they have not sold and it is not a borrowed fund. Then they will be alright. No need to panic. Staying with 50m or 100m in the market for 3 years will turn great at some point. RabbiDoracle:
If you bought UBA at 9.25 one month ago and it closed today at 6.85, this is 26% loss.
If you invested N100m,you have 74m left.
Same with those who bought Access at 12 and now it 9. i.e. 25% loss.
So how can your body not heat up? ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
And with such a loss and it continues to fall, won't you faint? What if it nears 50% loss. Meaning N50m gone!
Entry is key. Even Ben Graham advised it.

The problem is not even with the FPIs but that the local investors are not even encouraged to invest in the NSE. The financial illiteracy in the Nation is too high. The number of shareholders in Zenith Bank is not even up to 700,000 out of an adult population of not less than 60m. Mcy56:
Loco you're right.....but where will everyone get 5M to trade with, with the economic condition of the country and unfavorable policies? It's affecting even the companies, not to talk of individuals. Anyone that will advice someone to borrow bank loan to trade is a wicked somebody with the kind of trend ongoing now in the market. ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png) That's the way I see it sha. People with huge capital will continue to control the market, that's the irony of it, and this are mostly the FPIs. 1 Like |

It is also good for JIJO ooooo. At least when you are caught inside, you will just wait for the dividend. But there are some units you will buy and still wait. Imagine buying 50m units at 90kobo and you are not selling at N3.50. At least comot some Naira to enjoy your life. OakPearl:

12.5% dividend yield is not bad ooooo. next year if the performance is repeated then the cost would have dropped to 17.5 and before 5 years your Zenith will cost you less than 7 naira Lion123:

The yield is still above 12%, how many companies will give this? Can the returns be replicated in the next year? I believe it is yes? Banks are still allowed to play OMO, UBA will always find a way to help UCAP, Africa Prudential play this market going forward. onegentleguy:
This is an incorrect assumption. ...and some persons may have taken to it.
Let me let in on a secret; when u see a company declare a high double digit yield(div cashflow in view) that beats or even matches inflation(especially in an era of low single digit FI rate) with a qualification date that's close(matter of days or close weeks), u do not sell off in a hurry. ...or try to play out what u said. ...u only do that when its in months.
Inference: There's still a near 1 probability that UCAP will gain today and move to the N4+ level by next week. But for the company's not-so-good YE report, the stock would've run close to or above N5, given the 50k pay out. ...VITAFOAM did it because of that.
Pls be guided accordingly.
NOTE: I do not own a single unit of UCAP at the moment. ...just given an honest piece of advice to those in it. But then again, due diligence still applies as always pls. |

Just 5 years ago. UCAP sef dropped below N1 that year. Past dividend record of ucap: 2014: -25k 2015: -20k 2016: -35k 2017: -50k 2018:. -35k 2019: -30k 2020: -50k emmanuelewumi:

I cannot stop to envy those that bought Zenith at N9 and Gtbank at N12 some years back. It will be hard for those guys to sell no matter what as long as the dividend keeps coming in and the share price is above their cost. emmanuelewumi:
Once I can get a dividend yield of 15% and possibility of the dividends to be increased is their, I am good to go no matter how low the stock price falls.
An investment in Zenith bank shares which gave a dividend of N1 million in 2009, that same investment grew the dividend to N4 million in 2019. This beats inflation and currency devaluation 1 Like |

That is an investment. emmanuelewumi: The right offer of United Capital sold for 90k in 2014.
N9 million will buy 10,000,000 units. The investment got a dividend of N3.15 million in 2018, N2.7 million in 2019 and will get N4.5 million in 2020. Giving a total dividend after withholding tax of N10.35 million in the last three years, dividends received since 2014 will be close to N20 million. And a capital appreciation of N26 million. |

Same ratio not same value.
10% of 10k is 1k.Can you use 1k to buy food stuff?
10% of 5m is 500k.I can manage this portion for one month.
Since I came to understand this 10%,I have not misused it even when I get trapped ,I look for fund to trade same stock at another lower support.
Try to get my point. 1 Like |
