The Archbishop of Kampala, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has suggested that the government of Uganda deduct tithe from workers' salaries. Speaking during a mass, the Catholic Archbishop said many Christians don’t tithe and this affects church projects, report. “Whenever we ask for tithe, everyone gives only what they have at that time. But the Bible says a tenth of whatever you earn belongs to the church,” said Archbishop Lwanga. “Give me your support as I front this proposal because it is good for us. Aren’t you tired of putting money in the baskets all the time?” Archbishop Lwanga said he wanted Uganda to go the German route, where Germans, who are registered as Catholics, Protestants or Jews have a church tax (Kirchensteuer) of 8-9 per cent deducted from their annual income. “I was told Germans made agreements with their government to deduct monthly tithe from their salaries and forward it to the church and this money they use to build and renovate their churches,” he added. https://punchng.com/deduct-tithes-straight-from-workers-salaries-archbishop-begs-govt/ |

President Akufo Addo has ordered for the banning of Sports Betting activities in the country immediately, a satiric news editor Balfour Gyawu of News7pm has reported. According to the satiric news, the order was made by the president during an Independence after-party at Tamale the Northen Region of Ghana. According to Baffour’s report, the order came after three ministers who accompanied the President lost concentration as results of bet slips they lost when Young Boys led Luzern by four goals to nil in the 70th minute during their Switzerland Cup match. Our understanding is, this is a developing satiric story and that updates will be followed up shortly. https://www.naijweb.ng/6123-1akufo-addo-ban-sports-betting-activities/ |
I got to the school this morning and was about teaching after we had left the praying ground. My headmistress summon all 2016 NPOWER that the SUPEB officials want to see us in their zonal office in Ondo west. The three of us that are 2016 went to the office, immediately we got there, they handed us letters, when we opened it, we saw it was transfer letters. To my surprise we were all transfered to very far distance to where we reside. I asked what happened, they didn't said anything, we called the NPOWER MONITORING TEAM, they came quickly and were furious at the SUPEB decision, they said this program is a community program me, volunteers must not be posted to a very far place. I told them immediately that I will never report to the school I was posted to, because transport from my home to my new PPA is #800 to and fro. The monitoring team went in to discuss what happened with the SUPEB officials, they later came out and said it is our head teachers that reported us that we are giving them problems. What problem did I gave them? Last term, most of the primary six pupils, their parent cannot afford their state exam fees. I went to a rich man in the community and beg him to please assist, after too much pressure on him for weeks, he agreed and gave me #100, 000 to distribute among 10 pupils which is #10, 000 each. I took the money to the school and was about to distribute, but the teachers and head teacher felt it was wrong that I should give the money to school, that it is the school management that knows what to do with the money. I objected to it, they said I should go to the market and distribute then because they won't allow me to do it in the school, we fought on this money for over a month before I finally distributed it to the parents in the presence of the pupils and teachers Now they went to report me to SUPEB, who later transfer me to a very distance place. I have vowed, can't be wasting #800 on transport everyday, what is the essence of me working? NPOWER should come to our rescue in Ondo West local government in Ondo state. The permanent teachers see every NPOWER volunteers as an enemy. |
