Thanks Jayfierce.
I just want us to look at my question from the last paragraph angle; which I believe is responsible for denials from this part of the world.
Someone has good job, family but no landed property, let's assume. What can be claimed as home-tie, which is of economic value?
Someone has good job, landed property, the landed property makes a home-tie. If the visa is granted can't such a person sell the property while over there and have nothing to tie to?

My input: Putting fiance, instead of a friend, may complicate issues. I think it is better to put it as friend.

By the way, I do read that foreign missions/embassies share information with each other, e.g. Canada/USA. How true is this? Is it legal? I am just asking though.

For discussion/clarification sake, what serve(s) as home tie?

Good morning friends and a pleasant week to all.

Are we, the followers, ready for a Nigeria we will be proud of? I have stopped blaming the leaders because we are not ready to take the future by our hands. The western countries don't have 2 heads.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by RedReact: 12:29pm On Oct 28, 2016
From my own perspective, the below in quotes is often used to determine fate of applicants from Nigeria;

"Even if the person’s ties to the home country seem to be strong, there may be other factors in the general economic or political environment which make the long-term prospects for the person or their family unstable. Consider these factors in the assessment."

This makes visa application somewhat complex for us.

@awelekiti, Don't you think it's better they request for the additional documents if they are not not satisfied with ones submitted? I somewhat read where some people were beckoned to submit additional docs, rather than applicants submitting it themselves based on their own discretion.

Oga Manlikegb, put your mind at rest; hopefully IRCC won't contact them. How person wan take do when dem talk say make we no pay any fee until dem give person visa? No be to do free booking remain?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by RedReact: 4:12pm On Oct 27, 2016
manlikegb:
Yes it is free booking as the agent told me that the reservation type is one to be paid for in person when checking in. But then, the hotel will still demand you put a credit card on file when making the reservation. I called the agent now and he told me to not worry or give them my number and when they call, I should explain to them that CBN policy won't allow such amount(460usd for 5 nights) to be charged directly to a Nigerian bank card as its above the CBN regulated monthly spend limit on the card. However, my concern is that incase we are unable to reach an agreement to make the reservation back active, won't that have any effect on my application? Thanks.
Probably you mail the hotel and explain the card limitation to them, and help in holding the reservation till the time you arrive at Canada. With that, if the embassy contacts the hotel, they will give positive response.

@Jayfierce,
It 's not to Canada though but to another country. The person that applied is a known person, who has never violated any visa rules. Has a very good travel history but was surprised application was denied based on "No travel history".

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by RedReact: 2:09pm On Oct 27, 2016
Bigfido, Jayfierce, I have a question;
Why would an embassy deny an applicant with good travel history on the basis of "No travel history"? I believe if an applicant would run away, he would have done that with the previous opportunities he had in his previous journeys. That statement sound somehow to me.

Wait o, na citizenship you wan apply for? Wetin concern DNA and house again? I believe if dem need additional document, dem for ask for its upload. You don't really need ISO certificate, except maybe for a business visa application, which I believe you would more knowledge on that.

You are welcome madam.
As per the letter, you just write a letter of application for visa (tourist visa, but seeking medical help in Canada). Mind you, before you write that letter, you must have gotten an hospital and an Oby/Gyn in place (reading through the thread, you should have an idea of how easy/uneasy that task is; probably those that had their LOs there can be of urgent assistance, provided they are around). After you have secured an hospital, you would also need an accommodation issue to be sorted out (I guess a motel/lodge should suffice for this); you can, as well, arrange for an hotel first and then go for a more comfortable accommodation when you get there. In your letter, you write the embassy, stating your request for tourist visa for the purpose of giving birth now. You need to put convincing reasons on why the VO need to grant you the visa and also why you want to choose Canada against Nigeria and USA (where you had your last baby);I believe you will need to answer more of "Why Canada against USA?" than "Why Canada and not Nigeria?" in your letter now and not let the VO see it as a medium to get citizenship for the baby (even if that is the main goal grin grin grin).
As per the letter from your hospital here in Nigeria, just an introduction and your ante-natal history/record are needed.
You will also need to show evidence of your non-indebtedness to any hospital in the USA in order to create a "Maybe she is owing the hospital in the US, hence her choice for Canada this time" impression in the eyes of the VO that will treat your case.

Mind you, I have not been to Canada, and all what I have written an my opinion.
TravelRe: Giving Birth In Canada by RedReact: 7:08am On Oct 24, 2016
Mel01, if you are due by December, you should go for paper application, perhaps it may be fast enough for processing. You don't need an invitation, a tourist visa will suffice. While filling your application, let it be known that you will be seeking medical services while in Canada and you back your choice up with letter and reasons why you decide to want your baby there, as against Nigeria and the USA, where you had your first. You can also seek a reference letter from your hospital/doctor in Nigeria.
I hope you have your US visa still, in case Canada delays or doesnt approve of it, you have another alternative to fall back on.

Are you doing visa renewal or you are a first-time applicant? If you still have enough time on your side, you can go for online application, but if not, kindly go for paper application, as online application is fond of taking long these days.

Hi everyone, thanks for the knowledge that is being shared to benefit all. I wish everyone the very best of outcome in their endeavours.

My Questions are:
1. I did a paper route application for about a week now, how do I know that CIC have received my application?
2. How can I know that my documents are complete and they don't require additional documents from me?
3. Then on the receipt I got from after doing biometrics, there's a 'Reference No' and there is a 'Tracking ID'. Which one will I use to track on VFS website.

Thanks in anticipation @jayfierce @bigfido @misterbd @awelekiti @shadeebee78 @zeus001 and everyone in general. No knowledge shared is too small.
1. After you submit your application, VFS sends you an sms and a mail that it has been sent to CIC
2. Your applications are accepted from you at VFS when they are satisfied that all documents (necessary ones) are inside. Probably what you may be referring to are extra documents to back up your case, which they may not know, as they are not the embassy
3. Tracking ID.
