Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has called on Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, 74, to reveal the condition of his health after spending nearly two months in Britain on medical leave. Soyinka, who spoke in an interview with AFP at Paris Book Fair weekend, also said indigenous people had a right to assert themselves as a distinct people, even within a political and geographical zone anywhere in the world. “He’s ill, there’s no question, and I wish for heaven’s sake that people in public positions would just be honest. “Illness is part of our existence. Buhari owes it to the nation and I don’t know why he and his advisors are being so coy about it,” Soyinka said. Soyinka, who also noted that US President, Donald Trump, exploited “latent xenophobia” to reach the White House, said a people had a right to agitate for self-autonomy within a geographical expression. He was obviously reacting to the agitation for declaration of independent state of Biafra in the South East of Nigeria. He said: “It’s not the real estate for me that defines a nation or a people, no, it’s a history, a culture. What is a crime within an artificial entity like Nigeria? You have states being created which are not viable.” Biafra unsuccessfully fought for independence in a brutal three-year civil war — during which Soyinka was imprisoned for nearly two years over allegations of espionage. Separatist sentiment has grown since the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested in October 2015, sparking bloody clashes with security forces. The military denied an allegation by Amnesty International in November that security agents killed some 150 Biafra protesters in the past year. Soyinka said: “I cannot accept the notion that people have a right to kill other people because they want to assert their identity… It it doesn’t cost anything to recognise it.” Ironically, IPOB threw its support behind Trump’s presidential campaign in the belief he would recognise their independence movement. Soon after Britons voted to leave the European Union in a referendum last July, the group pushed for its own version of “Brexit” from Nigeria that it dubbed “Biafrexit”. He said President Donald Trump, exploited “latent xenophobia” to reach the White House, decrying the erection of walls, especially in people’s minds, anywhere in the world. By Ola Ajayi SCORES of people who thronged the Oyo State police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan to catch a glimpse of four suspected ritualists could not hold back their tears as one of the suspects, Tunde Jimoh, gave a chilling description of how they tricked their victim, Akintoye Oyeyemi, into a deep forest and murdered him in cold blood. Looking deceitfully innocent, the suspect, Tunde Jimoh said, “I am a business man who deals in cashew nuts. My brother’s friend came to him and said he would pay the sum of N10million for a business transaction.” We felt guilty after killing him “We felt guilty when we discovered this. But, we had no option. I then told my friend to let us take his body parts to that Alfa as earlier discussed. But, when we got to Alfa he was angry with us saying he had told us he didn’t have interest in helping us again. But, when we begged him, he told us to throw the head away and use alcohol to preserve the wrists, heart, legs. That was when the police arrested us.” He further told newsmen how he got the gun with which he snuffed life out of their victim, saying; “We saw a Fulani herdsman herding his cattle. We were chatting with him and we negotiated to buy the gun he was carrying. He then agreed to sell it to us for N13,000 but removed the bullets in it. After then, he advised us to buy the bullets saying what is the use of a gun without bullets. I told him he should give us the bullets asking why we should buy gun and bullets separately. It was then he volunteered to give us the bullets.” Another suspect, Mr. Abubakar Agboola, a 65 year old man, who one of the suspects said directed him to Alfa for money rituals denied it saying he never gave such an advice to him to go and kill a human being to get riches. The third suspect, Olatunji Ahmed, the Alfa who doubles as the herbalist also gave account of how they came to him initially but refused to cooperate with them when they brought human body parts. The suspects, according to the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, lured their victim, Akintoye Stephen Oyeyemi aged 33, to a forest under the pretext of doing business where they gunned him down. The CP Odude said, “The duo of Jimoh and Gbenga Babalade lured their victim, robbed him of the sum of N100,000 and gruesomely murdered him in cold blood.” “Having killed the victim, the suspects removed his body parts including the heart, head and wrists for ritual purpose. When the wife did not see her husband, she became apprehensive and raised alarm. She then reported the case at Atiba Police Station. “A diligent investigation conducted by the special squad led to the arrest of one Abubakar Agboola in his criminal hideout at Ipe Village, Kwara State. His arrest further led to the arrest of three other suspects in their various criminal hideouts in Offa, Kwara State and Ile-Ife, Osun State.” Odude continued; “During interrogation, two of the suspects, Tunde Jimoh and Gbenga Babalade who actually murdered the victim disclosed that they killed him because they believed he had in his possession the sum of N10million for the business as he was overhead saying during his conversation with one Olayinka Babalade another business partner two days earlier. They also revealed that after killing him, they decided to remove the vital organs for money rituals. They poured alcohol on the severed parts of his body to preserve it.” The items found with them, according to the police, include one cut-to-size barrel gun, one long single barrel gun, two live cartridges, two expended live cartridges, an axe, three knives, deceased car key, hand bag, sandal and belt, one unregistered motorcycle, one empty bottle of Aromatic Schnapps- the content of which was used to preserve the severed body parts, N40,000 and criminal charms. Other items include severed heart of the deceased, two severed wrists and headless body of the victim. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/chilling-story-ritual-killing-ibadan/

Hello all. We have seen an upsurge in suicide cases and attempted suicide. People are jumping into rivers to drown themselves, others hang themselves while others drink poison substances like sniper. I want to tell you all the suicide is for cowards. Yes, you heard me right. It is a coward that decides to take his own life because he is not brave enough to confront difficult circumstances. Suicide is not the way out and only cowards take that route. If you are thinking of committing suicide then just know that you will forever be remembered a s a COWARD. Stand up and confront that situation! No condition is permanent. After the night comes the morning. You will not remain in that ugly situation forever. Have hope!! It is better to have hope than to give up and live in despair. You can make it out of that daunting siuation. SUICIDE IS FOR COWARDS!!!! lalasticlala, Dominique, Seun. |

It can work. Each region will control their own resources and contribute a certain percentage to the centre. There will be a president and a prime minister. There will be a central military to protect the south from external aggression and there will be regional policing in the three regions. This is actually the surest and easiest way to throw off the dead weight of the far north. Nigeria was formed by amalgamating northern & southern parts of Nigeria; this can be undone. ![]() |
– Muslims across Nigeria have been warned by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) over the victory of Donald Trump as the president-elect of the United States of America – The group urged all Nigerians with the plans of travelling to the US to suspend their trips – The group said Trump’s victory has negative implications for Muslims in the US and across the globe On Wednesday, November 9, the United States of America concluded its election for 2016. The result of the election saw US businessman Donald Trump as the 45th US President-elect. However, after the announcement of the winner and congratulatory messages from all corner of the globe, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has warned all Nigerian Muslims planning to travel to the US to suspend their trips. The group said Trump’s victory is a bad sign for all Muslims. In a statement signed by MURIC director, Ishaq Akintola: “Americanization of virtually everything coupled with his tortuous isolationism and a pathological obsession with Islamophobia.” Akintola said Trump’s victory has negative implications for Muslims in the US and across the globe. “The contemptuous treatment of Muslims travelling in or out of America has long been a matter of serious concern to advocates of free movement and Allah-given fundamental human rights. “Coupled with this is the horrendous policy of rendition whereby Muslims are kidnapped en route other destinations and forcefully taken to the dreaded Guatemala to face America’s notorious water budding and other forms of inhuman treatment. “The advent of Donald Trump is the last straw that broke the camel’s back. The American President-Elect has divided America along racial and religious lines. He threatened to close mosques. He also swore to give Muslims a special data base in order to control terrorism. The group said: “Trump may be an iconoclast, but the Americans who voted for him were not deaf. They heard him loud and clear.” Read more: https://www.naij.com/1045031-donald-trumps-victory-top-muslim-group-sends-strong-warning-nigerians.html lalasticlala

wordcat:Don't mind them. They have been pretending that they don't care who the president of the USA is but inside them, they are dieing of bitterness and frustration. See what they look like now.

Caseless:Just like your herdsman president buhari might not complete his tenure. Lolzzz

Everyone can see the kind of bile and bitterness that has overshadowed some Nigerians since Trump won the US presidential election. These were the same people cursing Fayose for playing bitter politics against their illiterate herdsman president who told us he sat for WASC but instead of producing his certificate, went ahead to hire all the SANs in Nigeria. To all those so pained because Trump has won, to all those who have suddenly changed their music to 'We don't care who the president of America is,' please take my advise to do what this man here has done. End your misery and frustrations once and for all. These despicable and wicked vermins from some sections of Nigeria are already praying for Trump to die.

victorvezx:What do you mean by Nigerian Army if I may ask? Nigeria of today is not the same as that of 1967. The military will crack in the event of another full scale war. Military men from the SE, SS will pull out. The MB will not join the hausa/fulani to fight with the east again(Thanks to the demonic fulani herdsmen). You only need to speak with these guys and see for yourself. In the end, 'Nigerian Army' will comprise only hausa/fulani+yoruba. ![]() Even the yorubas would quietly ask the hausa/fulani to go and fight their war themselves. ![]() The outcome would be quite different from 1967. Lolzzz |
victorvezx:You are highly deluded if you think a second civil war will be limited to the SE. Every region will have their fair share of the war. You might end up as a refugee in Cotonou. BTW, Nigeria suffered heavier military osses than Biafran soldiers armed largely with bolt action riffles. |
victorvezx:If Biafra can get either the foreign powers of Russia/China or USA/UK Nigeria will not win a second civil war. Everywhere would simply burn down. |
lalasticlala, this would make the front page more vibrant. |
This is the work of wicked people that always want division amongs the Igbos. These people are quick to shout 'Igbos are in five SE states only' yet they claim to have their brothers in MB lands of Kwara & Kogi. I don't blame them but Igbos that have fallen for this nonsense. How can someone serve you shiit and you eat it? When have you heard any say I am MB Yoruba or I am NW fulani but when it comes to us in the east we even shout and quarell about this. It is so frustrating. ![]() Ishilove. |
