Your poverty rates would have been in absolute terms if not for Igbos in your midst. If Nigeria’s 200 million population were made up of only Igbos or just Eastern Nigeria, the country will automatically be a middle income country with relatively high standard of living. It is your overbloated, uneducated, unproductive and poverty ravaged region that brings our average down.

Eg,the Europeans bought Benin and ijebu made cloths, and sold in Congo amongst other things.

Infact on thing that enabled colonialisation was many African tribes eagerness to trade with the whites and acquire European products.

When you talk about years the whites stay as colonialist,you must understand that the didn't have the whole area under their grip at once,they spent several years pacifying different areas and quelling rebellion, before trying to build a political structure and development template,there needed to be a learning curve which took half of the time they acted as rulers.

South Africa was different because they settled in south Africa for several centuries unlike other areas especially West Africa.
