We rescued a severely abused and almost starved to death dog. Momentarily, he stays with my husband and I, is being treated and pampered to regain health and weight.
The dog is a male tall Caucasian, roughly about 1 years old, maybe a bit younger. He received all necessary treatment (deworming, demiting, defleeing etc.) and all necessary vaccinations at this point. He is castrated as we do not want to support the greedy and ugly breeding business in Nigeria. NB: A castrated dog has no disadvantages in any way, neither health-wise nor character-wise.
Please, this is a serious call: we are looking for a *dog lover* with experience on training dogs. *No more violence shall be used against this dog!* Furthermore, we are looking for someone who has a spacious place where he can be free and neither be kept on a chain/leash or in a cage. He has been in the cage/on the chain all his life, which is not an option anymore!
This dog has a great potential, and simply needs care, patience and a lot of love! Within the short time he has been with us, his transformation is simply incredible. He is truly a loyal companion and quick to learn.

Well from my own understanding and little research, there are many reasons and non is because of mental slavery!
Nigeria is not the only dog eating country, we just have few dog eating communities unlike China, Vietnam, Indonesia.... The whole Asian continent! And it doesnt end there; Switzerland & parts of South America. They even have dog eating festivals! The dogs they eat are similar to our local mongrels, special breeds are eaten, not all (check wikipedia for more enlightenment). Our foreign/exotic breed (Rotts, GSD, Caucasians, Boerboels etc) are not on the menu due to parasitic worms, like the infamous Toxocara canis, which can result in blindness, myocarditis and respiratory failure. And also foreign/ exotic breeds where not created to fend for themselves and highly depend on medication to survive. These medications make the meat unfavourable for human consumption.
Asians rank as highest dog eaters, but u will never see them eat their indigenous dogs (Chow chow, Akita, Tibetan mastiff, Tosa inu, sharpie etc). Those dogs were not created for eating, i hope u know man made dogs (all the various breeds) for various reasons and dogs made mongrels...lol. A mongrel is a dog without documented bloodline. Pictures all over the web show mongrels as preferred over pure working/herding/ or showline dogs, which are also more expensive and better used for something else but food.
Is it wise buying a foreign dog just because you want to eat it when that same amount may get you a Ram or cow that has more meat & better nutritional value? Even abroad, pure breed aint cheap. Dog meat lacks nutritional value as goat, ram or cow, thats a fact!
If a foreign dog is eaten, its not because the meat is a staple source, sweet or nutritious, but eaten for survival. After all its still an animal.
Correction; a basenji is a breed of its own, an African breed with similar resemblance to the our local dogs but they are not thesame, a basenji is a "barkless dog" with curled up tails. They dont bark at all! I stand on what I said that Nigerians eat their indigenous dog breeds, whether mongrel or basenji or African hound and not western breeds because of a deep seated mental slavery and poverty. Now with regards to your hypothesis on antibiotics used in western dog breeds which make their “meat”unsuitable or unpalatable please do a thorough research(you could watch H.O.P.E on YouTube for starters) , because even the so called livestock people eat is laced with all kinds of antibiotics and antibiotic resistant microbes and viruses. This is one of the primary reasons humans experience drug resistance in medicine. Also, citing Asians who eat anything that moves including humans as an example is, I’d say, weak. |

I have never chatted with the op as regards this dog, but I am very aware from the first time she posted, as far back as it’s first rescue.
The dog truly was malnourished, and she has helped the dog recover. Personally I see no scam in she posting severally about looking for a home for the dog since she hasn’t found one. However it is true that the same pictures have been posted severally on different threads.
I want to assume that she may not be aware that a thread is not usually closed, and a reminder can be done on an old thread.
A recent picture is advisable irrespective of the situation on ground. A recent picture would help future adopter know what he currently looks like and if his growth is consistent or stagnant.
Nobody has come forward to label her a scam after any deal with her, so no one has the right to call her one.
What I deduce from the argument from the accuser is that he is pained as a a result of a criticism he got on one of his thread, and as a result has decided to attempt to fraustrate the op Thank you so much, I honestly didn’t know a thread could have a reminder to push it forward for viewership. My bad. Additionally, I deliberately refuse to keep posting new pictures of Sombra, because at the end of the day it’s not for show off but to get him a home. Besides all that show would be in vain if he’s taken up by a bad person who doesn’t care for him as much as we have and then he reverts to what he was(malnourished and starved).
