Lifeofgabbyz: 5. Weather change/clothing: The weather over here hits different and when I say different, I mean the weather is cold and it ranges from -0 to 28 degrees depending on the time of the year. In a country where there is a lot of cold you will need thermal clothes as opposed to chiffon clothes. So, if you are thinking about packing your nice chiffon top or if you have packed it. Take it out of your box and try to find clothes that are thick and if per chance you don’t own any you can budget some amount of money so that when you get to your destination country you can get clothes from the stores over there.
6. Culture change: the Irish culture is way different than the Nigerian culture. In a typical Nigerian culture people are taught to kneel when greeting elders but over here no one kneels, you just say hello to whoever you want to greet and don’t get me wrong guys saying hello doesn’t mean you don’t respect the person it just means that the culture here is not the same as that in the country you are coming from. And also when you enter the bus the driver says hi to you and you say hi to them back and when getting off the bus you simply say thank you or thanks a million because that is what the people over here do.
7. Transportation system: the transportation system here in Ireland is different and it also differs per county. For the county that I live in, we have buses and taxis (inter/intra city) and we also have trains (intra city), the buses and taxis operate in the city and counties while the trains just go to other counties. But in Dublin city they have trams in the city. Also, the payment system is different because you pay with either your leap card (a card that you recharge and just tap when you get into the bus) or you pay with cash. Friedpotato: don't try ECE, they will suck your GPA. Unless you don't need a high GPA for the admission and or scholarship.
That was how I wasted 90K to do evaluation. WES gave me 3.1 using their calculator, ECE gave me 2.5.
The thing about ECE is just that it's fast, everything was done within a week.
If you don't really need the GPA and your WAEC grades are high. You can use it. Okay. Nice observation. |

I tried correcting this but I was told Waec don’t issue certificate twice, I got a letter of correction from my secondary school signed and stamp with swear affidavit from court.
The problem is Wes said they will only acknowledge what comes from Waec even if I send the correction letter and affidavit that it doesn’t matter and Waec said they will send only my certificate with the said errors. And they can’t issue certificate twice even if I want to correct the error a woman there told me it’s not accepted anymore since last year
Please my people I need help on this how can I go about this can I do another WAEC or GCE I feel it won’t be accepted because it’s recent unlike the other one . You can try ECE for your evaluation. Send all documents with it. ECE only need WAEC scratchcard and your details. |

Guys, permit me to dash you this 10 cent. Contact your respective schools. most, if not all international student offices in U.S are looking for ways to help their students during this uncertain time. Tuition is being reduced to help people. Opportunity for deferment is also available, though depends on which school and course. The guy who said funding is on paper is speaking for himself. Who remembers 2008 recession? US was mostly hit, yet many Nigerians got funding... The US schools always have money for their academic goals. Whether school lay off professors or or ask them to wait, GA roles are critical to every university's academic plans and goal. Once class resume in Spring and embassy in your country resume, schools will need graduate assistants. you can still get funding. Schools cannot offer GA on paper; this is US, not Nigeria where there's audio scholarship everywhere. They have money, and they will offer you GA if there's need. |

bayocanny: You're just deceiving yourself. If she's deceiving herself, then what are you doing? Telling the lies? Tueh She's right to say schools are being sympathetic with their international students home and outside the U.S. Despite covid-19, there are international students who still have GA, scholarship, and admission deferred to Spring 2021 with funding intact. Someone said here that the scholarship is on paper. I wonder if that dude is a spokesman for all the colleges and universities in the US. Just today, my sister received scholarship worth of $28K. It is not on paper; it is real. Most schools in the US are really showing empathy to their international student. A friend in Nigeria recently got 90% tuition scholarship to study her course online, and the balance can be paid when she arrives on campus in January. What you don't know don't say you know. iwriterng: If you think people in the US don't want you to come over here because of the advice they're giving you, you can't be more wrong.
Your absence or presence does not cause anybody any harm, so why would they discourage you from coming?
Sometimes, we just like hearing what we want to hear, and this is exactly why religion is a big business in Nigeria.
If you think students on F1 visa have the luxury of time to wish you bad luck, wait until you resume and see how busy and stressful your life is; much less invest the little free time you have into discouraging others. Speak for yourself when it comes to a subject like this. Na only you know yourself. There are Nigerians in America who no won others to enter. Your asking that question is like asking a man: What do you gain from being selfish or envious. You may not know, but a selfish person has his reason (s). Always speak for yourself! |

Partially true. I have couple of friends who are in the business of discouraging their Nigerian friends from coming over to study. There's a particular guy who never share good news with his pal back home. But there are those who wish everyone well, and hope they have the same opportunity they had. Being a silent reader and guest for many months, I have spotted both category here. The greedy and selfish one want Trump to will the US to their name so they can stay back in the US after studies and inherit it. Tueh HoluwadareY: My takeaways from this whole conversation can be categorized into 4 people as follow:
1. Most people already in the US are either more interested in us staying alive than travelling to the US or hoping we dont get to the US like them. This is because, most of them jump at every opportunity and magnify every post that reads : " you cant travel this year". They also have posted some things about these impossibilities in the past, and are hoping to God things dont work out so they can say: "I said it". I wouldnt know why, maybe just to preserve their ego or ...
2. Most people still in Nigeria are somehow desperate, hopeful and refreshing their feeds every day. They wish things will work out well so they can put this behind them. Due to this, they turn blind eyes to most of the discouraging contents (even though some of them are true).
3. Some people still in Nigeria are neutral. They are hopeful but also have other plans, while watching how the situation unfolds. If its possible this year, fine, if not, good. So, their opinions might be bias or they may show some form of non-challant attitude...but it doesnt mean they dont care.
4. Some people already in the US knows the reality but while using data from the realities on ground, they still find a way to give people hope or encourage them and put themselves in their shoes...not just saying : " just forget it, you cant travel...blah blah". These people have some high level skill of EI.
In all, if you are still in Nigeria...I think you should aim to be #3...hope that things can be good at anytime but also have other plans to keep you busy while at it. If you are already abroad, please and please, we already know things are bad...you dnt need to spend time on google to find evidence to prove that to us...you dont need to emphasize how bad tins are, you dnt need to tell people not to hope- you might have done worse if in their shoes...Please try to be #4
I hope everyone achieves their heart desires and see you at the top...if MIT is in Nigeria, maybe most of us wont be trying so hard to leave |

Use your school official address, or the address of the graduate admissions. naijaeclectic: Good evening,
Please I'm filling the DS 160 Form, and I'm not sure what to fill in the space where they asked where I'll be living in the US. Under normal circumstances, I should have paid for an apartment, but times are different. Right now, no one knows when we're going so paying for a place in advance is out of it.
Should I write NOT AVAILABLE in the space for address? How did you deal with this, please? Someone suggested that I enter the address of the International Office.
Please help!!!!!

Incantations are deep words. If you listen, you will understand it. I am a Yoruba man, no incantation is meaningless in in Babalawo's dairy; they have have book of incantations you can learn from, because it's legible. Now, God is not the author of confusion! His way is plain and understanding. God bless you all! Professorcplus: What is the difference between the incantations of babalawo and speaking in tongues of Christian all in the name of talking to gods. Same ni. The difference is just packaging.
Modified There is this particular church I won't mention name but if by chance you came across them, they don't pray in men's language. The prayers must be in tongues. No prayer point o. 2hours speaking in tongue stretch. I was invited to their meeting some years back and after the sermon I was asked if I could speak in the Spirit. I replied once in a while. The guys was furious saying its meant to be always. So he said by the time he's done with me I would speak.
Okay, let watch and see. He held my hands firmly and he began. I just kept quite and he continue with some gibberish. At a point I start giving the sound some funny meaning like Bobo sote Mafo wobe comin. Before I knew it, my breath increases, my lip wanted to patted ways; a sound is about to be realised. He told me it is now speak it. I couldn't hold myself again. Finally, I released the sound full of laughter . I laugh sote eye dey push me. |

You don't know what you're saying. So, I am just going to let you be. If you need an unbeliever to preach to, find the person elsewhere. Your comprehension of the things of the Gospel is very limited. Do more of independent Bible studies. Have a great evening! EvangelistChuks: Rom.8:26-Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with "groanings" which cannot be uttered.Get born again first then these becomes clearer to you.1 corinth.2:12 -Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither, can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do We Need To Speak/pray In Tongues? by RemarkableMind: 4:10pm On May 24, 2020 |
EvangelistChuks: Speaking in tongues & praying in tongues or in the spirit are not same. When you speak in tongues or unknown tongues,it's open for interpretation but when you pray in tongues or you pray in the spirit, you are praying to God directly. It's a business between you & God that's why it's for self edification,it for personal spiritual build up(Jude 20-But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost). The first is subject for interpretation but the second is never. Praying in the Holy Spirit, in this context, doesn't mean praying in tongues....balanahehahhaauika. To pray in the Holy Ghost in this context means you pray deeply, according to the direction of the Spirit of God, towards what the Holy Spirit has planted in your heart, or according to His inspiration. So much misinterpretation from modern religious leaders. It is a pity! |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do We Need To Speak/pray In Tongues? by RemarkableMind: 4:07pm On May 24, 2020 |
Speaking in tongue isn't something you get to choose. It is a gift. Do you even know what a spiritual gift means? It is a quality/ability given to you according to God's Will for you and your mission within the world and the Church. God or His Holy Ghost would not give us something that we cannot use or that is not necessary to His Will. It is given; not taken by force or because you desire it, or because your pastor lay hands on you. How many people Jesus laid hands on to impart them knowledge or spiritual gift? That someone "must" speak in tongue to evident the dwelling of the Holy Ghost is nonsense and un-biblical. It is people like you and others who are complete ignorant of the working of the plan of God within and outside the Gospel that confuses others, and belittle the power of the Christian faith. Conclusively, your tongue is unnecessary, given that God understands the language you understands. You neither know what you are saying nor able to interpret for someone who is willing to believe your faith. Even if you believe, you may not speak in tongue. Everything we have from the Father is given according to His Will for us. Most of modern Christians just go to Church to be seen, or feel good about their faith. Most of us don't even read our Bible to understand; we read because they told us to read. ocha88: This wonderful write up just shows how shortsighted some of us that claim to be a Christain are, some even condemned it that there’s nothing like speaking in tongues it shows level of ignorant in our churches today, you call yourself a believer yet you can’t make out time to study your bible to know what you believe in, yet you are quick to condemn what you don’t know about, the reason you will not speak in tongues is because you never believe in it , something that was given freely (mark16:17) just believe that’s all. Finally if you are a believer and you want to know God then seek for the present of Holy Spirit in your life without Holy Spirit in your life don’t even discuss about things of God because education can’t give you the knowledge about God. |
