Three things not to delay.

1. Your debt, pay off debts as soon as possible
2. Burial, bury your dead as soon as death is confirmed
3. Marriage, get married as soon as possible

This is a valid hadith

anyway it takes one brainless dolt to know another, lol

The Arab or non Jew Israelis are those living in the territory before 1948, they are essentially those who participated in the 1952 census. Permanent  residency is possible but not citizenship, while any willing Jews all over the world can return by provision of Law of return.

Yes, an Israeli like any individual can marry anyone his or her heart desires but the marriage is invalid under Jewish law, if the marriage is not recognised what happens to the product of the union. However, Israelis activists are still fighting those laws till today.

@kgdavid---- and a lot of semitic bigotry. it reeks of APARTHEID, racism and ---
Talking of apartheid and racism, not even Israelis can defend themselves of that. No other country in the world is formed based on race, any Jew any where in the world is a citizen of Israel, he may never set his forefathers may never have set foot on the land, no other national can get citizenship, marriage between an Israeli and non Jew is invalid, there is no halfcast Jew one can go on.

PoliticsRe: Attahiru Jega, New Inec Chair. by Remii(m): 10:08am On Jun 09, 2010
Homonide:
The appointment of Prof Jega, radical activist and a man of unassailable character (@ least up till now) as the new INEC Chair is undoubtedly a good men as regards 2011 polls. As much as i believe that he is the right man for the job, given his track record and credentials, he should be careful not to fall into the same pit as his erstwhile deputy when he was ASUU President, who incidentally is the immediate past Chair of INEC, the much hated, arrogant and castigated Prof Maurice Iwu.
The Symbolism in this appointment shouldn't be lost on all students and followers of political history and trend in Nigeria.
I also hope the Professor of Political Science wouldn't fall into the same pit, as another "radical activist" and former ASUU president, Dr Iyiorchia Ayu, who became anti-people and fought against everything he stood for as ASUU President after his appointment as Minister of education. He was also a former Senate President.
Prof Jega as a former Consultant to INEC knows exactly what needs to be done to sanitize INEC and thereby organize credible elections come 2011. The question is: Is President Jonathan and the ruling elites prepared for change by allowing credible elections to hold next year?
Just like Sam Egwu, who was ASUU president in the East when Jega was national President we all know what he did as a minister of education under Yar Adua, but to some extent the task of INEC chairman should more less political, he should just be an impartial umpire simple.

The Man Jega

The new National Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Mohammed Jega, hails from Jega town in Kebbi State. He was among pioneer lecturers employed at the then newly established Bayero University, Kano (BUK), immediately after graduating from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, with a B.Sc degree in Political Science.

Not long after his assumption of duty as a graduate assistant, Jega went to Northwestern University , Evanston, in the United States, where he bagged a Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. He was also on sabbatical and duty leave to several universities within and outside the country.

He was variously promoted to the ranks of lecturer II, lecturer I, Reader and Professor of Political Science. Jega also served as Head of the Department of Political Science, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, and Director of the Centre for Democratic Research and Training (CDRT Mambayya House), all in BUK.

He was the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) between 1988 and 1994.

The professor was appointed as vice-chancellor of Bayero University in September 2005. His five-year tenure would be ending next September.

Jega was a Federal Government delegate to the National Political Reform Conference (NPRC) in 2005 and also served in the Electoral Reform Committee, led by Justice Muhammadu Lawal Uwais, set up by the then President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

Though best known as a labour activist and astute academic, Jega displayed great administrative traits as the vice-chancellor of BUK. Under his watch, the university underwent transformation in various facets, earning the position of Best University in Nigeria according to the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Jega is also reputed to be a strict disciplinarian. He introduced strict rules against indecent dressing on the two campuses of BUK and placed campus politics under critical watch. Jega introduced many courses to the university and erected several structures, including hostels and lecture halls.

His policies endeared him to most student of the institution, who call him with the endearing sobriquet of Baba Jega.

Sources said Prof. Jega, who is the elder brother of Daily Trust editor Mahmud Jega, is a one-time consultant for INEC.

Prof. Jega is the author of the book, Democracy, Good Governance and Development in Nigeria, published by Spectrum Books in 2007

Sometimes I wonder about the thought process of some Nairalanders, these leaders deserve commendation and not insults, most of them were at the ages of NLanders with very limited exposures yet they did what they did. Everything was going good before the military coup of 1966 and that was the beginning of the end. The west in particular had development plans for every 5yrs up to the 1st 25yrs after Independence. When Awolowo got to federal with Gowon he developed same plan for Nigeria, but around 1970, after the war he observed the military govt no longer keen on the plan anymore. that was the main reason he gave for pulling out of the govt.
