The Bible shows that the activities we engage in can either draw us closer to God, or make God far away from us.

Billions of people who profess to be religious cannot boast of having a personal and close relationship with God, mostly because they walk by sight instead of faith. Those who walk by sight, may go to church regularly, sing all the church songs and read all the Bible verses quoted in the sermon by their religious leaders.

But when it comes to application of what they learn, they fail woefully. This is the reason why evils continue to grow all over the earth and are perpetrated by people who claim to be godly.

Lying
Stealing
Adultery
Idol worship
Rebelliousness
Disobedience
Wickedness and all kinds of vices continue to be perpetrated by people who go to church and mosques.

The fact that a person claims to be Christian but practices evil, shows that his form of worship is futile and cannot be accepted by God.
Some 2000 years ago, the Bible in (2 Timothy 3:5) stated this about people of the last days:

(2 Timothy 3:1-5) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.

Clearly, if we examine ourselves and discover that we exhibit all or some of these characteristics of people of the last days, it means that we ourselves have allowed this scripture to be fulfill in our lives. People and children of the last days, are facing a bleak future in the hands of God, on the day of judgment.

For us not to be classified among sinners of the last days, church going is not enough. James 4: 4 states:
(James 4:4) Adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is making himself an enemy of God.

Those who exhibits the characters of people in the world, cannot be friends of God.

There has to be a deliberate change for us to be accepted by God.

James 4:8 states:
(James 4: Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you indecisive ones.

This verse plainly shows that we must be decisive in our desire to please God, and remove our hands from sin. As we continue to make changes in our life, and purify our heart from sin, God will take notice and draw close to us.

To make this process easy, we must follow the Bible advice found in Psalms 1: 1-3, where it states:
(Psalm 1:1-3) Happy is the man who does not walk according to the advice of the wicked And does not stand on the path of sinners And does not sit in the seat of scoffers. 2 But his delight is in the law of Jehovah, And he reads His law in an undertone day and night. 3 He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, A tree that produces fruit in its season, The foliage of which does not wither. And everything he does will succeed.

To be successful in drawing close to God and remaining his friend:

We must try to read the bible every day
Pray every day
Attend Christian service regularly
We must not be hypocrite
We must be sincere to ourselves
We must apply what we read in the bible and constantly turn away from evil
We must stop associating with bad friends and evil doers who can corrupt us and make us return back to our old ways
In the same vein, we must make friends with likeminded, righteous people who will make it easy for us to keep living a righteous way of life.

Beside that , we must also talk to other people about God and his ways

So, a new year it is, and a lot of persons are busy making one resolution or the other. But before February or March, most of them are back to their old ways. The fornicator, adulterers, armed robbers, prostitute and all evil doers, quickly forget about their resolution and go back to their vomit.

Because the desire to worship or please God, was not there in the first place. They just had a new feeling because a new year is coming. In time the new feeling which is not based on faith reverts back to the old emotions.

God is not one to be mocked.
Our decision to change, should not based on a date or an event. That simply means that the change would not last, and is not borne out of love for God, faith or the desire to please God.

Ephesians 4: 22- 23 states:
You were taught to put away the old personality that conforms to your former course of conduct and that is being corrupted according to its deceptive desires. 23 And you should continue to be made new in your dominant mental attitude, 24 and should put on the new personality that was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty.

Colossians 3:5-10 reads
5 Deaden, therefore, your body members that are on the earth as respects sexual immorality, uncleanness, uncontrolled sexual passion, hurtful desire, and greediness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of those things the wrath of God is coming. 7 That is how you too used to conduct yourselves in your former way of life. 8 But now you must put them all away from you: wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another. Strip off the old personality with its practices, 10 and clothe yourselves with the new personality, which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it,

For me, being a better person is an every day project. It is not a 365 days long project, were I have to wait for new year to decide, I need to make a change for the better. God lives from eternity to eternity, and so, if we make up our mind to obey him in all things, we will discover that we really have no need for the world so called New year resolutions that become meaningless for most persons within 90 days of entering the new year.

It is far much better to resolve to do the will of God in our lives every day, come rain or sun, New Year or no New Year, because there is no New year in the eyes of God! God does not change.
So, there you have it. The Bible tells us what we must do, to be better persons every day, from year to year till eternity. Lets read it everyday, and follow it guidance, in order for us to be truly close to God everyday, from year to year and so survive the destruction of this world, which is fast approaching.

But remember, all over the earth humans are buffeted by countless events or occurrences that bring untold hardship and suffering for millions.
So, if we keep hoping for a God fearing person to assume presidency in Nigeria for example, what about places like Cameroon, Niger, Congo Democratic Republic just to mention a few African countries consumed by problems?

If the time already gone waiting for God fearing persons to rule their subjects , has not led to improve living conditions for people, when will that God fearing persons come? What is preventing them from coming? Do present leaders in each countries not go to churches and mosques to worship?

This is the irony and folly of human reasoning about human government or ruler ship.

People keep saying when a ‘God fearing person rules, everything will be okay’.

They want a God fearing person to rule
But they do not want God himself to rule.

So it becomes ‘God fearing person’, God is attached because they know, the person fear of God might make him act godly as a leader.

But the question we should ask is this:
Can a human rule over his fellow human and successfully solve his own problems?
Did God create Adam to rule over himself or to be independent of God?
Does man have the ability or capacity to rule himself effectively?

The answer to these questions can be found in a simple truth revealed by Jeremiah the Prophet of the true God.

Jeremiah 23:10 plainly states:

I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.

Simply put man does not have ability or capacity to rule himself.

Don’t forget,

It was man, Adam that got us all into the present mess mankind has found himself. Sin and disobedience led to their been rejected by God.

So how can man be able to solve the same problem he created way back in the garden of Eden some 6000 years ago? Is 6000 years not a long time for a God fearing person to have come and solve the problems created by Adam the Devil? Can a man solve the problems of the whole world?

Humans were created by God, hence it is only God our heavenly father, that can get us out of the hardship and suffering we are experiencing today, whether in the forms of :
Economic hardship and poverty
Suffering caused by the death or sickness of a loved one
Hardship caused by terrorism and crime
Suffering caused by natural disasters and wars and so many others etc.

The sad truth is that human rulers and the subjects creates more problems than solution for themselves. That is why problems keep multiplying everywehere.

Man is powerless to permanently solve these problems, whether God fearing or not. What we do best is manage or cope with the situation. No human can eradicate them for good.

As epitomized by Jeremiah statement in the above Bible verse, we humans cannot direct our steps, how then can we direct the steps of others for their own betterment?

That is the reason why in his model prayer, Jesus encouraged his disciples to pray this prayer recorded in Matthew 6: 9, which states:

Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth.

Only when God’s kingdom comes to this earth, that is when God’s will, will take place on the earth.
Jesus was in essence saying that we should keep praying for the kingdom to come on time, without this Kingdom intervention in the affairs of this world, evil deeds and wickedness of men will continue to increase.

Immediately God Kingdom comes, evil and wicked men who are the main causes of wars, crime, economic hardship and other man made problems will be destroyed from the earth. Only the righteous will be saved or preserved alive.
(Daniel 2:44) reads:

“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever,

Psalms 37: 19-11 also states this about the wicked:
(Psalm 37:9-11) For evil men will be done away with, But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

With the removal of all the wicked from the earth by Gods kingdom, the stage will then be set for the righteous survivals to fill the earth with righteousness and also to make it into a global paradise under the directions of God’s kingdom.

In Matthew 5:5, the Bible states:

(Matthew 5:5) “Happy are the mild-tempered, since they will inherit the earth

God will not forever allow the earth as it is now, to be filled with evil and righteous people at the same time. No!
Evil men and righteous men will not forever coexist and cohabit this earth.

The time for all the evil doers of this earth who are content with human rule, so that they can continue to flourish in evil deeds and fill the earth with badness to be cut off like green grass from this earth is imminent at Armageddon, which is Gods jugdemnt upon the wicked of this earth.

Psalms 92:7 states
(Psalms 92:7) When the wicked sprout like weeds And all the wrongdoers flourish, It is that they may be annihilated forever.

The hope of the wicked is destruction at the hands of God.

After they have been cleared out from the earth, God purpose for the earth will then be realized.

That is when hardship and suffering will end, because God ruler ship of the whole earth has started and humans are no longer allowed to defragment the earth and rule over their territories.

If you doubt this, look at what is recorded in Rev. 21: 3,4

(Revelation 21:3, 4) With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

So only when God’s kingdom starts to rule over the whole earth filled with righteous humans, will hardship and suffering be a thing of the past.

God promise that mourning and outcries will pass away must surely take place. Not even natural disasters and acts of nature will causes hardship or suffering to righteous people living on the earth, because, Jehovah God will control the natural elements then, just as Jesus Christ was able to control the raging storm as recorded in the Bible.

So while many people keep waiting for a God fearing person to come and rule over them, in the hopes of better life, those who are truly righteous keep praying for God’s kingdoms to come, because they know it is the only solution to all the problems in the world today.

With the way things are now, getting from bad to worse, Only Jehovah God can save us and renovate the entire earth system to a peaceful new world free of sin, hardship or suffering.

4 years come, 4 years go, of human rule cannot bring peace and remove sickness, death or crime from this earth, irrespective of the country you live.

Only God’s kingdom can. So we all need to pray every day for this kingdom to come quick!

Please bro when you read the bible, don't pick a verse and just interpret it on its own basis, scripture must be interpreted with scripture that's what the bible said.
Regarding the 144 thousand you people claim are the only ones who will go to heaven, the bible you quoted also gave you the accurate fact and truth if only you will accept it.

Please Read Revelation 7:4-17 very meditatively.

You will see that the 144 thousand people were sealed from the 12 tribes of Israel alone!. These do not include people of other nations and tongues and tribes. This was done in fulfilment of a promise of God to the Jewish nation that a remnant will be saved for the fact that they were used by God to teach and reach out to all other nations and for the covenant He had with them. Don't forget that the rejection of the Jews. brought about the acceptance of the gentiles. Look at the promise made in the Old Testament in Isaiah, repeated by Paul in the New Testament, and fulfilled in Revelation chapter 7. These are the 144 thousand!.

Isaiah 10:22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

Romans 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Romans 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Now look very carefully, you will see that while John could number the 144 thousand before the throne of God, he could not number the others, which clearly tells you of another set of redeemed souls from all over the world, who are also in heaven standing where the 144 thousand where standing. Do you see that Watch tower is lying and deceiving you people?.

Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

How could John not number these people after numbering 144 thousand?, does that not tell you they are a different set of redeemed souls?, and how come they are standing before the throne of God?. Is the throne of God on earth or in heaven?. How did these uncountable people get there?.

A new heaven and new earth is symbolic language that tells you that Gods kingdom is now the government of the day(represented by heavens) and a earth filled only with righteous people( new earth).

Please, while responding, be careful about your confirmation bias. It really evident in the way you use quoted scriptures to support your writeup. An example is on how you apply 1 Ti 4:16. The context reveals that the teaching, saving oneself and those who listen to him is in relation to the teachings that goes on within the church or the christian congregation. But as a result of your confirmation bias and the need to use the quoted scriptures to support that each Christian must preach to get save, your have brought in the word preach (subconsciously, without seeing the switch your mind has done), then teach and saving oneself and others.

But the Irony is, through the first letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul in nowhere indicated the need for him to preach outside the congregation or to preach house to house to the need for the members of the congregation to preach house to house.

On your second point, I understand your point. Sometimes I compare what I belief and have seen myself in the Bible with what the churches all around me teaches: I have come to realize that our doctrine as a group is fundamentally different from the worlds doctrines.

Interestingly, it was not always like that. In the past, we used to accept many of the worlds Biblical doctrines.But as time went by, in depth study of the Bible continuously showed that all teachings of the world churches are not Biblical or the truth.

Again, you see , nobody can just wake up and say he wants to become a JW and it will become so.

First you can't become a JW by merely attending our meetings.

To become a JW, you need knowlegde. Read John 17:3.Without knowledge no one can gain everlasting life. That is why Jesus spoke of acquiring the knowledge or learning about God.

Other religions are not like that.Just walk into any church and from day one, you will become a bonafide member.

Not so with JW. You must study the Bible for a minimum of 3-6months, if you are highly intelligent and also display the knowlegde of what you study in your life over that period. If you Dont meet these criteria, you can't be allowed to preach or advance to baptism. And if you Dont get baptize, you can't be called a JW.

God s standards are very high. As much as God accept sincere people, he educats them properly about his way before he gives them any assignment.

The reason for the education is to make them know what God expect of them as His servant. God does not deal with ignorant people and leave them in their ignorant state.

Take a look at the way churches all around us handle the issue of tight or funds. JW Dont do that. Contributions in JW us voluntary. We Dont force people to pay tight because the era of tight giving has passed with the death of Jesus Christ.

I studied the Bible for a year before I could be baptized as a witness. JW want to make sure you are sure about what you are taught from the Bible. As we teach people, we encourage them to ask serious questions. We also tell them to ask their pastors questions they ask us. Saul who later because Paul was a sincere person who belonged to the religion called Judaism. He believed that Judaism was the true religion and so, what happen?

At the end of the day, Paul and his associated committed murder when they killed Stephen whom they stoned to death.

He made it clear that even when people committed murder by killing genuine Christains, in their minds, they are sincere and doing the right thing to the Christains whom they hold as fake worshippers of God.

We must find the true religion and join them.

3.Do you know that our preaching changes lives? Why would anyone not want a better future for the earth even God himself does?

Sincerity in the context above write, refers to honest people who are straightforward.

Many people are not aware of Gods purpose for the earth, still they yearn for better days.

They think things will continue like this forever.

Many sincere people are helpless because of the way things are.Billions want to see dramatic changes but do not know how to bring it. These sincere ones want a better future for the earth. Only those who exploit the earth resources excessively without regards for the impact on the environment are insincere, especially when they know the consequences of their activities. It is not the brand of worshippers today who swim in evil deeds yet call themselves Christains and want to be in heaven. People who commit murder and fornication with glee but pay lip service to God are not accepted by God and cannot be rewarded with life in paradise earth or heaven. Will they not continue the lawlessness they practiced on earth if they are into Gods new paradise on earth or heavenly life?

By sincerity I mean people who worship God out of a pure heart, people whose conduct are holy. These ones want the best for the earth, they are not bothered about where there rewards will be. If God calls them to heaven, they accept.If it is life in paradise earth, they also accept. They know Gods purpose and happily live their lives around it.

Now, if people do not want a better future for the earth, that is their cup of tea because, it is opposite of Gods purpose for man and the earth.

Who ever does not align himself with Gods will and purpose, certainly will not be alive in the future paradise.

Some religious leaders claim that it is in our heart or established on earth. What does the Bible Say?
Well, lets see some verses in the Bible, to learn about this very important subject.

Majority of the problems facing mankind today, emanates from two sources:
1. The first source is Satan the Devil
2. The second source is Satan followers, evil doers who are multiplying all over the earth like grass.
If you can take care of these two groups, man’s problems on earth are practically solved.

Now, who amongst us can contain Satan or his followers? Can we do a better Job than God, who has promised to handle these two groups at the appointed time?

According to Jeremiah 10:23 states:
(Jeremiah 10:23) I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.

We do not have the power over our own lives, let alone our fellow man or the powerful spirit enemy of God, Satan. We do not have ability to fix our problems, only God, our creator has.

The Bible clearly shows us how God intends to make life better for everyone who believes in Gods promise to make the earth, into a paradise. Central to the realization of God’s purpose for righteous humans on earth, is God’s Kingdom or Government. It is interesting that Christendom leaders don’t preach about paradise on earth or God Kingdom. They invest a lot of energy in the doctrine of hellfire but nothing on Paradise on earth or what God’s Kingdom will do.

The Truth is this: The Churches don’t preach about God’s Kingdom, because they don’t want it to come. They what God’s Kingdom will do when it comes, and because they don’t like what it will do, they have decided to Ignore this very important Bible teaching and kept their members in the dark about God purpose to make mankind live forever on paradise earth in perfect health.
Now let me go ahead and share with you what the Bible says, about what God’s Kingdom will do.

According to the Bible book of Daniel Chapter 2:44 -“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever,

From this verse:
Jehovah himself established the Kingdom in heaven.
The kingdom will never be destroyed

It will not be passed from one government to another or handover to humans afterwards
Finally, it will destroy all present human government all over the earth and become the only theocratic government earthwide. For 6000 and counting, humans have tried all form of governemt and failed. The only government that has not been tested and allowed to rule over humans on earth is God’s Kingdom. Death, sickness, poverty, corruption, wars and all manner of evils are ills human government have not been able to eradicate from this world despite man’s advances in science. IF God ‘s kingdom were start ruling physically over the earth today, do you think we will still be faced with the above problems?

Personally, I answer no.

Do you know why?

Because Jehovah has installed Jesus Christ, his firstborn son as King over the Kingdom.
That is why Jesus Christ is referred to as the ‘King of Kings’ and Lord of Lords in the scriptures(1Tim 6:15). By means of this Kingdom, under the headship of Jesus Christ, God will bring unimaginable blessings to righteous humans living on this earth and at the same time, everlasting destruction at Armageddon of all the wicked living presently on this earth. For good people, God kingdom means everlasting life, but for evil doers, it means eternal destruction.

Does God give the wicked hope of everlasting life? The wages of sin is death. All evil doers will be killed by Armaggedon!
If evil people think that God wont smash unrepentant evil doers on earth soon, the perfect example of the flood that wiped out the wicked in that righteous man’s time is a pointed remainder that there is no peace and future for the wicked!

God does not put the unrepentant evil doers in his purpose for this earth. Only Good people fit into God future arrangement of everlasting life in a peaceful new world.

In the Bible book of Matthew chapter 6:9, Jesus taught righteous humans an important lesson about God’s kingdom.

In that verse, he stated: “You must pray, then, this way: “‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.

In Matthew 6:10, Jesus added: Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth.

From the above verse, we see, that if Gods Kingdom does not come, the Will of God for the earth will not take place. Hence, Jesus encouraged righteous ones to pray continually for the Kingdom of God to come. It is only when this Kingdom comes, that is when Gods will or purpose for righteous children of Adam will be accomplished. You see, good cannot permanently conquer evil permanently, if this Kingdom does not come. Mankind needs this Kingdom for his survival, future and lasting happiness. God’s will for this earth will only be realized if his Kingdom comes as Jesus asked us to pray!

Now, for Gods will to take place without hindrance on earth, wicked ones need to be cleared first from the earth. God’s kingdom cannot allow or coexist with evil doers. That is why Daniel 2:44 says human governments will be destroyed from the face of the earth, because they are permanently in opposition to Jehovah Gods purpose. It is not a question of if, no. God has penciled down all human government for destruction. Who can stop it?

Revelation 16:13 states: And I saw three unclean inspired expressions that looked like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the wild beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 They are, in fact, expressions inspired by demons and they perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the Almighty.
Can you fight against God and win? Of course we know the answer!
