Politics"THE CORONAVIRUS FLIGHT" - Olanrewaju Olubayo by Rexojie(op): 1:57am On Jul 16, 2020
Initially it was Abba Kyari in Abuja and the class of the 'untouchables' later the flight went around the country and landed in Lagos; Hon. Bayo Osinowo, it touched down at Oyo; Ajumobi; the immediate past state governor and now back in Lagos; Hon. Tunde Braimoh but I sincerely smell something in all these!

Thankfully, the pandemic is global which restricted our leaders and confined them back home else, would have found their ways out of the country with their families and leave poor Nigerians to their fate; an ex-vice president of Nigeria once had a freak accident (little sprain) doing exercise at home pronto, he was already in a foreign hospital as if there were no longer competent doctors in Nigeria to handle such minor cases.

The countries they could have run to already have enough headache on their hands as a result of the pandemic so now we must all face it all together.

PoliticsEDO 2020: Edo Must Reject Darkness - Paul Ife by Rexojie(op): 1:10am On Jun 30, 2020
This is Calling on all well-meaning Edo State citizens. It is time to be on the alert and to begin an open support of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his deputy, Mallam Gani Audu on the journey to move Edo forward.

It is campaign time and the election is few weeks away. Those who do not want Edo State to move forward are getting ready and are cooking up white lies about our candidate. They must not go free. Edo state treasury is empty as we speak. The People Democratic Party (PDP) is back to loot and share the money.
Edo State needs Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his deputy, Mallam Gani Audu to make it a model in Nigeria. The APC cannot lose Edo state and the people return to Egypt.

A desperate governor who empties the state treasury to buy a party membership card and an expired gubernatorial ticket with doctored credentials is a fraud. Edo State cannot afford another four years of such a governor.

PoliticsEDO 2020: Time For Tinibu To Steer Clear Edo Politics by Rexojie(op): 7:01pm On Jun 29, 2020
Someone should probably take a friendly message to Chief Bola Tinubu, advising him to stop interfering in Edo Politics, as it will indubitably send him, like his friend and partner in the 'revered' and 'hallowed' act of godfatherism, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, through the hollow path of political irrelevance, into an outright political oblivion.

He probably should do well in making inquiries from his ancestors, who on invitation, once historically came to this land, and having found it extremely difficult to rule, tagged the land 'Ile Ibinu', meaning 'a land of vexation', and then left the people in peace.

There is no time as vexatious as this, when the collective will of the people is at a precipice, standing stealthily upon the edge of a knife, as a result of the overbearingness of those who would stop at nothing to prevent things from being as the people wish them.

The people of Edo State will resist both internal and external invasion as they will never sacrifice a working and responsible government for one fuelled by thuggery and illegalities. The people are unwilling and unable to accept a retrogressive movement to the dark days of thuggery, impunity, violence, profligacy, recidivism and political rascality.
EDO is not Lagos

PoliticsOshiomhole's Saga: 6 Lessons To Learn by Rexojie(op): 9:23pm On Jun 26, 2020
I feel sorry for Oshiomhole that despite his outstanding works as a governor, he may now go down in history as a villain instead of the hero status he deserved. Where did it all go wrong for him? We can learn some lessons from his mistakes.
1. Do not take God's grace for granted Oshiomhole is no doubt a product of grace.
For an ordinary Tailor without even a primary school cert to rise through the ranks to become NLC president, a state Governor and the national chairman of the ruling party could only be grace at work but when he got to the top, he forgot the hand that lifted and held him, he elevated himself to the position of a god and started bragging: "no man born of a woman can remove me...",
"I will give Obaseki Ambode treatment... He became high handed and started stepping on people's toes. He went into overdrive, wielding the axe on anyone who dared to confront him, masterminding electoral irregularities with full blown violence and daring anyone to challenge him... He abused the grace that lifted him.
2. Do not underrate anybody
One of our proverbs says: "if you wake up in the morning and sees a fowl pursuing you, you'd better run because you don't know if it had grown teeth overnight".
When he was suspended by his ward Chairman, he called him a local politician, a village champion, an 'ordinary' ward chairman and refused to appeal the suspension within the window provided by the constitution until a federal high court in Abuja affirmed it, then he started running helter skelter, looking for a last ditch intervention to save his head until the appeal court gave him reprieve.
He also serially underrated the power of a sitting governor.
3. Pride goes before a fall
After the Abuja high court judgement, he did something admirable; he humbled himself, called a meeting of the NWC and apologized to everyone with the words "I have realized my mistakes'.
However, realizing your mistakes is not enough, he obviously did not learn from his mistakes as evidenced by his prolonged war with Obaseki and Oshawo.
It was overhead pride to think "how can I a whole chairman call these neophytes for settlement"? A true father does that, sometimes you are at loggerheads with your own children and because you don't want to burn down the house, you call them to yourself, air your grievances and settle the quarrel.
4. Learn to retreat sometimes
There is a time to be brave and a time to be conscious. Only cowards keep advancing in battles without retreating, sometimes we need to learn the art of "winning by losing", sometimes you need to learn to retreat and re-evaluate the battle, your enemy and your potential gains and losses.
Always fight with your sense not your muscles. One of our proverbs says: "if you are too sharp, you may cut yourself in the end", this is what has happened to him.
5. Beware of praise singers
Oshiomhole's supporters did not help matters either, they elevated him to the position of a god, they called him head-swelling names; Oshiothunder, OshioLion, Oshiobuldozer, Oshiowinner, Oshioquake, Oshiofire, the man who has never lost and can never loss a battle and so many annoying names and in a bid to justify the names, he shut his ears to good advise.
The great Oduma of Afemai music had advised him in his album titled "last tenure" that there shall come a time you will look back and see no one behind you but they don't listen to good music, he preferred to dance to "is a goal" and listen to those fair weather Afemai musicians who campaigned for his adversaries at the beginning but turned back to dedicate a track in every of their albums to him after he had won the election.
Sometimes learn how to listen and you could benefit even from those who talk badly.
6. What goes around comes around
He did this to a lot of people; Saraki, Oyegun,... just to name a few. He has simply gotten a taste of his own pie

PoliticsEdo 2020: When The Broom Sweeps The Sweeper! - John Ibadin by Rexojie(op): 8:12am On Jun 26, 2020
He was a fine human right activist, a great Comrade in the struggle, a fantastic labour leader who dared to fight the powers that be such as the great Tony Anenih and even former president Olusegun Obasanjo to a standstill for the benefit of Nigerians!

He ran for the position of the Governor of Edo State and won. He campaigned tirelessly for Godwin Obaseki and he won until things fell apart between him and Godwin Obaseki and the center of unity could not hold again.
He fought again to be the national Chairman of APC, he won and fought against PDP and so many great PDP members could not go back to the senate. As such, he called them names and degraded so many of them.
Unfortunately, the same broom he used to sweep many out is now been used to sweep him out as the national Chairman of APC!
IT IS A SMALL WORLD DEAR FRIEND, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DO, ESPECIALLY IN POLITICS, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.

PoliticsEdo 2020: Obaseki’s Triumphs And Oshiomhole’s Woes, A Lesson For Aspiring Leader by Rexojie(op): 7:13pm On Jun 25, 2020
Sometimes, facing troubling moments becomes a necessity if it leads to the greater good. History has taught us that one could hardly find a lasting peace today that was not forged from the crucibles of war, and like Thomas Paine wrote, "if there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace".

Governor Godwin Obaseki might have probably found respite in refusing to engage himself in a political war, and like Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, exit the stage quietly, but he understood that he would only be prolonging the age long practice where a few individuals dictate the pace of politics, and also prolong the cyclical pattern of governance that has never favoured the people.

The power to do and undo cannot be left to the whims and caprices of Oligarchs who run a government controlled by the few, for the interest of the few. Godwin Obaseki understood the impending disaster of leaving the people at the mercy of these power mongers; he understood the nullity that would arise from his years of hard work in trying to re-engineer the system of governance in the State, and therefore, decided to take the difficult path of political warfare, in order to protect the interest of the people; the true kingmakers.

Adams Oshiomhole had been a labour union activist, rising through the echelon to become the president of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC). He became a two-time Governor of Edo State and then National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In every sense, one could have celebrated him (Oshiomhole) as a successful politician in the Nigerian context, with a prospect of higher political callings. But for whatever reason, he decided to pursue a personal political vendetta that was not in harmony with the people's desire; he needed to become a godfather, and therefore, gave room to the goddess of malicious gossip to undo him, while the very spirit of the partial air, blow him willy-nilly, down the slippery slope of grim politicking and fruitless acrimony.

While in his quiet time he (Oshiomhole) may ponder on the consequences of his actions, the message derived from the political contestation between him and his successor, Godwin Obaseki, should be a great lesson to current and prospective leaders of our nation.

A 21st Century leader who places the welfare of his people at the vanguard of his objectives would surely enjoy enduring legitimacy and public goodwill; unseating him either by means of machination or association would be a nearly impossible task, especially when such a leader is resolute in his resolve and firm in his struggle, just like the Obaseki-Oshiomhole strife has proven.

PoliticsEDO 2020: Reflection That Governor Godwin Obaseki Is Now A Movement - Gbale J by Rexojie(op): 11:56am On Jun 24, 2020
A few days Ago the All Progressive Congress did its Primaries to Elect its Gubernatorial Candidate, which Pastor Osagie ize iyamu Emerged as the Winner, though his Membership into the APC is still very Contentious, however it is also not new that the Incumbent Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki have Crossed Over to the People's Democratic Party After A long Battle with the National Chairman of the APC ( comrade Adams oshiomhole)and few Disgruntled Leaders who are less than one percent of the entire APC Membership in the State, there by making the APC an Opposition Party in The State .

It is instructive to note that, the Governor has been Accused of not carrying Party Members along, with spurious Claims that the Governor has lost Grip of the Party Structure, and also Claiming that Party Faithfuls are no Longer with him,but however with the just Concluded APC Direct Primaries few days Ago, Political Analyst like Myself still find that Assertion as Baseless,Laughable,Untrue and the Pigment of the imagination of these Disgruntled Leaders.

It is imperative that we Put Common Sense On The Table, In The Last Presidential APC Direct Primaries in Edo, President Buhari Scored a Total of 505,827 Votes Which Comrade Philip Shaiubu was the Returning Officer, while the Governor was on Ground to Galvanize the Support of Party Faithfuls for the President, but Emerging Result for the just Concluded APC Primaries shows that Pastor osagie ize iyamu whose Return to the APC has been very Contentious and Controversial Pulled a total of 27,000 Votes to Emerge as the Winner of what People Described has sham, what a Shame to a man who claims to be Popular, though when you juxtapose the Wide Margin between the 2019 Direct Primaries for Buhari and the Primaries that has now made Pastor Osagie ize iyamu the Candidate of the APC, it obviously shows Three things.
1. That Ize iyamu overrated himself and was obviously not wanted by a Preponderant Members of the APC Except by few Disgruntled Leaders, just to Actualize Their inordinate Desires.
2. Obviously it is Now Getting Clearer Them That Edo is Not Lagos and No One Man Can Decide Who Becomes What,As Edo people Are Now in Charge of Their Destiny, while stating Unequivocally That Governor Godwin Obaseki Is A Movement.

Plot by Obaseki and his agents to replace PDP delegates in the forthcoming Edo Party governorship primary uncovered.
Following the current crisis exported by Obaseki from APC to PDP, resulting in a Port Hartcourt based Federal High Court restraining Obaseki from participating in the scheduled PDP primaries, the governor has embarked on yet another illegal means to achieve his aim of getting the party's ticket. It has been uncovered that Mr Godwin Obaseki in connivance with some PDP leaders outside Edo State, is swapping names of delegates loyal to the leading aspirant, Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama with new names which they hope to use to manipulate the outcome of the June 25 Edo PDP governorship primary election in favour of Obaseki.
