The most common version of the birth of Aphrodite describes her born in sea-foam from the castrated genitals of the sky-god Ouranos. "Ouranos (the Sky) came, bringing on night and longing for love, and he lay about Gaia (the Earth) spreading himself full upon her. Then the son [Kronos] from his ambush stretched forth his left hand and in his right took the great long sickle with jagged teeth, and swiftly lopped off his own father's members and cast them away to fall behind him . . . and so soon as he had cut off the members with flint and cast them from the land into the surging sea, they were swept away over the main a long time: and a white foam spread around them from the immortal flesh, and in it there grew a maiden. First she drew near holy Kythera, and from there, afterwards, she came to sea-girt Kypros, and came forth an awful and lovely goddess, and grass grew up about her beneath her shapely feet. Her gods and men call Aphrodite, and Aphrogeneia (the foam-born) because she grew amid the foam, and well-crowned (eustephanos) Kythereia because she reached Kythera, and Kyprogenes because she was born in billowy Kypros, and Philommedes (Genital-Loving) because sprang from the members. And with her went Eros (Love), and comely Himeros (Desire) followed her at her birth at the first and as she went into the assembly of the gods. This honour she has from the beginning, and this is the portion allotted to her amongst men and undying gods,--the whisperings of maidens and smiles and deceits with sweet delight and love and graciousness." http://www.theoi.com/Olympios/AphroditeMyths.html |

Aphrodite: Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/02/NAMA_Aphrodite_Syracuse.jpg Aphrodite is my favorite, the most beautiful woman of all. |

spyder880: Tone down your words, get less suspicious of other tribes and generally be good. Pay your taxes and make sure to push your leaders to use the money well.First you need to stop using the word "tribe" |
Obatala protects everyone. incredible indeed! |
PAGAN 9JA:True! The story about Oduduwa and falling down from heaven is still a better story than the bible, koran and torah |
afam4eva: I just wanna know if it's Dangote cement or Ibeto cement that was used. Lol.The chain was probably created using metal. Probably gold, iron or some type of rare metal we dont know of. |
afam4eva: Which building material was used??Does it really matter what material Olorun used? Olorun is a "GOD" after all. |
afam4eva: Lol, guys abeg not wound perrson forr here.if you dont know something then stfu, what is with you and Yoruba in general? Anyway, Olurun made the chain and give it to Obatala to make the world. Here is how the stories goes: "His mighty brother OBATALA, one of the elite of the ORISHAS, was given the task of building the Earth. To get him started, OLORUN, the God of the Sky, gave him a handful of mud, a chain, a five-toed chicken, and detailed instructions. But like so many builders throughout history, OBATALA failed to turn up. Instead he had gone to a party. Seeing his chance for fame and glory, cheeky little brother ODUDUWA pinched the holy building materials and attempted to jerry-build the Earth himself. It was only D.I.Y. on a slightly larger scale, he thought. Advised by a friendly chameleon, he lowered the chain over the edge of heaven, climbed down, and tossed the lump of mud into the primeval sea. The five-toed chicken hopped onto the mud and began scratching it in all directions. |
anonymous6: Off topic just wanted to add this video for proud Nigerians every whereHa! thank you, i was looking for that video! PROUD NIGERIAN!! |
anonymous6: I don't think it is laziness, it is the fact that they don't see a gain in it, Africans want to see the fruits of their labor(which is understandable) and when governments are making the system like that in such a way where the citizens can have that reassurance, they will be less inclined to do so. That is why many Africans(mostly of poor back ground) today go to first world for a decade or more, then come back with their hard earned money to build a house, business, and etc. That is what is happening right now, African governments need to do their countries systems in such a way that these Africans don't need to travel overseas and accumulate in foreign land just to do things to progress their own homeland. Germany and Japan(eventually) learned to make their systems in such a way where their citizens can build in their own land without going overseas. India(caste system) and some other countries are going through the same thing as what is going on in African countriesI agreed with you! Most Africans cries about changes, yet they wont fight for it. |
Dont like it? Do something about it. Nigeria wont change if all you do is complain and sh.it. If you want changes, then be the change! |
Thanks for the video @Op. |
Very beautiful arts, makes me wanna learn wood carving. |
