Dubai: Seventeen-year-old candidate Ahmad Burhan became the first American participant to win the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) on Tuesday, walking away with a prize of Dh250,000. A national champion in several American Quran competitions and a second runner-up at an international competition in Kuwait last year, Burhan left behind 103 other participants from across the world as he received the coveted award from Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Participating in just his second international competition, the grade 11 student from the northern US state of Minnesota was obviously elated at achieving something that his compatriots couldn’t in several previous attempts. “It’s a great feeling and an unbelievable result. I never thought I would win, because the competition was tough, but I am grateful to Allah for this blessing. It is particularly sweet to know that I am the first American to win here,” said Burhan, who began memorising Quran at the age of seven and completed it at 12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSBomRgdO6c cc: mukina2, Sissie

Nice post..Some brothers leave the masjid without observing the witr with the imam because the witr is the last solaah of the night. If one wants to observe a naafilah after praying witr, one can do two rakaats just like Bilaal after every ablution and elongate it if one so desires during |
Assalaamu alaykum In Shaa Allah, I hope to attend the Lagos iftar event |
I would advise the second cover be kept...As Mr. Gabi did not go on his journey alone but went in a group.. It would just make his story seem isolated...And the silhouette and the red sand dune of sahara is just perfect..,My opinion though... |
The government has been successful in turning members who were hitherto working "harmoniously" against one another. The case of ASUU and JAC is akin to the case of Doctors and Nurses. Knowing well that the government did not have enough for everyone, they bargained with the perceived "Most Powerful" member(ASUU) and paid them the largest chunk, because other unions are "mere support staffs" whose rights can be trampled on without much fuss. They then subtly ordered the VCs to ensure proper functioning of the system since their grievances have been addressed. VCs went overboard and the resulting chaos is what we are experiencing. How can a sytem run smoothly then? Sadly, the only loser in this game are the students who have been made grasses upon which gladiators wrestle! |
Poor reporting from Premium times. When did National Association of Academic Technologists ( NAAT) become NAT(Non Academic Technicians)? Guess Nigerian journalists and media houses still have a long way to go. Hardeysolution: |

Very inspiring piece.......May Allah provide halaal sustenance for us....and guide us in our daily travails of life 1. Pain doesn’t exempt you from work 2 You have to “act” in order to “get” |

There was pandemonium after students who were originally slated for 9:00 am on Monday, 15 May, 2017 at Westhills High School, 1 Pleasant Street Ojokoro Village Oriokuta Ikorodu, Lagos were delayed for their exams. They started a 11:00am, almost 2 hours behind schedule. According to most students, all the systems were shut down barely over an hour after they started. They are now appealing to JAMB to help them as their fates hang in the balance. NOte: They reported that one of the centre;s coordinators threatened to log all the students out, and after 10 minutes, all the systems were shut down...claiming it was done from Jamb HQ in Abuja cc: lalasticlala https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE4smr-nMo0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oqaQ0XVlo8 |

*Jannah Lies Under the feet of your parents* You never see the tears that she's about to cry ... instead she turns her head to hide them. You never see the times she stills away to her secret closet to pray ... instead she invites you in to just talk. You never see how her shoulders are sagging from heavy burdens ... instead she gives you those shoulders to cry on. You never see the aches in her heart when her children rebel ... instead she gives them more patience and love. You never see the hand she pulls back when she's rejected ... instead she continues to lend a "helping" hand. You never see the aches in her hands from grasping and holding on when she feels like giving up ... instead she folds those same hands and prays even more. You never see the aches in her knees and forehead from praying for others ... instead she spends even more time on her knees. You never see the fears she has of being a "disappointment" ... instead she prays for more power and a sound mind. You never see any of these things and she doesn't want you to ... InshaAllah please take a moment to thank Allah SubhanhuWaTha'ala for bestowing us with such amazing kind parents :] Rabbighfir li wali- walidaya wa lil mu'minina yauma yaqumul hisab. Rabbir ham huma kama rabbayani shag-hirra ”O Lord, forgive me, my parents and Muslims in the Hereafter. Oh Allah SubhanhuWaTha'ala, show mercy on them as they have nourished me when I was young" Ameen thumma ameen |

I decided against taking the offer because of the bond...Also,I found it rather odd that the allowance to be paid would be cut by half after the initial three months for the classroom training to cover the cost of feeding, accommodation and other sundry expenses....Decided to hold on to my fg job... I hope it has bn full of positives for the guys that stayed....cos seriously sometyms I think of the missed chance...but life goes on |
