Islam for Muslims / First Ever American To Win Dubai Quran Award (2018 Edition)-Ahmed Burhan Mohamed by rhajaan(m): 5:06pm On Jun 09, 2018
Dubai: Seventeen-year-old candidate Ahmad Burhan became the first American participant to win the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) on Tuesday, walking away with a prize of Dh250,000.

A national champion in several American Quran competitions and a second runner-up at an international competition in Kuwait last year, Burhan left behind 103 other participants from across the world as he received the coveted award from Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Participating in just his second international competition, the grade 11 student from the northern US state of Minnesota was obviously elated at achieving something that his compatriots couldn’t in several previous attempts.

“It’s a great feeling and an unbelievable result. I never thought I would win, because the competition was tough, but I am grateful to Allah for this blessing. It is particularly sweet to know that I am the first American to win here,” said Burhan, who began memorising Quran at the age of seven and completed it at 12.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Excellence Of Praying Taraweeh Plus Witr With The Imam by rhajaan(m): 3:31pm On May 25, 2018
Nice post..Some brothers leave the masjid without observing the witr with the imam because the witr is the last solaah of the night.
If one wants to observe a naafilah after praying witr, one can do two rakaats just like Bilaal after every ablution and elongate it if one so desires during

I would advise the second cover be kept...As Mr. Gabi did not go on his journey alone but went in a group.. It would just make his story seem isolated...And the silhouette and the red sand dune of sahara is just perfect..,My opinion though...

Education / Re: Striking Non-academic Staff Warn Unilag To Postpone Convocation by rhajaan(m): 7:56am On Feb 13, 2018
The government has been successful in turning members who were hitherto working "harmoniously" against one another. The case of ASUU and JAC is akin to the case of Doctors and Nurses. Knowing well that the government did not have enough for everyone, they bargained with the perceived "Most Powerful" member(ASUU) and paid them the largest chunk, because other unions are "mere support staffs" whose rights can be trampled on without much fuss. They then subtly ordered the VCs to ensure proper functioning of the system since their grievances have been addressed. VCs went overboard and the resulting chaos is what we are experiencing.
How can a sytem run smoothly then?
Sadly, the only loser in this game are the students who have been made grasses upon which gladiators wrestle!

Poor reporting from Premium times. When did National Association of Academic Technologists ( NAAT) become NAT(Non Academic Technicians)? Guess Nigerian journalists and media houses still have a long way to go.

it is not a flexibility, it a routine. and it drives me nutssssss!!!! U are being controlled by time. You sell your time for money. That prostitution to life. The bill gates of the world dnt live like that. Like animals caged and told what to do or not. It makes me physically sick. Too bad the Nigerian system does nt give us the chance to break into the bill gates world. monday to friday you must be at work at 8am - 5pm, saturday you do ur chores, sunday 8am - 12noon at church. every single day till we quit or get fired 4 breaking one fu€king rule.. sorry for my foul language. just pissed we dnt get to live life to its fullest. we cant go hiking, we cant travel round the world for site seeing nd just enjoy life. we fu€king have to always be at work to live.
As a lecturer. you decide when to fix your classes sometimes... luckily you can also start your side consultancy services . you get to at least have more control over your time as you don't do 9 to 5 routine

Islam for Muslims / Re: What's The Proper Way To Enter The Fold Of Islam? by rhajaan(m): 7:00am On Jan 28, 2017
zayhal:
Asalam alaykum,

The sister is still in Islam but I can say her growth is rather slow. Her husband isn't helping matters at all as he is not really encouraging her, but insha Allah, she'll improve.

And so I use this opportunity to plead to you, our men, please and please, encourage your wives to practise Islam the pristine way. Don't discourage a wife who wants to wear the hijab. Don't say she won't blend with your social class or give other such excuses. A husband's discouragement is worse than that of 10 outsiders. Remember, you'll be accountable for your household on the day of reckoning.
Assslaamualaykumwarahmatullaahiwabarakaatu
what is the situation of the sister presently?I hope she is still within thr folds of Islam

Nokia again with another poorly designed phone targeted to gamers, and lure them away from the Game Boy Advance by including mobile phone functionality in a handheld console.
However, N-Gage was an instant failure, partly because the buttons, designed for a phone, were not well-suited for gaming, neither it had proper design to be used as a phone, hence making it one of the most weirdly designed phones ever.
guessing....the reviewer never used this phone.....still the best gaming phone ever...FIFA 05...lock N load....

*Jannah Lies Under the feet of your parents*
You never see the tears that she's about to cry ...
instead she turns her head to hide them.
You never see the times she stills away to her secret
closet to pray ...
instead she invites you in to just talk.
You never see how her shoulders are sagging
from heavy burdens ...
instead she gives you those shoulders to cry on.
You never see the aches in her heart
when her children rebel ...
instead she gives them more patience and love.
You never see the hand she pulls back
when she's rejected ...
instead she continues to lend a "helping" hand.
You never see the aches in her hands from grasping
and holding on when she feels like giving up ...
instead she folds those same hands and prays even more.
You never see the aches in her knees and forehead from
praying for others ...
instead she spends even more time on her knees.
You never see the fears she has of being
a "disappointment" ...
instead she prays for more power and a sound mind.
You never see any of these things
and she doesn't want you to ...
InshaAllah please take a moment to thank Allah SubhanhuWaTha'ala for bestowing us with such amazing kind parents :]

@Obajana
Highest score was 87% for electrical
Pple also scored very low like 8%, but d least among d 19 people called was 57% on the list. The result came out after those in Lagos for 31st had been sent text msgs. And apart from the first 5 interviewed on 24/10/2016 wit scores ranging from 52%-40% those shortlisted for 31/10/2016 scored below 40%.
...hence d reason for cancellation.

This brings about the problem....I am thinking the obajana test was easier than the Ikeja test for electrical...Abi how come the result is so skewed...just thinking...

@agwuabia, sorry for the late response. was away for some time. It feels really good to know this very long wait of ours is nearing its end. Given that some people have been told to expect feedback by Nov, I am putting my mind on January latest for our resumption. That makes this remaining wait shorter than the one I had for NYSC (Sep-Mar). I definitely pray for an earlier resumption date though.
For those who wrote the test yesterday, would you please answer these:
1. were you guys much, like up to a hundred? people's posts here make it seem like it was just a handful of peeps.
2. was there a list (another one) from which you guys checked your names at the entrance
Most likely we were a bit over hundred
...At the screening..our names were verified against the invitation list and ticked before bn led to d exam rooms

Addition to the above - HR specifically mentioned November for feedback and if you do not hear after that month, then it means...Journey ended.
in the. room I wrote...the woman hr said she doesn't know how long it would take....but if they told you November in the room u wrote...it is still in line...considering mech and mining peeps wrote their tests months ago....
on a side note...we were told the cut off mark has been set at 50%....
