Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Dangote 2016 GETS Closes On February 5th by rhajaan(m): 8:00am On Sep 18, 2016
For the test....indianbix.com is a very good resource for training...I am not guaranteeing word for word questions....but for electrical....going through the tests on the site refreshed my memory....and some formulas and analysis techniques hidden in my latent memory were unearthed..

That said...for the general question...study a mix of indiabix with GMAT...... excluding verbal....but including spatial analysis.....

Don't prepare for the test expecting word for word repetition of questions....prepare as if you really want to understand the underlying concepts in whatever you read....

The HR did not give specific timetable as per response or feedback....

It's going to be Gmat. Two parts.
First part, 60 questions comprises of general knowlege and general engineering knowledge.

Second part, 20 questions on your discipline.
Bro prepare for everything and prepare well.
If you really want the GETS, don't loose the chance. You will calculate alot but trust me it could be easy.
Prepare for numerical and verbal reasoning, then browse through your mechanical Engineering courses very well.
cos the moment u tinking u are killing turbines from ur area, steel from chem abi i dont know comes in, it was just too many random questions. except dem normal O level chem P1V1 kini, and diagrammatic, and some normal maths .. then the area of specialization part was generally easy. my mining was like german or choose ansa, or true or false. buh was still easy esp wen compared to the first general part.
There's nothing misleading about the information. I wrote mine in lagos and prior to handing out the question papers, the lady coordinating the exam took about 30mins to explain the whole GETS programme; the vision, the selection process,....etc. She insisted that we the candidates ask any question about the program rather than reading stuffs on social media. She told us that the next batch for this year would be for chemical and electrical engineers. So I would suggest that guys from those discipline start preparing. The exam was purely academic covered topics from 100L-400L... at least as much as I can remember. And it covered several courses.
The lady also told us that the cut off mark was subject to general performance. And those who eventually scale the test and interview would be taken to Obajana, where they would be trained for 12 months, after which the trainees would be absored to any of the dangote subsidiaries where vacancies exist. She told us this year is the 5th batch since the commencement of GETS. All trainees from the 1st to 2 batches were absorbed 80% and 75% of the 3rd and 4th batch respectively. According to her the trainees would be evaluated quarterly and the overall performance determines if one would eventually get absorbed in any of the dangote subsidiaries. In other words it's not enough scaling the hurdle of test and interview. The academy is also another hurdle. Accommodation and transportation during the 12 months program is free and a stipend of 80k would be provided to each of the trainees. Trainees would also be given 2weeks leave, the timing of which is at the trainee's perogative

To that effect, here are the tips to help you guys pass the test: prepare with GMAT especially the field based aspect and also read some psychometric charts (abstract reasoning). ABOUT LOCATIION
Bros Tis simple...
From Oshodi, enter ikeja inside or ikeja along, if tis ikeja along, cross the railway and trek to ikeja inside "under bridge " from there ask anybody you wanna take keke napep going to Oba Akran and tell the keke man that you wanna drop for Dangote agro sack main gate.
..............
Tis even Trekkable if you are not a butter guy... From there you can still shadow many companies lined up for that Oba Akran road.

THE ABOVE SUMMARIZES THE WHOLE THREAD......#TEAMELECT..Wishing us success

That is the sign of a good coach...seem most of the players can't still swim well enough...

Swimming can help soccer players stay fit in the off-season and serve as a form of cross-training to reduce the risk of overuse injuries. Swim workouts also help to build a soccer player’s cardiovascular endurance. I hope our local coaches and clubs would learn all these

Juxtified:

I take it you are privy to info not previously released to the media.
As soon as I read the report I knew it sounded suspicious. I had to read it two more times to be sure. People always try to whip up public sentiments in anything that involves doctors and hospitals.
But I do not like the issue of the hospital trying to go "the Christian way". Its about time that medical professionals begin to show they know their rights, otherwise they will forever be subject to the whims and caprices of these charge and bail lawyers and police officers. If they have any concrete evidence that the autopsy was manipulated then they should fight back by suing everyone involved, including the pathologist who did the autopsy! Someone has to send a message: "we are here to serve you, but we won't take such nonsense from anybody!"
On point

Yes she will have to unless she is ready to forfeit the allowee. But if she insists on collecting the money she will have to complete the 3 months o.

But I would advice that she arranges with her company to go on the 3 months leave ( without pay) but they will sign her clearance letters for those months she would be away. before delivery she will make an arrangement with the nysc official in charge of her cds and will notify him when she delivers so that whoever she sends to sign the weekly register on her behalf would be allowed to do so.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm...still a bit confused...so you mean she won't be paid the 3 months she is on leave except she comes back and work for it after her colleagues might have passed out?

Also, the arrangement with NYSC Official might be hard ooo....

Good day members, just have a question about maternity leave during nysc.

If a female corps member applies for the 3 months maternity leave and she is granted, and its expiry still falls within the service period of the corps member, would she have to come back and serve an extra 3 months when her colleagues might have passed out?

The only thing I know is forfeiture of 21 days terminal leave, which also needs some explanation..... My wife is on the verge of applying for leave..Any answers, suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Jobs/Vacancies / The Most Bizarre Job Interview Questions...must Read by rhajaan(m): 6:11pm On Jun 04, 2015
Most of us receive a left-field question once in a while, but what if this happens during a job interview? Job interviews seem designed to catch the poor candidate out, and there are some queries you simply can’t prepare for — from the baffling to the ridiculous.
We went to question-and-answer site Quora (http://www.quora.com/What-is-the-most-bizarre-toughest-oddest-question-you-have-been-asked-in-a-job-interview) for some of the oddest interview interrogations

Brandon Hoe

My interviewer, who had a strong smell of alcohol on her breath, asked me several typical behavioral questions. After about 15 minutes of this, she looked at my resume, noticed that I listed 'dancing' as one of my favorite activities and raised both her arms up as if in partner dancing pose. Staring straight at me with a glazed expression, she started gyrating and asked me, "Do you dance the lambada?". I was so taken aback by this that I initially couldn't respond. After a few seconds of confusion, during which she continued her solo dancing, I responded, "Errr.... no, I've never done it before". I didn't make it to the next round of interviews"

“I was asked, 'How would you hide a dead body?', 'How would you build a spice-rack for a blind person?', and 'What is your favourite episode of South Park? all in the same interview,” wrote a perplexed Adam Newman.

Computer game industry executive Keith Boesky wrote that in an interview for a summer job at a major law firm, a senior partner asked him ‘If you could be any vegetable in the world, what would you be?’ Somya Tiwari was asked ‘What is your take on fashion?’, which seems a perfect query for an apparel industry job, but “I am a software developer by profession. And, I had applied for a programming job,” wrote Tiwari.

For others the interview started in the waiting room. After waiting for his interviewer for almost an hour, business owner, Fernando Gutierrez was asked ‘Will you wait for another 15 minutes?’ He replied no, he had a plane to catch.

“It was his secretary who asked and she was shocked when she saw me leave,” Gutierrez wrote. “Her boss was well-known for his bad temper and people didn't usually confront him. I guess he liked the idea of hiring someone who was not scared of him because he called me back and I landed the job.”

And then there’s just the plain shocking.

Dianne Felder said: “Long, long ago, the interviewer for my first job out of college asked (me) what kind of birth-control I used.” She said he explained that the company didn't want to waste time and money training someone ‘if she was just going to turn around and get pregnant.’ Felder added: “I was mortified. Can you imagine someone asking that today?”

Criminal defence lawyer, Philip Rosmarin, wrote that when he was an advertising writer interviewing junior copywriters, he hung a prominent picture of Adolf Hitler just behind his desk, above his head, so his interviewee couldn't help but see it. “We hired the one woman who had guts enough to ask why the hell was that picture there,” Rosmarin wrote.

For some, a job interview ends up taking a different path entirely.

"If I do not offer you this job, will you go out on a date with me?", a female manager asked scientist, Nitin Gupta, when she interviewed him for a position at her firm.

Gupta understood that corporate rules meant could not date her if he got the position. He chose her over the job.

Nairaland / General / Re: Shocking! Illegal Traders Profit From Nigerian Fuel In Togo(aljazeera Report) by rhajaan(m): 11:20pm On May 26, 2015
orikinla: Very large tankers known as motherships –
holding some 60,000 metric tonnes of fuel – come
from Europe and elsewhere and, too big to enter
port, moor offshore.
Nigerian companies charter smaller tankers –
holding 5,000 to 10,000 metric tonnes – to ferry
the fuel from the mothership to depots onshore,
from where it is distributed to filling stations.
Because the imports are subsidised by the

Nairaland / General / Shocking! Illegal Traders Profit From Nigerian Fuel In Togo(aljazeera Report) by rhajaan(m): 11:06pm On May 26, 2015
While Nigerians have had to go without fuel,
some of the country's petrol is being sold in
Togo.
Illegal traders are smuggling it via the sea to
Togo's border with Benin to Nigeria's west, and
are making huge profits.
Those selling the fuel in Togo, who on a good
day can make $40, say it is the only thing they
can do to survive.
Al Jazeera's Ama Boateng, reporting from Lome,
Togo's capital, says buyers insist it is cheaper
than using a fuel station and more convenient.
Even though it is illegal, the fuel is being sold in
the open along roadsides.
Emmanuel Sogadji, president of the Consumers'
Association of Togo, says the government needs
to build more fuel stations or regulate the sellers
so that they could operate safely and pay tax.
"From Lome to the border Aneho, there are no
fuel stations," Sogadji says.
"If a car runs out of fuel the driver must push
his vehicle to the border town before refuelling.
This is why along the roadside you will find
people selling prohibited fuel. Go to some
districts and villages in the interior of the
country and you won't see a fuel station at all."

Islam for Muslims / Re: Homeschooling Mum In The House Please Share Your Experience by rhajaan(m): 10:13am On May 26, 2015
TIPS FOR HOMESCHOOLING

The old Arab proverb
which states:
ﺍﻷﻡ ﻣﺪﺭﺳﺔ ﺇﺫﺍ ﺃﻋﺪﺩﺗﻬﺎ ﺃﻋﺪﺩﺕ ﺷﻌﺒﺎً ﻃﻴﺐ
ﺍﻷﻋﺮﺍﻕ
“A mother is a school, preparing her is like
preparing a good nation.”
Firstly, a woman has to abandon any work or job
outside the house and focus solely on her
household for homeschooling to work. If she must work, it is better limited to a work from home model.

Secondly, a room must be dedicated to learning in
the house with boards, chairs and desks. Also, useful technology must be adopted to promote the children's interest in learning.

Thirdly, the mother must be realistic and draw a
plan based on her competence. A non haafizo can not be saddled with teaching the children hifz l qur'aan. Also, a science oriented
woman would be better equipped to teach maths
effectively up to senior secondary level, while the
same can't be said about a non science based
mum.
Fourthly, the woman can't do it alone....Anywhere
the mum is deficient, the father should come to aid
her
Lastly, all knowledge must be tailored towards
instilling the right Islamic knowledge in the child,
with everything done must be based on achieving
a sound Islamic education.
May Allah bless our pious mothers and wives...

Family / Love Meter Check..seven Signs That Your Baby Loves You by rhajaan(m): 2:50pm On May 11, 2015
1. Your newborn stares into your eyes
Your baby is actually working hard to memorise your face. He is naturally drawn to your face. Your baby's attachment to you will be strengthened by your mutual gaze. He doesn't understand anything else about the world, but he knows you're important.

2 .Your baby thinks about you when you're not around
Between eight months and 12 months old, he'll start to scrunch his face and look around when
you leave the room. And he'll smile when you return. Your baby is beginning to see you as a safe base. He can move away from you and explore the world, but will then return for support and comfort.

3. Your toddler throws distressing tantrums
No, those screaming fits don't mean he's stopped
loving you. In fact, they show he feels secure with
you. He feels able to show his true feelings with
you when he's hurt or angry. He wouldn't do this
if he didn't trust you deeply.

4. Your toddler runs to you for comfort
Children this age may not truly understand the
meaning of, "I love you", but their actions speak
louder than words. It'll be you he runs to when
he when he falls over or feels sad.

5.Your preschooler gives you a flower
Whether it's a bloom from the garden, a finger-
painted heart, a sparkly stone or another gift, it
comes from the heart.
Children learn to give, as well as to receive, by
observing us. Children copy our behaviour, both
good and bad. If you have treated your child with
love and care, this is when you will see that he
has learnt to love and knows how to show it.

6. Your preschooler wants your approval
Your child will start to be more cooperative
around the house and he'll look for chances to
impress. "Look at me!" will become a
catchphrase.

7. Your school-age child trusts you with secrets
It may be an embarrassing moment when he fell
over or a sad moment when he was told off. He
trusts you not to share these moments with
everyone, even if he shies away from your hugs in
public.
