Is it a crime to be honest in this country ? Referencing to the post I saw here yesterday.

I just want to leave there peacefully because I can't see myself working there again. Even all these things was written with my unbalanced emotions. I know I have been traumatized and accused falsely but I believe I will bounce back strongly and soon or sooner God will revealed the perpetrator in Jesus name..

I will be glad if this can be moved to front page.

I would advise you tell your mum you want to learn a tech skill online and you need sometime that would clash with the office hours. Repeat same to your boss(es) and for you to still be honest, get your phone and install python ide and download pdf on python and keep binging till ASUU calls off or you get a sane working alternative.

All in all, leave that place and keep praying for guidance and protection . That 2k+ might have been a diabolic item.

The general ledger is independent of the Islamic alternative finance ledger.
Stannic IBTC was offering it also but they scrapped it some 2 years ago. I believe those who are critical of this ribba or interest are ignorant. what caused the recession of 2008? All leading economist agree it was because of subprime mortgages which are premised on a ribba based economic model.

From your post, it means fix deposit is a sinful business. It is not everyone that knows how to go about the usual businesses, so such persons save towards retirement so that they fix this money to be getting small money to keep life going. We all know how the government treat retired persons.
What advice will you give to these kind of people?

In southern part of Nigeria, there is no non interest bank and employers will require bank to pay salaries of Moslems working in this region, how will such Moslems receive their salary without using interest banking. How will they even keep their savings or they should not save?

You may suggest online banking with non interest bank. How will they get their cash online with out going to bank to get ATM card. Please I your response.

Sterling bank offers an alternative banking platform where you open an imal account. Also if in Lagos, Jaiz bank is an option.

well done sir. this is great...but looking at the screenshot, there is a page loading issue. You can click on the page loading issues....and have your developers look into it.

Nothing is perfect at first.

We want katakatastreet as perfect as it can be.

The problem with disqus is it doesn't work with 'non JavaScript' enabled browser like opera mini.
Some of us prefer the opera mini experience on mobile...data savings and fast loading.

Apart from writing and posting, I do everything else on the site using my mobile device. All my comments are posted with my mobile and I registered on disqus using my mobile as well. I know many others who use mobile as well. Will appreciate if the tech savvy guys in the house can advise in simpler terms in case I'm missing something.

Centino, you can test Your Site Using Google’s Mobile-Friendly Tool( https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly)
Doing this will help you hone in on the specific areas of your site that need work, and give you useful information on how you can make improvements.
One way to do this is by simply using your website on several different devices. Doing this lets you get a feel for the loading times, how well the design works on a smaller screen, whether the content is still readable, and if the navigation is easy to use.
To test your site, you only need enter its URL and select Run Test . The process will usually complete in a few seconds, at which point you’ll see the results.
If your site is mobile-friendly, you’ll see a message letting you know, alongside a screenshot of how your website appears on a smartphone. On the other hand, if your site isn’t mobile-friendly, the results will show you what elements need to be adjusted.

Afterwards, you see where adjustments are needed and you can take it up your specific concerns with your site developers. Hopefully they can fix it without having to redesign.

Business / Jumia: 'africa's Amazon' In Landmark Stock Market Listing-bbc Report by rhajaan(m): 5:07pm On Apr 12, 2019
Shares in Africa's largest e-commerce firm have debuted on the New York stock market, which could see other tech start-ups on the continent follow suit.
Jumia is listing 17.6% of the company at $14.50 a share, giving the company "unicorn" status - a technology start-up worth $1bn-plus.
It is the first tech start-up from Africa to float on Wall Street.
The so-called "Africa's Amazon" has 4 million customers on a continent where just 1% of retail sales are via online.
Jumia was founded in Lagos, Nigeria, by two French entrepreneurs in 2012 and now offers services to most of the African population, in countries such as South Africa, Tanzania, Egypt and Ivory Coast.
Its largest shareholder is MTN, Africa's biggest telecoms company.
The company said on Friday that the flotation on the New York Stock Exchange would raise $196m (£150m) for shareholders and for future investment. Jumia's financial advisers had been pitching the shares to investors at between $13-$16 each.
Jumia operates in 14 countries, including Kenya, Ghana, Algeria, Angola, and Senegal. The website sells everything from electronics to clothes, and there is a hotel and flight booking site, and a takeaway food delivery platform. In Kenya, Jumia has teamed up with French supermarket giant Carrefour to offer online deliveries.
The company's sales jumped by almost 40% last year to $147.3m.
The BBC's Africa Business Editor, Larry Madowo, said that Jumia was not yet profitable and had accumulated losses of nearly $1bn since it was founded.
Although there are technical and infrastructure hurdles to growing Africa's online retail market, he said a big selling point was that Jumia accepted mobile money payments across a continent where few people have credit or debit cards.
However, he said Jumia faced tougher competition. "Its initial public offering coincides with the launch of a competing app from global logistics provider DHL allowing consumers in 11 African countries to buy directly from global retailers.
"The DHL Africa eShop brings together more than 200 American and British retailers and will deliver directly to homes, something Jumia has struggled with."
Erik Hersman, chief executive of Nairobi-based internet and software firm BRCK, said Jumia's listing sent an important signal to other African start-ups that a major stock market listing was possible.
"It's an important event in the evolution of the African tech scene," he told the BBC last month.

LagBlogger:
OP

I wish to commend your efforts in bringing BJJ to Nigeria but don't mislead people. There is no such thing as best self defense martial arts/system. It's mostly about the practitioner and to a lesser extent the art.

Secondly BJJ as a self defense system only works well against single opponents and on soft ground (such as in the ring but not concrete ground). For street fighting even BJJ black belts will tell you striking martial arts work (boxing, kickboxing, karate and Silat etc) better than grappling (BJJ, Judo Wrestling etc) for obvious reasons.

All the same well done for introducing BJJ to Nigeria and I wish you guys success in your ventures.

Nice comment. However, this position would have been exactly as you have stated if both fighters are mixed martial artists. If not, the odds are heavier against a clear-cut stand-up fighter with no grappling experience for reasons below:

1. Jiu-Jitsu provides specific guidance against other martial art disciplines. Many martial arts disciplines (not all) are often focused on non-martial artists or practitioners of related disciplines.

2. Jiu-Jitsu up till this moment is globally recognized as that discipline which adequately prepares one for real street combat, where no point system, rules, time limits or referees are allowed.

3. Contrary to popular belief, Jiu-Jitsu is not entirely a grappling art, its self defense techniques on and off the mat has brought so many practitioners within its fold.

4. More importantly, jiu jitsu emphasizes on leverage and techniques that work perfectly against bigger and stronger opponents as kicks and strikes by a smaller and weaker person (some women for example) may not easily end the fight as many often assume even where such strikes are at the groin areas. You may have created a much angrier opponent to deal with.

5. Finally, your claim that the fighters make the outcome and not the art was the world's understanding until the first UFC event in 1993. The issue was.. Lets stop asking which art was better, lets see it proved in a closed cage. This cage became known as the Octagon, its door is shot against the fighters who are left to determine the outcome. To avoid any excuses from fighters, time limits did not apply. No gloves, complete bare knuckles. All rules were expunged except two based on the State Athletic Commission. They are - No bitting and no eye gouging. Every participant represented a particular martial art discipline -karate, taekwondo, judo, wrestling, sambo, sumo, boxing etc. The Brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ) representative (Royce Gracie) was the smallest and lightest in weight amongst the fighters. The tournament was for a single day with each fighter engaging in about 3 fights in one night. To shorten the story, Royce Gracie won the tournament. The tournament was repeated in what became UFC 2 with 4 fights in one night, Royce Gracie won again and again in the UFC 3 Event before moving to Japan. He either had his opponents in joint locks or chokeholds, an entirely unfamiliar terrain to them.

Things have changed in the mixed martial arts world, as most MMA Gym prepares their fighters for both stand-up and ground game. Boxers have learnt bjj, karate practitioners have learnt it too... Royce wont perhaps submit them so easily as he did earlier...as they now have a ground game.

A good grappler dictates where he wants the fight to take place, stand up or on the ground and with relentless pressure and ground control, his opponent is quickly out of air. When ground and pound is added, victory is just a walk in the park.

I laugh when other tribes see Northerners as unintelligent Abo..kis....they are silently taking over their educational structures from Southern bred academics and professors...see the amount of scholarships offered to their indigenes.....
They would have gone for good southern professors...but they know they would dominate and Populate their system with southern brethren, knowing fully well they(Northerners) cannot do this in the south ...rather they went for foreign Profs. who would not care about domination but would mentor the Northern academics.

Take a look at Ekiti for example and see how the educational structures are rapidly falling. If you have ever schooled up North...there is a systematic plan to have Northerners...foreign trained and obviously better...to take over from southerners in most Universities... eg ABU and BUK...

I hope other states wake up...

Silver Allyance BJJ. Martial Arts and Fitness.

Recently, Ese's life was under severe attack by an unscrupulous vigilante in utter willingness to register his courage and prove to community residents that the vigilante group is functional.

Ese would simply have been a victim especially has he had to defend his life almost for the first time with an already injured shoulder...

Ese immediately closed the distance, maintained a clinch and executed a take down in form of a pull-guard. With the bad guy in his guard (a secret positional control in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), Ese disarmed him and executed a kimura to force his opponent to submit the cutlass. Ese executed a guard sweep, maintained a dominant side control, transitioned to full mount and submitted the bad guy with an armed bar. As the bad guy struggled his way to break the arm bar, Ese transitioned to a triangle choke (giant killer) and choked the bad guy unconscious within 7 seconds. This choke temporarily suspended the flow of oxygen to the brain which Ese released to prevent permanent brain damage and consequently death.

Ese and the bad guy were safe, no injuries, no bruises. Simple defeat with simple techniques.

(Still wondering whether to learn Brazillian Jiu Jitsu?)

Silver Allyance BJJ(SABJJ) is Nigeria's first registered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy with Team Jiu Jitsu Alavanca and the only West African Affiliate with BJJ Globetrotters based in the United States.

BJJ is often regarded as the most effective system of self defense globally as it has for more than 10 decades tested its system against every other martial arts system known to man. SABJJ introduces Series 1 of the Adult defense Program (ADP) and Kids Bullyproof Program. 4-6 weeks certified BJJ Training course, series 1.

The objective is to develop an energy efficient and technical oriented self defense system that guarantees safety and addresses the realities in a no-rules street fight scenario. This would require leverage, ground grappling, take-downs and submission techniques.
