What people like Peter Obi do not realise is that once Nigerians start paying taxes, citizens will monitor and challenge their government more through defiance and protest. Currently, the way Nigeria fund itself has little tax burden on taxpayers because the resources that mainly fund these budgets are from the ground, hence why Nigerians don’t demand accountability from their leaders. Any President after Tinubu would also be a beneficiary of government funding through taxation. Citizens will also guard their votes and keep a close eye on elections more, which benefits opposition. Peter Obi might never be president not because he was from the South East but because he isn’t a smart. |
aariwa:False!! Most people that voted for Tinubu in 2023 were coy about it. They didn’t go online. |
Rules are rules. What’s the point of making rules without enforcing them? Ineligible players give countries unfair advantages, hence why the rules are made. Imagine Bukayo Saka or Eze gets drafted for playoff against Congo just like that, won’t Congo be angry? If Congo gets thrown out for breaking the rules, so be it!! You should get your acts together as a country. |
This is actually a good sign that military is committed to ending terrorism in Nigeria. It shows assets are being deployed to fight criminalities. Accidents and mishaps will happen but keep going. With the new approach set by the president, more military procurements are incoming. I’m sure our new Defence minister will also prioritise training by collaborating with the very best to train our armed forces. Thank God the pilots safely ejected and God bless Nigeria and its troops. |
franchasng:Easier said than done? How much is AK 47 in the black market? The attackers came with Ak 47, so if churches with all the tithes and offerings they are collecting can’t buy AK 47 for at least 5 members, then close the damn church instead of getting killed like chickens. Nigeria’s law allow its citizens to carry guns. After churches have purchased the riffles, all they need to do is train the ushers on how to handle it with some tactical military skills. They also need to be trained on how to handle suspicious packages , searches, etc. A terrorist welding an AK 47 only understands one language. The killings are just too much. It’s beginning to feel like ethnic cleansing of Christians in the north. |
All churches across Nigeria should have trained armed guards. Highly trained with better communication gadget. These terrorists can inflict this terror because the civilians are sitting ducks. They are just soulless mindless individuals that just point guns at helpless folks. The government won’t protect you, so you might as well protect yourself. In fact, if you are going to church in the north of Nigeria, carry guns with you. Have trained gun men and women as ushers. |
Let’s not forget that Donald Trump is quite an unusual President for an American president. We all can see how he treats South Africa, called African countries s-holes and I don’t think he will ever set foot in Africa. He would just have been this way whoever is Nigeria’s president. It’s a different era, so Obasanjo is wrong. |
Where was Obi when Soludo was CBN governor? He was quite a successful CBN governor under OBJ. Soludo has served all Nigerians nationally which Obi’s CV is yet to match. Obi’s profile is ex Anambra’s governor who unsuccessfully contested for presidency, and that’s Obi’s CV in a nutshell. |
While I agree that protecting local refineries is important, what happens if the Dangote refinery breaks down, requires repairs, or faces supply disruptions? A proactive government should maintain strategic reserves of PMS, aviation fuel, diesel, and other essential fuels—stored in silos or depots—sufficient to last at least six months to a year. You won’t want supply disruption around election year, so work with NNPC to build strategic reserves across Nigeria. |
What the government should do is upgrade Band A customers to a new category called Band A+. Customers in Band A+ would be guaranteed 24 hours of uninterrupted power supply and would pay an additional fixed charge—for example, ₦10 per 24-hour cycle—on top of their normal tariff. This fixed charge would only apply if the distribution company actually delivers 24 hours of uninterrupted supply. If they fail to do so, the charge should not apply and should instead roll over. Furthermore, if Band A+ customers experience an outage longer than one hour (excluding faults from the National Grid or TCN), the government should impose penalties on the distribution company—for example, fines of ₦10 million for every hour of outage. Band B customers should be upgraded to Band A, while only Bands C and D should continue to enjoy subsidy temporarily. This will cut the amount of subsidy significantly and cushion the effect of all these economic reforms on the very poor. |
The president has sent a strong message to all Nigerians through this reward that he will actively encourage patriotism. Also, these girls are rewarded for their handwork and dedication. They are not doing adult contents or soiling Nigeria’s name overseas by trafficking drugs, humans or into prostitution rings. We should encourage our children that anytime they make Nigeria proud, we will reward them accordingly and Mr President sent a strong message through the hefty rewards. |
The reward given to the Super Falcons pales in comparison to the immense value their success brings to Nigeria’s global brand image. Sporting achievements on the world stage significantly enhance a country’s reputation, just as football has long shaped Brazil’s global identity. A strong national brand built through sports can attract increased investor interest and open doors for economic opportunities. It can also serve as a powerful icebreaker in meetings between Nigerian business leaders and international counterparts, where shared admiration for Nigeria’s sporting successes fosters trust, familiarity, and stronger business relationships |
Laudable amount. The president is signalling to Nigerians that patriotism is key! |
It shows a black man with tonnes of money and access to best healthcare will live long!! This is what all our ex presidents all have access to. 😔 It also shows Nigeria is a stable country politically, because u generally won’t see 7 current and ex presidents alive in unstable countries. Mad coups and assassinations would have cut short their lives, and I hope Nigeria remains this way. 👍🏿 If we fix our healthcare system, we massively improve our road safety( another biggest killer of Nigerians), we will have more elderly population. |
This vindictive man is doing all these because he wasn’t given the ministerial position. Where was his voice during Buhari’s mismanagement? Vindictive power grabber!! You won’t have it your way. Women in his state were parading naked to stop the endless killings in his state and for 8 years, he didn’t do anything about it. Nigerians will never forget!!!! |
Stolen:I know but u adapt to your client. What about Nigerians without drama who just want a smooth flight? No harm in upgrading staff members via learning. |
datola:Air Peace should always send their crew for customer service training. Learning is and should be continuous. |
Uba Sani has been a remarkable figure. He respects Nigeria’s diversity and promotes religious harmony. If power is to return to the North, it should go to their very best , not to fundamentalists who would shut down schools for six weeks during Ramadan or pursue ideologically regressive agendas that will take Nigeria back again!!! |
I hope this time it’s not just rhetoric but a real step toward actualisation. State policing is long overdue. Efforts should now focus on designing clear safeguards to prevent it from being exploited by state governments against opposition parties. Implementation should be swift. The federal police will still exist serving as a bridge between states but it can be smaller, more agile, and responsive, much like the FBI in the United States. This will also allow the military to focus on more pressing national security tasks. Grassroots security is the most effective kind, as it fosters trust and mutual understanding between law enforcement and the communities they serve. With state policing, many problems can be addressed early , nipped in the bud before they spiral out of control. State or county policing is standard practice across much of the world, and Nigerians should not fear embracing it. If lawmakers can devote six months to a proposed tax reform, they can and should dedicate the same energy to developing a workable, pragmatic framework for state policing. Combined with genuine local government autonomy, this could significantly strengthen security and restore public confidence across the country |
I don’t understand why the cost of the ICC revamp is generating so much controversy. The more relevant question is: aren’t there already primary health centres, schools, and hospitals in Abuja? The rationale behind upgrading the ICC is that it regularly hosts foreign dignitaries, and it should reflect a standard that signals goodwill and seriousness to our international partners. The criticism seems misplaced—revamping the ICC and investing in hospitals and schools are not mutually exclusive. Both can and should be pursued simultaneously. |
SmartPolician:Not true. I believe Tinubu will receive more votes in 2027 than he did in 2023. Back then, many people were uncertain about key aspects of his candidacy, but I think some of those doubts have now been addressed. Over the past two years, his performance has been reasonably strong. We’ve seen bold, necessary—albeit painful—reforms that are already beginning to show potential benefits. If prices come down and security improves in certain regions, he could win by a landslide. Here are some of his key accomplishments so far: 1. Student Loan Scheme (Nelfund) – Making tertiary education more accessible. 2. Exchange Rate Harmonisation – Creating a more transparent and unified currency market. 3. Removal of the Corrupt Fuel Subsidy – Increasing government revenue, particularly at the subnational level. 4. Infrastructure Upgrades – Ongoing improvements in roads, rail, airports, and seaports. 5. Macroeconomic Stability – Efforts to pay off debts and stabilise the economy. 6. Tax Reform – Aiming to expand the tax base and improve compliance. 7. Mini-Grid Deployment to Universities and Teaching Hospitals – Reducing electricity costs, ensuring reliable power, and enhancing the learning environment. 8. National Fibre Optic Rollout (upcoming) – To improve digital connectivity across the country. 9. Mass Rollout of Electricity Metres (ongoing) – A step toward better energy accountability. 10. Legacy Infrastructure Projects – Notable progress on projects like the Lagos-Calabar coastal road. 11. Power Sector Improvements – Some gains in generation, transmission, and distribution, though much work remains. |
Nice gesture. Hopefully, they don’t just make the numbers, and collecting salaries but well trained for their tasks. Training has to be lifelong and not just at the initial stages because threats keep evolving, so should manpower evolve with it. |
2special:“I agree. This is where the DSS and NSA should step in to conduct a forensic analysis of the dead terrorists’ phones. They should hack into the devices, identify their contacts, and map out their networks. This will likely expose additional members—whether hiding in plain sight or operating from forest hideouts. This is what proactive engagement looks like—not waiting until a military barracks is attacked before taking action. Also, infiltrate the communities the terrorists have a stranglehold, have informants around these communities without putting the informants’ lives at risk. |
We all know this is a recurring problem;Nigerian civil servants and military personnel are trained abroad and often fail to return. So why not start bringing overseas to Nigeria instead? We have good hotels these expatriates can lodge in, plus it’s cheaper for government overall. |
This doesn’t make sense. If Ohanaeze is advocating that all candidates be awarded 300 marks regardless of merit, what message are they sending? JAMB exists to identify and select the most qualified students for admission into universities, and any society that values fairness and excellence should uphold those principles. While it is true that there was a technical glitch—an unfortunate and unprofessional occurrence—the appropriate response should be to offer a resit for the affected students, not to undermine the integrity of the entire system. There is no logic in having unqualified Igbos or Yoruba or Hausa anywhere. Society suffers collectively irrespective of ethnicity. |
Even by global standards, the infrastructure and architecture of this school are exceptional. I’ve never seen a school so well-constructed—not in the UK, Europe, or even the USA. The amenities on display are truly impressive; it’s clear that no expense was spared. We should take inspiration from this kind of design when planning our state schools. With thoughtful, creative architecture, excellence can still be achieved within budget. |
I hope this man never becomes president of Nigeria. If a Northerner becomes president again, it has to be the very best, progressive, dynamic and optimistic, not these kinds. These kinds will take us back 100 years, making the world laugh at us, be more racist towards Africans for our inefficiencies, absurdities, etc. |
What is responsible for the mass failure is because there are better, smarter ways to detect and prevent cheating. I hope all Nigerian exams are eventually structured to make cheating virtually impossible. We have the technology; all that’s needed is the willpower to use it. When we reward merit and hard work, society as a whole benefits. We’ll see fewer incompetent individuals in critical roles. Incompetence breeds corruption, so building exam systems that minimize cheating is a vital first step in our fight against corruption. |
This man has taken all of Atiku’s money. Atiku should ask for refund. |
His wife is a naturalised citizen. Deport your wife and in-laws to El Salvador. Deport white naturalised citizens to El Salvador. Elon Musk is naturalised. Let’s hold him to account if people deported to El Salvador aren’t white naturalised criminals. |
If you really want to measure how famous a celebrity is, go to a remote village in Nigeria—or anywhere in the world. Show people pictures of different celebrities and see which one they recognize. My money’s on Michael Jackson |
