While the senator has been objective in his praise, it doesn’t mean the security agencies should rest on their laurels. In fact, they should even do much more because security is continuous. The security agencies should see this positive appraisal as a sign that Nigerians will always appreciate their effort for a job well executed!! Our intel officials should redouble their effort to apprehend suspects even before crimes are committed! God bless Nigeria and Nigerians. 1 Like |

CodeTemplar: It’s not txt book jargon to raise interest rate when inflation rate is high. You want to attract savers!! Less money in circulation, making the value of naira gradually appreciating. 2 Likes |

This is a welcome development. CBN governor is working! Firstly, he formalised BDCs, which they were mostly in support of, and can also get dollars officially from CBN… They would still make profit without having to put strain on Naira because they won’t have any issue with supply of dollars. Give Tinubu time and he will turn Nigeria around. 2 Likes |

Welcome development! I read Minister Umahi’s statement that a rail track would be built between the road? How practical is it, or is it solely to move freights? Also, isn’t there an ongoing project already building a rail track from Lagos to Calabar? Railway infrastructures are under-utilised in Nigeria, and we should harness its potential for both movement of people and goods. Less pressure on the road, which would mean fewer road accidents, reduced police extortion on roads, and fewer road kidnapping. 6 Likes |

tonicyril: Having BDC in a capitalistic economy like ours isn’t an issue but it’s wise to regulate them like the CBN is doing. They should function like proper exchange rate companies like we see in the west, and should have offices and standardised outlets. This would mean that no ordinary person without licenses can trade currencies. It’s a welcome initiative. 1 Like |

Dobodobo04: Exactly and if any claimant has been unfairly treated, take it up with CBN or court. Do you want CBN to be paying claimants without proof? This is why fraud is prevalent in Nigeria. What stops me from also claiming? |

Even if there is still partial subsidy, removing it completely as advised by IMF is unwise because there isn’t a viable substitute. Let’s say electricity is constant, Nigerians can easily switch to electric vehicles and won’t rely on diesel/petrol powered generators for power. IMF really want Nigerians to bite Tinubu. 1 Like |

Sack him and replace him with a top manager that understands our style of football. We have to be quick because we can’t afford to miss out of the World Cup. He is too negative. We can’t string passes together, no creativity, no pace nor possessive football, no cutting edge, just dull to watch. With our natural athleticism, he couldn’t utilise it. His selection and tactics were quite poor. We should get a Dutch, Spanish or even German coach with big pedigree. Jurgen Klopp is a good shout or even his assistance coach if we could pay him.. Assistant coaches of top coaches are also good shouts and affordable. We should also allow any future coach to bring their backroom staff to enable smooth training. |

Why can’t people here read. She was chosen by Board of Directors! What has Tinubu got to do with her appointment? She joined the bank in 2003, 20 years of knowing the inner workings of the bank and people are saying she isn’t qualified? Some of you here are not even up to 20 years. lol She held a top position in the bank prior to this appointment. Banking is not like politics, it rewards competence because all shareholders care about is making profit, so no room for sentiment. Guys, pls use your brain and don’t make everything a tribal issue. 1 Like |

I agree Oyedepo would do a great Job but which party platform is he gonna use to contest? Can he appeal to a broader Nigeria? Is he interested? I have to always advocate for good Nigerians with proven track record to actively join politics because if they don’t, they are encouraging bad actors to be at the helm. He should have a serious talk with Dapo ABIODUN, so they combine and extend the red line to Sango Ota, and maybe Winners can fund the remaining Red Line From Sango Ota to Chruch. Smooth ride for worshippers, less traffic on that road axis, and passenger safety is assured! Our leaders have to start thinking big and start working together. Lagos and Nigeria is changing for better! |

CorrectionFLuid: The minister of power visited a generating power station, and concluded that they don’t have money to buy gas, and some of the turbines are at below capacity. He said the subsidy hasn’t been paid by government to the private generating companies to buy gas. He didn’t really mention anything about transmission. Also, it’s hard to privatise transmission but I do think our transmission infrastructure is underwhelming. I think an agreement is in place with Siemens regarding transmission, but this will take time. The interim solution would be for gov to pay up what is owned, so that the generating firm can buy gas, and operate at convenient capacity. 1 Like |

Good development. When you visit developed countries, there are no squatters under the bridge. It can also constitute criminal activities and the risk of fire. It is folly to build infrastructure worth billions and let it go in flames because of squatters. Another smart way of looking at is that if Lagos transportation improves, there would be less pressure on accommodation in Lagos because people can easily commute from adjoining towns and states around Lagos. Red line is coming onboard, hopefully more in the future. What Lagos can do is start generating its power. 21 Likes 2 Shares |

JB4life: We have a new government and they want illegal oil bunkering to stop. Now, let’s say the allegations are unproven, he continues his job. If the allegations are true, would u still want him in charge ? Forget he is Igbo. Also, President Tinubu from what I’m gathering wants to do a lot for Nigeria, and new infrastructures need money. Minister of works wants more money, he is keen to revamp all our roads and build new 1s. If we keep haemorrhaging 150,000 a day to Illegal bunkering, that’s roughly $12 million a day, and $4.5 billion a year. We can use it to build 2 power station, add 4000-6000 megawatts to our grid. All the thief’s from my ethnic tribe, none of the wealths has benefitted me. |

jayAjoku: So should we let him go because he is from the south if the allegations are true? Oil theft affects all Nigerians, but mostly people in that community than it affects someone in Kano. This is because you get more oil spills, doing further damage to those communities. Illegal bunkering is basically stealing from Nigeria because the revenues go directly to the criminals. Also, such money could go into other criminal activities. Also, the companies legally awarded contracts get disrupted, hence leaving Nigeria. You get loss in revenue because they pay directly into federal coffers. Under Tinubu, every caught criminals, whether you are from north or south will be probed and go jail. |

If laws in Nigeria were strong, you would be in prison and won’t have the chance to beg for forgiveness. Anyways, that time is coming! |

zombieHUNTER:. No need for this! What has it got to do with APC or the president? Osun is PDP governed but that’s not even necessary. No need for gun salute. A normal goodbye is okay. He died because of the overzealous nature of how we sometimes behave in Nigeria. I would arrest the man who ordered the gun salute and charge the bloody fool to court. 1 Like |

If Victor Osimhen can produce a crazy game in our next 3 games, we win the title. The defence has been solid thus far. I hope the injury to the goal keeper isn’t too serious. We need u back. Quick recovery ASAP. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Malroux: Why you Yódę like this? Why would he deep in lagoon for no reason? What kind of copycat mentality is possessing you? |

DeLaRue: You are wrong. It will make a huge difference. CCTV can make you piece together clues. Say the kidnappers kidnapped in the outskirts of Abuja with no CCTV, but suddenly, we found out that one of the kidnapper’s cell phone was active at a petrol station inside Abuja where there is CCTV, we can easily identify vehicles, run number plates, piece together the direction he exited, the time, etc. Also, most kidnappers and robberies are against wealthy people living in the cities. We should not just build them in public places but should incentivise private citizens to install them in their shops, houses, churches, mosques, businesses. Your neighbour’s front camera might be the clue to if you ever get kidnapped. Now, we realising why we need constant electricity in Nigeria. Lack of constant power is itself a security risk. These homes would need power to install them. Overall, gov should install them, and gradually expand their usage. |

Kushites: Realistically, 2 million would gulp huge budget plus entitlements, pensions, etc but we need to jack their numbers up. On your point on foreigners, I see it more as collaboration than reliance. It’s just like Nigerian students going overseas to study. There are new techniques out there to catch up with, and there are bad habits our security forces need to unlearn. I don’t think in Nigeria, we have forensics team or any mode of gathering and preserving evidence, etc. The girl that was captured and killed in Abuja, she was hurriedly buried. Imagine we had forensic unit, we could get some DNA samples of the attackers on her body, use it to build a profile, etc. These foreign countries are ahead in those areas. We need highly trained and disciplined swat teams as well. 1 Like |

9japride: Security issues are complex problems that have festered for decades, from banditry, kidnapping, robbery, ritual killing to ESN secessionist agitators. No magic wand, will take time. I said in the short term, we need more men in the uniform being proactive, and designated around hotspots.. Men in uniform and undercover. There is massive recruitment going on to address shortage of man power. We need all police officers and security outfits lying idle in non-important posts should report to the headquarters for training and redeployment. All hands on deck. Long term, you want them trained together with competent armed forces around the world. It would gulp huge budget, so you need the economy working in tandem as well. Tinubu is just getting comfortable on the seat and I believe is poised to solve it. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Successdude: No need for name calling. Does Obi want to join APC, so he knows what’s going on? Why did Obi leave PDP after almost 15 years? He walked away simply because he knew he won’t get the presidential nomination ticket. The so called reasonable option won’t even show loyalty to his party when self interest beckoned. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Release a convicted policeman that is wanted by USA to solve security issues and call the current administration a joke? This man was captured on camera taking money from drug dealers and yahoo boys and you want him released and back policing? |

Obi, what’s your business? The relationship between the President and Vice is their business, and you shouldn’t come in because you don’t know the dynamics. Security issues will be solved, and we need new approaches, from surveillance to modern intelligence gathering and preemptive arrests. We need foreign partners, modern armed force with the best training, new reorientation, modern gadgets and how to use it, etc. Obviously, quicker things can be done like regular patrols around hotspots, etc. You don’t need to run your mouth and delegate how a government you are not part of ought to run. 13 Likes 3 Shares |

I created this topic because Niger and Nigeria get mixed up when described by their adjectives; Nigerian and Nigerien. Do you think Nigeria should change its name for branding purpose to avoid the mix ups? If you support the notion, what name would you suggest? Eledumare is my choice. Beautiful sounding and Yoruba word for God. Inawutaoku…..Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo word for fire. Every Nigerian has a burning passion |

This is actually a must win game, because if we manage to top the group, our pathway to semis will be a lot easier. Ireland shouldn’t be taken with levity as they might not want to go home empty-handed. I also want us to avoid England because they do have a good and pragmatic coach. Overall, our coach should stay on message. Be humble, train hard and keep your defensive compactness. With a little bit of more offensive training drills and ball retention, we could surprise a few people. Go on falcons!!!!! 6 Likes 1 Share |
