PoliticsRe: Bresson’s ₦180Bn Magboro Power Plant Start, Signs Power Purchase Pact With IBEDC by RhinoChest:
Power sector is becoming more lucrative because of rise in tariff. I know most Nigerians don’t like the hike in tariff and I feel their pain but you need private sectors to come in and invest.

All what Adelabu should do now if he is smart is ensure the metering gap is gone. It’s not a difficult task to achieve. It would incentivise Discos to supply more power if they want more money because estimated billing would be gone.

Also, Adelabu, improve the national grid and make it more robust. Regional grids should start in earnest.

No more excuses!! Excuses are for the weak minded.

Godfullsam:
Did I hear you say 'rail is cheaper'?

Come again...
ECOWAS intend to spend $15 billion on this project.

Okay let’s do the maths.

Lagos to Abidjan is 990 kilometres at $15 billion cost.

I think it could be more, depending on the lanes, obstacles and maintenance over time.

Mombasa to Nairobi rail cost $3.6 billion and distance covered is 592 kilometres

Lagos to Abidjan should be around $7.2 billion.

You can build 5 stations to begin with.

Lagos > Cotonou> Lome>Accra>Abidjan.
PoliticsRe: Abidjan-Lagos Highway Project Funding Won't Be Delayed — ECOWAS by RhinoChest: 3:49pm On Sep 25, 2024
They should build a rail line instead of road.

Rail is cheaper, faster and safer.

Lagos to Abidjan can be 8-12 hour via fast rail.

Road is harder to maintain and manage.

In 21st century, speed is key!!

Why is the pms only for NNPC? That means NNPC will be the middlemen here.
Something is not clear here
U are not thinking smart. If NNPC isn’t middleman, and Dangote decides to sell to marketers directly, u might probably be buying a litre at N1650.

If you buy at N1650/L, u be complaining about Tinubu bla bla.

Subsidy will still be paid to Dangote but in crude, which makes excellent sense.

Gradually, importation will end, and forex will be saved.

I hope they keep it this way to ensure steady supply.

PoliticsRe: His First Lagos Redline Train Trip by RhinoChest: 12:43pm On Sep 08, 2024
This is awesome. The red line train coaches look more like interstate coaches than light rail.

I’m sure what LAMATA has in store is to donate these coaches to NRC and get a much nimbler light rail coaches like that of the blue line to ply the red line route.

Also, they should make it electric, as it will certainly deter people from crossing the tracks.

Overall, very good initiative!!! I hope they have funds to finish other remaining lines.
PoliticsRe: Delta Directs Worship Centres, Schools To Install CCTVs, Threatens Jail Term by RhinoChest: 12:26pm On Sep 08, 2024
NASS upon resumption should pass it into law that all public places; schools, universities, shopping malls, mosques, churches, markets, filling stations should have a working CCTV around their premises.

Also, all cars in Nigeria should be insured before they can be registered. This measure will reduce road accidents and save lives.

Insurance companies should then mandate dash cam and trackers before vehicles can be insured.

This will ensure kidnappings and road crimes can be captured by any approaching vehicles and swiftly passed to law enforcement agencies.
PoliticsRe: High Electricity Tariff Will Kill Businesses – APC Chieftain, Joe Igbokwe Cries by RhinoChest: 11:51am On Sep 08, 2024
While I understand Mr Igbokwe’s complaint, I do believe that the infrastructures around electricity will only get better if the tariff is market-reflective.

It’s no coincidence that since tariff has gone up, Genco’s have ramped up production and we want that trend to continue.

Also, gov is struggling to pay subsidy, which would mean more debt and poor infrastructure around electricity.

Once the super grid are on board, and metering gap is reduced, you would see more liquidity in the market, which would mean more competition, thereby lowering cost in the long run.

Mr President should tell oil importers to use their huge capital to transition into becoming Gencos, as electricity industry is going through a revolution and will be awash with liquidity very soon. They should let local refineries thrive.

NNPC just announced they are about to build a new power plant. This signals that increase in electricity tariff is already attracting investors.

State police is the next disaster waiting to happen to Nigeria.
It won’t be a disaster. It’s long overdue.

Some states will manage it better than other states but at least, your security is in your hands.

Only things to guard against are
1) unauthorised used by govs against enemies and opposition

2) Minorities of each states should be protected and should enjoy all constitutional benefits just like majorities.

3) issue of funding.
PoliticsRe: Kidnappers Kill Daughter, Release Mother After ₦‎10 Million Ransom In Ekiti by RhinoChest: 1:59pm On Sep 05, 2024
National Assembly upon resumption should fast track state police.

Senator Bamidele should visit the USA and other developed countries about the modularities and the design of how it ought to be, and come up with a proposal that could work for Nigeria. He should ask questions and design it in such way that state govs can’t use it against their opposition or their perceived enemies.

The Federal police will still exist, but they will be small and nimble, more or less like a linchpin between states, like US’s FBI.

This current security arrangement isn’t fit for purpose.

Gombe Gov said with state police, he can end insecurities within months. Zamfara Gov echoed similar sentiments saying with state police, he will end banditry in 2 weeks.

I hope we get it before September next year.

We can’t be throwing lives away like flies. Enough is Enough.

That man is very incompetent.

List of failures and broken promises under him:

1) By Dec 2023, he said Port harcourt refineries will be working, now we are in Sept, nothing after billions of Dollars spent.

2) OB3 pipeline he promised by August, now we are in Sept.

3) AKK pipeline, we don’t even know the update thus far.

4) Lies about NNPC’s finances, frustrating local refineries, non-supply of adequate crude to local fineries, favouring importation of petrol and no working labs to check quality of imported PMS, etc.

Arsenal would have been a good fit but don’t know why it didn’t happen.

Osimhen, we love you, be humble, be a good team player and hopefully a club that loves and appreciates you will come for you.

It’s not good to use social media to criticise people you disagree with. Always let your football talk for you, and you will see people fight your fight.

If you have a bad boy label, other clubs might stay away from you, because they don’t want you bringing that attitude to their dressing room.

New DSS boss, if you’re thinking of how to end kidnapping in Nigeria, here are a few ideas.

1) Have portals and ways Nigerians can anonymously tip off security operatives with full confidentiality. If specific numbers can be called, make them such that Nigerians can divulge information without putting themselves at risk. Eg, allow unregistered sim access to call security operatives only, and can be thrown away after.

2) Offer rewards and bounties to people that provide crucial info anonymously. A code might be sent to their unregistered sim, whereby they can use it to access their rewards at ATMs.

3) Have ordinary Nigerians as informants and on your payroll. Lecturers, Chiefs, landlords, Hotel managers, Bank managers, pastors, Imams, etc never allow your agency’s sloppiness put their lives at risk.

4) Always have surveillance teams on ground across Nigeria.

5)Hire ex kidnappers who have served their time as informants. This has to be done with professional orientation and training.

6) Once various infos are coming in, set up trained operatives to carry out surveillance.

7) Have specialist task force that can conduct raids before these criminals strike!!

PoliticsRe: Consumers Lament As Electricity Meter Prices Rise by RhinoChest: 10:44am On Sep 01, 2024

I’m not feeding from it but they are making slight improvements.

We all know metering is key to make this sector blossom and few days ago, BPE signed meter contracts with the manufacturers.

If 2 million customers get metered this year, we are only have 5 million customers to go, so that’s progress.

Also, TCN has ongoing projects and they are relentless at getting them completed.

Debts are being paid to Gencos and their gas infrastructures are being upgraded. OB3 pipeline is nearing completion, even Dangote is excited about it because it will take gas from east to west, and to power stations that need gas. AKK is also about to be completed, and both are game changers.

Geregu power signed agreement with Siemens for more turbines and wants to expand.

Transcorp power pays dividends. All these are signs that the industry is growing.

Forget the politics and always follow the money.

Once uninterrupted liquidity starts to flow in the power sector, you will see uninterrupted power supply!!!

It’s not rocket science and it’s that simple!!
PoliticsRe: Consumers Lament As Electricity Meter Prices Rise by RhinoChest: 8:37am On Sep 01, 2024
I think the next phase is mass metering which the Minister of Power said is about to take effect.

2 million meters a year, which is being finalised.

But fellow Nigerians, if we want good things, we should be ready to pay for it.

I think if the infrastructure gets robust enough to make light constant and uninterrupted, prices overall will come down but could take some years.

Minister of power, keep working. 6,000 MW by December and do a road to 12,000 MW by Dec Next year.

TCN ought to work harder to complete their projects, make it more robust with bigger evacuation carrying capacity and safeguard it.

They should tell NASS to pass a vandalism act if none exist, and have some security operatives deployed to guard their critical assets, and they pay the security operatives from their budget. The security operatives will get specialised training in surveillance, patrols, aerial reconnaissance and to use deadly force on vandals caught in the act.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s $1Trillion Economy Target Under Tinubu Impossible – Rewane by RhinoChest: 9:21am On Aug 31, 2024
I won’t call it impossible if certain matrix can be reached sooner. So how can it jump to a trillion collar economy in the next 5 years?

1) Massive investment in oil and gas, in essence, we do at least 2.5/3 million barrels a day. Gas infrastructure is currently being improved across the country. It should be available to homes and industries and should be exported. The Nigeria/Morocco pipeline to Europe should start in earnest.

2) Grow our exports, make the process seamless and simple by investing in our seaports. Cocoa potential is huge.

3) We control inflation by bringing the cost of energy down, and making it available to all. We should also improve on the fiscal aspect. We need taxes to go up slightly, and even. This would appreciate the value of Naira and boost government spending; which are needed to build and upgrade critical infrastructures across the country.

4) Enhance security across the country to attract foreign investment, cut red tapes and reduce corruption.

5) Make training and acquisition of new skills seamless. Adult education is key.
PoliticsRe: NNPCL To Hand Over Warri, Kaduna Refineries To Private Operators by RhinoChest: 1:56pm On Aug 30, 2024
Step in the right direction.

The PortHarcourt refinery is being excluded because I’m guessing NNPCL would want ownership of it.

Problem now is if there will be available crude to keep them going.

FG should target 3 million barrels a day within the next 24 months.

2 million for export and 1 million for local refineries to sell locally and export.

Highly unrealistic but the quickest way to boost FG’s revenue.

De la fuente was an academy coach who had success bringing through the bulk of players that won that euros
Deschamps was a double ligue 1 winner as a coach and took As Monaco to a UCL Final
Koeman won the Eredivisie when it was tougher to win

Prime coaches avoid national jobs due to the long breaks between matches
Deschamps to me is so-so, likewise Koeman. The reason I said that is because both coaches should be achieving way more if you consider the talents at their disposal.
SportsRe: NFF Appoints Bruno Labbadia New Super Eagles Head Coach by RhinoChest: 8:46pm On Aug 27, 2024
To people saying he isn’t top class coach, most National team coaches aren’t always the best except they are from countries with top football league.

Top coaches are usually in hot demand and would rather manage clubs than National Teams.

Let’s start with Gareth Southgate, ex England coach
He didn’t win anything prior to his English job, yet managed England and got them into 2 European finals.

The Spanish coach that won the euros for Spain was managing the under 21s. If you check Luis De La Fuente’s prior record, it wasn’t too impressive either.

If you check Didier Deschamps record before the French role, they weren’t to impressive either. Yet, he won the World Cup and has been in 3 major finals.

Even the Dutch coach, Koeman; good player but hasn’t had any managerial success.

I’m surprised Nigeria was able to pull it off. Congrats to the NFF and sport Ministers.

Now, pay him, give him all the supports he needs.

No interference of any kind, and allow him to bring whomever he is comfortable to work with as assistant.

Pay players on time, let them train with the best facilities during International call ups, and watch them soar high.

Labbadia is experienced, has managed in top tier German league and has adaptable tactics that would suit the Super Eagles.

AgricultureRe: Food Crisis: Army Deploys Officers To Protect Farmers In The North by RhinoChest: 3:08pm On Aug 19, 2024
We need the army, police, and NDDC deployed to protect the farmers across the country.

Liaise with the farmers, always having personnel on guard to protect them and their livelihoods.

The army should do mobile patrols, have numbers the farmers can call 24/7, and provide round the clock security for the farmers.

There should be a dedicated task force, with a tagged operation name.

Airforce can also join in the operation to provide aerial reconnaissance, and warm army about any approaching trouble makers.

Also, all Naval officers,I dont care what rank you are, should be deployed to all our oilfields.

All hands should be on deck. No personnel should be allowed to sit in offices. All our military outfits should be on the field.

If we improve security of farmers, train them in simple security measures and secure our oilfields, Tinubu govt might turn the corner.

Also, allow import of all kinds of food to flood in without tariff for 6 months. Don’t put any restraint on it like the customs officer just announced.

It’s daft to put current restraints on importation of food when people are hungry.

Let food flood the market, that will buy you time for your policies to work, then bring back tariffs after 6 months.

The professor isn’t patriotic. You can’t and shouldn’t use protest to throw out a democratically elected government. Who would take over the mess when you do? Unelected tyrants?

Do you think the government you’ve just thrown out would just go out quietly?

Also, comparing Bangladesh to Nigeria is folly. The president there has been in power for donkey years. In the 15 years Sheikh Hasina has been in power, Nigeria has had 4 presidents and 4 elections.

I think Tinubu can do better with the handling of the economy but let’s give him time.

If by 2027 if he doesn't meet our expectations, he can be thrown out.
Also, don’t forget there are Nigerians with higher ambitions to govern Nigeria in 2027 already scheming and planning to challenge Tinubu.

Makes sense and LG elections should always be before state elections. So chairmen and council wards are elected and seated before state gov elections.

It would make state governors powerless over them, and let the election be conducted federally by INEC.
