NwaAmaikpe:Dude. It’s step by step. The others you referring to also got there in stages. You can’t have functional ambulance if roads are in bad shape. |
Loyal minister and very arduous at his job. If the rest of the ministers can be like him, Nigerians will be proud globally. |
I have always thought the smartest Nigerians should join DSS and other security intelligence agencies but they shouldn’t be compelled. First class students will be given priority but should not be forced to join. If you want to attract the smartest, offer the best financial packages with great working conditions. What DSS should do is have a graduate scheme where only first class students will be eligible to apply. They should then write an assessment test that basically test logic and IQ. Those with top scores should then be trained both locally and abroad in all sorts of security and operational tasks. We need the smartest Nigerians at DSS. We basically need them to think outside the box, be mentally agile and adaptive. They should be the best because they will have to ensure terrorists and criminal organisations, both domestic and foreign are exposed and apprehended. |
Sometimes, our security operatives are too eager to show results without being thorough with their investigations. What stops customs from collaborating with DSS to know where the weapons are heading to, so culprits are rooted out from stem? All involved are arrested, including the terrorist organisations it’s going to. |
I hope no money is spared and this airport is built to world class standard. If it gets operational, I would demolish Murtala Airport, sell the land to developers and they convert it to a beautiful estate, having all kinds of amenities like parks, gyms, libraries, etc. |
bewisemasses:Rubbish. Nigeria has moved past the likes of El-Rufai. Tinubu doesn’t care if you are opposition as long as you don’t deliberately sabotage government. No one forgives that, not even international communities. Under El-Rufai’s watch, security situations in Kaduna worsened under his leadership. Why would you govern a state and can’t guarantee the safety of lives and property of the people you swore with the holy book to protect ? President Tinubu should just forge ahead with diligence and hard work, ensuring all the ministers are kept on their toes daily and I see him succeeding come 2027. |
He has sons and daughters that will protest and fight. I’m sure they are of age. Does anyone know where they are? Are they enjoying daddy’s loot overseas or in Nigeria? We need them to lead protest. |
SmartPolician:Strength is making peace reign, not destroying peace. Just any brave coward idiot might throw fire into a building but it takes a strong man to build the house. Why is it that all major powers we queue in their embassies have democracy and stable government? Anyway, u speaking like a teenager. |
To everyone who always wish a President or leader should have indefinite tenure, Kagame is a case study against it. Putin another example. Why support rebel just to facilitate your own personal interests? Congo is already a fragile country, and this will add further carnage to the people. To Nigerians thinking Nigeria is bad, just look at Congo situation. With peace, just about any form of progress is imaginable. |
In my earlier post, when Nelfund was passed into law, I suggested students that gain admission into medical schools, from Doctors to Nurses ought to be given scholarships, people said it discriminates other courses. If we keep losing our doctors to other countries, we might as well incentivise students, so we produce even more. Yes, improve paying and working conditions but churn out even more doctors. I would freely give medical students N2,000,000/annum towards their education. Upon becoming a doctor, they don’t have to pay it back, they just have to practice in Nigeria for 5 years. Also, private universities like Covenant University should be encouraged to have medical colleges for doctors and nurses. |
I think every outposts, especially remote outposts like this one should have a risk assessment evaluation as to what the options could be if assaulted and what the response should be when attacked. 1) Fortification: Say our troops are occupying a remote outpost prone to terrorist attacks, first and foremost thing the Nigerian Military ought to do is fortify such buildings to withstand any direct attacks and give time for the military to return fire. If an abandoned school is being used as outpost nothing wrong with that but some engineer corp should go out, modify the building to offer protection in case of any direct attacks. 2) Back up: Why would you post military operatives to zones prone to attacks and not have ways they can call for back up at moment’s notice? Every of our active outposts should have back ups and reinforcements within minutes. Outpost A should be able to assist outpost B within minutes. It should all be rehearsed daily. If outpost A and B are simultaneously being attacked, there should be outpost C that ought to come to their aid!!!! There could also be mobile brigades that could shuttle between outposts. 3) Air Support: You don’t even need fighter jets, all you need are helicopter gunships that could get to outposts under attack within minutes and repel any attack. While repelling the attacks, ground reinforcements could further aid in repelling the attacks. Two gunships and the third helicopter dropping additional manpower could be all that is needed before more troops arrive. You don’t need huge budget, all that’s needed are proper coordination and training with the limited resources at our military’s disposal. Also, there should be cheap drones that could always fly above all our outposts day and nights that can provide advance warning on any impending attack to both the outpost and command and control to send back ups. |
JAWBONE:I don’t think the current tax system favours any region per se. It’s old and needs revival. Any president after Tinubu would be glad to have it, as it will boost income, become a fiscal tool to regulate inflation, instead of ever relying on monetary policies and CBN to stabilise inflation. |
ElSudani:No need pouring gov money into it though. Let private firm take it on with government support. If it’s viable, private firms will take it on. |
surgical:Your analysis isn’t smart nor economically sound. You are aware you need forex to prop up your currency if you peg it to dollar. Imagine your forex is dwindling due to; A) Low oil output because the previous gov didn’t do much to raise output or bring new investment into the sector. B) The little forex you have, you returning it back to the owners because you paying subsidy. C) Lots of debt accrued, to both service debt and meet other financial obligations. Even if you want to peg your currency, where would you turn to bring in more forex? What this government has done is smart. Oil production is up, subsidy is gone, so they have more money going to states and for projects. They plugged the leakages and raised the revenue. If oil output goes up together with other exports at quick rate, we should see the value of naira rising, and the rise at this moment in time will be sustainable, stable and long term without any costly intervention from Central bank. Once naira appreciates, fuel prices at the pump will go down, and you should be seeing inflation easing. Right now, government is at the right path. |
Nice!!! Neighbours helping neighbours. How it ought to be and not someone coming from nowhere trying to sow division and hate!!! Kudos Mexico!!! Mexico’s very best coming to the rescue!!! |
I’m not the biggest fan of Minister of Power but there have been slight improvements. Just because money was released doesn’t usually mean there will be instant fixes. It takes time for the money borrowed to be released and takes time for procurements to arrive. What can be done? 1) The metering gap should be closed ASAP. If we believe the minister on his promise that 1 million meters will arrive before March, that’s good news. Meters will increase revenue, ensure Disco’s obligations to Gencos and TCN are met, and incentivise Discos to only maximise their profits by either supplying more electricity or expanding their market. Because estimated billing will be eliminated under mass metering program, only way for discos to make money is to supply more electricity to customers. If everyone is metered, the government can save money by pulling out of electricity subsidy all together. Just by that simple action, TCN will have robust capital to invest in their infrastructure and more Gencos will come on board. There will also be hostile takeovers of Discos by even better companies in Nigeria or overseas once a steady and convenient flow of revenues through metering is guaranteed. 2) TCN has been proactive and committed to improving their infrastructure and the minister should ensure they do even more. They need to transmit in large volumes with stable frequency so that we don’t experience collapse. They should also have a private security apparatus that will guard their infrastructure in conjunction with the Nigerian security forces. Once those two things are in place in the short run, we should see major improvements. Also, we need to check on NNPCL on how the Ob3-gas pipeline and AKk projects are going. We heard it will be completed in August 2024, and since then, no news yet. Gencos will even have more gas, all they need to add more megawatt to national grid are turbines and we get even greater power!! |

We need Nigerian students taught more maths, science, technology and philosophy not rubbish “life success”… It’s broad, undefined, and shallow. Teach a child reasoning skills, skills that will make them think outside the box, find solutions to complex problems , encourage creativity and curiosity. Skills that will make smart enough not to fall into traps of deceitful charlatans and cunning folks. Skills that encourages teamwork and cooperation. With these skills, life success will follow. |
I do applaud President Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure upgrades across the country. Festus Keyamo has been a real gem. What they however need to get rid of with immediate effect are immigration officers begging for money. It should be a sackable offence!!! Kemi Nandap should ensure it ends for good. Imagine foreigners coming to Nigeria and their first impression are immigration officers begging for money, highly unprofessional!!!! Get rid of the bad eggs, pay them well with generous entitlement, up skill them if necessary and ensure that practice ends forever!!! |
She looks very Nigerian. She doesn’t need to do that ancestry DNA. U could tell by looking at her that her ancestors are from Nigeria. I however do disagree with her strong stance , particularly her staunch support for Trump and crazy MAGA. |
I really don’t get NFF anymore. What kind of appointment is this ?Do these people even watch Football Nigeria mustn’t miss out of this World Cup!! This World Cup is in USA for goodness sake!!! A way to showcase Nigeria to the world!!!!Also, because the World Cup gets watched by billions of people worldwide, federal government will get cheap publicity for investors and people to talk about Nigeria globally if we qualify and do well at the tournament. Travelling outside Nigeria, once I make it known I’m Nigerian, foreigners will talk glowingly about Kanu, Jay-Jay and you strike a bond, which can lead to friendship, business contracts, trust, etc. Minister of Sports, pls look into this and make sure we get a coach of high calibre because NFF are bunch of clueless incompetent folks that can’t run a poultry farm. |
If you have unsold stock, reduce your prices. You can’t blame unsold stock on anyone. Unsold stock is a worldwide phenomenon. Reduce price kpatakpata and u will at least get something. |
I know people are going through a lot in Nigeria but just wanting to leave without knowing where you would be taken to isn’t the answer. Iraq of all places I hope the government really improve the lives of the people. The situation is getting critical!!! All tiers of government should get to work!! |
They also promised electricity generation will be 6,000 MW by December. Adelabu promised it, minister of finance also reiterated it. Another promise failure. Procurement of electricity meters. Nigeria borrowed $500 million dollars from World Bank. Yet to materialise!! Also could someone verify if the OB-3 gas pipeline due to be completed August 2024 still ongoing or abandoned? Kyari made August 2024 completion date. |
Why would you not need a friend like France, a major player in global sphere? I know most francophone countries are reexamining the relationship, but that doesn’t mean we can’t utilise it to our benefits. We export to them, we want the return of Peugeot, we want some of their military hardwares, we want their expertise in Agriculture, etc. They want our solid minerals and they think we are essential partner in the fight against terrorism and illegal migration to Europe. In international politics, have as many friends as you can. Nothing is personal, it’s strictly self interest and business. |
This is where u would think Nigeria’s secret services like DSS should step in, and make a scapegoat of the vandals. They should be arrested before they are allowed to vandalise. |
This should show ministers and politicians that if they do good works, Nigerians will remember and commend them. Wike shouldn’t just concentrate on roads but also on schools, hospitals, firefighting, sanitation, drainage. Etc. Abuja could have the first recycling/ waste to power facilities in Nigeria, as a model to other states. Wastes are recycled based on different protocols and environmentally well disposed of. |
That’s almost $400 million. Not a bad amount if well spent. |
Meti99:This is the problem with Nigeria. We praise mediocrity, so we get below average results and wonder why Nigeria is in mess. Power grid shouldn’t collapse in the first instance. Tinubu is reluctant to sack failing ministers and I don’t know why. You won’t get good performance from anyone who isn’t afraid of losing his job. |
I hope Lagos state government can pull it through. Instead of building fourth mainland bridge, this makes more sense. Electricity generated and sold to Lagosians means Lagos state government can even use it to generate revenue from the initial stages, and they will make their money back. Lagosians will have access to unlimited power supply, businesses will boom, more taxable income, more money to finance other projects. Sanwo-Olu, make this happen and you will etch your name in the stars. |
mannobi:It’s corruption taking place. Lots of personal egos and self interest over the country’s interest. NNPC is a cesspit of corruption. |
Let’s start electric vehicles revolution. Install solar powered charging cables in places across Abuja. We should support electric vehicles/plug-in hybrid in conjunction with CNG. |
