Another problem with Africans is the fact that we prefer entertainment than true knowledge and enlightenment. You see, threads like this will hardly make FP.... But just check, once it's about a celebrity or the picture of a n*de lady, within seconds you will find it on the front page. |

Today's meditation.. Extract of yesterday's gospel reading... Jesus said to the Pharisees, ‘There was a rich man who used to dress in purple and fine linen and feast magnificently every day. And at his gate there lay a poor man called Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed to fill himself with the scraps that fell from the rich man’s table. Dogs even came and licked his sores. Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. ‘In his torment in Hades he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off with Lazarus in his bosom. So he cried out, “Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames.” “My son,” Abraham replied “remember that during your life good things came your way, just as bad things came the way of Lazarus. Now he is being comforted here while you are in agony. May Gid help us so that we won't be so engrossed in what we have that we fail to recognize the suffering of our neighbors. A wonderful week ahead. |
Kamsified:You just dey do on and off like NEPA. Before I forget.... Salc, abeg call roster.... U knw say Oct devotion is close at hand. |
Today's meditation.... Words of St Vincent de Paul... We should strive to keep our hearts open to the sufferings and wretchedness of other people, and pray continually that God may grant us that spirit of compassion which is truly the spirit of God. In all we do, we should never forget the importance of prayer in our daily activities. |
In this recession, guys hardly ask girls out. |
abnot:Plz, wch unit wia u employed to. |
Today's meditation.... Words of St Vincent de Paul When you are called from your prayers or the Eucharistic celebration to serve the poor, you lose nothing, since to serve the poor is to go to God. You must see God in the faces of the poor. It is our duty to prefer the service of the poor to everything else and to offer such service as quickly as possible. If a needy person requires medicine or other help during prayer time, do whatever has to be done with peace of mind. Offer the deed to God as your prayer…. Charity is certainly greater than any rule. Moreover, all rules must lead to charity. The message is simple.... Charity should be your number one priority in your spiritual, physical and "emotional" life. At all times, as long as you have the capability, no matter how little, you shouldn't shy away or give reason for not doing the work of charity. Don't say you are late to Mass, don't say it's your offering/tithe money, dont say you are in prayer.... An act of charity is technically not supposed to be proposed. Imagine if the good Samaritan didn't turn up in the parable told by Christ and the wounded man died afterwards. How would you feel if you were to be among those that passed the wounded man without helping him, then you get to hear the news about his death...? Food for thought. Good morning friends... |
SalC:I no knw weda she don divorce me.... I never see her for long. ![]() |
Today's meditation.... Words of St Vincent de Paul to his congregation. You will find out that Charity is a heavy burden to carry, heavier than the kettle of soup and the full basket. But you will keep your gentleness and your smile. It is not enough to give soup and bread. This the rich can do. You are the servant of the poor, always smiling and good-humored. They are your masters, terribly sensitive and exacting master you will see. And the uglier and the dirtier they will be, the more unjust and insulting, the more love you must give them. It is only for your love alone that the poor will forgive you the bread you give to them. The last sentence sums up the reason why no matter the little things we have, no matter the scenario that hinder us from performing the act of charity..... We should never relent in helping our masters, the needy. A wonderful day to you all. |
Today's meditation..... Words from St Theresa of Calcutta We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty. In yesterday's meditation, is was said that nothing should hinder us from performing the works of charity. But I was left wondering, what if someone doesn't have the resource to help the needy, how then can he perform the act of charity every day. Today, St Theresa has thrown the option wide open such that even in a state of "nothingness" one still have what it takes to help one another. The smile on your face, the beautiful words that comes out from your mouth, the little things we can do to put a smile on another's face, taking out your time to help a brother/neighbor with his little chores.... The options are truly wide... We pray today that through the intercession of St Theresa, we may have the zeal and energy to show love to our brethren..... Morning friends..... |
Syncan:lol..... This her title is one of a kind. |
Today's meditation.... Words from Pope Francis.... How marvellous it would be if, at the end of the day, each of us could say: today I have performed an act of charity towards another! Help one another always. One another. In this way, by helping one another, we will do some good. The message is simple. As Christians, it is one of our top priority to help one another. In the time of Christ, He broke the rules of Sabbath day because of an act of charity. This goes to show that, there should be no excuse for barrier that will stop us from helping one another. Morning friends... |

Today's meditation.... Extract from a talk by St Vincent de Paul Extend your mercy towards others, so that there can be no one in need whom you meet without helping. For what hope is there for us if God should withdraw His Mercy from us? In the old testament, it was said that there will always be people who are in need.... So it's our duty to help them... So also, there will always be people who "have" to give to the needy. If you fall into the divide of those that "have", do not hesitate to act accordingly..... May God in His mercies bless us with the resource to help the need... |
Our meditation for today will be an extract from today's first reading... My son, do not refuse a kindness to anyone who begs it, if it is in your power to perform it. Do not say to your neighbour, ‘Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow’, if you can do it now. St Vincent de Paul always tells us that we ought to help when we see the gap to feel and not when the person comes begging. Just as it's more easier to do a job on your own, than when you are sent to do it. Same way, it's more joyful to help the needy when you identify one than when the person comes begging.... We pray that through the intercession of Vincent de Paul, we may be able to identify an opportunity to help the poor.... |
Sorry brethren... My comment was blocked yesterday and the spam bot blocked me for 24hrs.... So I couldn't repost the meditation yesterday... |

Novena to St Vincent de Paul..... Starting today 18th to 26th December..... Happy Sunday brethren.... |
Not surprised.... My friend whose uncle works in one of the north western states was telling me how the state govt through its commissioner for agriculture shared among themselves millions of nairas that FG recently sent to the state as intervention funds for farmers.... Most of the money are now kept as fixed deposit while some used theirs to buy properties.... Then one begins to wonder how come our farmers are still using hoes with all the monies that FG share to them.... I really pity this country.... |
NotGej:So, U don't knw dat most of the senior managers target are scaled in profit and not in value..... His branch is in a very good location in Lagos.... So, d branch makes more than that on monthly basis. |
Oga OP... Before you conclude, you could have done some research.... Those big shot, in some banks are the business drivers..... Though it seems like they don't do any when you walk into their office. But alot is in their head. I know of a senior manager who is a branch head of a new generation bank. He has a personal target of 100mil monthly and a branch target of 200mil.... He has to achieve that in other to solidify his stay in the bank. It's not all that easy for them. Believe me, if you are a junior staff and you introduce a good business to the bank, no body will want to terminate your job, that's if you were not promoted.... Truth be told, the bank spends a whole lot of money on the senior managers, but they pay back in one way or the other. |
