Today, there are numerous aspects embedded in this field. There is the food biochemistry that studies to the latter, the composition of food. They give in concrete form, the type of carbohydrate, protein, fat etc that are present in such food. The food analyst carry out proximates to ensure that the consumer gets what he really is paying for. The food nutritionist are those who formulate diets using local raw materials. They also help to curb the issue of food insecurity. Also there is the food microbiologist who studies each food properties, their agent of spoilage, and provides a preservation means. The food technologist that designs machine using the appropriate material as regards to the type of food. There also is the food biotechnologist who are also called genetic engineers. They manipulate the genes of crops to obtain a desired trait in such product. Other sub-divisions include, food engineering, food physics, sensory evaluation, product development, food marketing and so on. The major focus in this field is to help in having a food secured nation by reducing spoilage in our crops, creating variety of processed food using these crops, providing means of preservation and the rest. We don't get much attention as other field of study, but in our own way, we are making this country a better place. So school children, follow your heart. Medicine, engineering and the rest aint the only science field. Do researches and come up with self made reasons to be who you wanna be. Parents, pls let your children decide what they wanna be. Just guide them. Thanks.

I think its high time Nigeria embraces the issue of food biotechnology. Incase you don't know what it is, its simply the creation of better crops that would withstand whatever hazard its natural one cannot. The issue of food biotech or genetics is currently a sensitive one. Some african countries have embraced laws binding this act. Although Nigeria has an institute of biotech, they still aint doing enough in that area. Food genetics helps in the fight against food insecurity as it seeks way to curb the issue of food spoilage. It has so many gains than losses. Or what do yah think?

It isn't the work of NAFDAC to follow up on processings as such. They do random sampling of goods. Wat happened to u cud either be that u bought an adulterated good or even still bought a good that probably had error in the production wic usually happens once in a while. But I'm of the opinion dat its adulterated. One of my lecturers once told us of a situation where he bought eva wine only to discover that it was a pure zobo drink with the leaves still inside. Hello. Happy new year. Really, ur reply is very much appreciated. It isn't too early to choose. As a matter of fact, I am in my 4th year. I'd love to be involved in academic research. I would also wanna opt in being a lecturer as soon as I grad. I tink food microbiology or human nutrition would be my major. I don't really know much bout biotech. All I know is its relation to genetic engineering as a means to produce finer and superb food products. Wishing u the best in this new year.
