Which States are u referring to...hope those u mentioned that got resources to harness? oil producing state that enjoy 13% are even suppressed by FG.

every Tom, Dick and Harry now talks true federalism like say Nigeria can't exist without it. Have we bothered to consider why the so called true federalism failed after the first Republic? The problem with Nigeria has always been the implementation of true constitutionalism. Dat a nation is heterogeneous doesn't mean dat unitary system won't be ideal for it. Federalism works in America doesn't mean it will work in Nigeria. If Nigeria must remain as one sovereign entity den take it from me dat federalism is neva our panacea. Just imagine wen we adopt true federalism as envisaged in theory books, of which I doubt any state, even America is not practicing, what becomes the fate of very economical backward states like Ebonyi, Gombe, Jigawa, et al? Who will augment their meagre economy? In actuality, what Nigeria needs is economic diversification and adequate utilisation of our national potentials. Wen, let's say for instance, the Northern groundnut pyramid is revived, the eastern palm eldorado revived, the western cocoa revived, and other untapped resources maximally utilised, we would av more than excess income to go round and meet needs. But corruption over time has killed Nigeria and everyone now sings true federalism like it's the real solution. For the fact, true federalism begets secessionism. How many multicultural societies in the world practice true federalism? Rather it's adviced u adapt a system to suit ur peculiarities and societal preferences. Rather than true federalism, my advice is a disintegrated Nigeria, because we can't manage d negations of confederalism called true federalism.
All these aren't working for us na... even ur solutions will only help if true federalism is practiced. let states that have other natural resources develop them with little interference from FG. if u keep feeding me, I won't work hard...period!!!!

Five states have completed processes to access the federal government’s N90 billion credit, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom said.

The money is to be disbursed in two tranches, with an initial N50 billion released in three months and another N40 billion in nine months, and will be shared among qualified states at a 9% interest rate.

Kemi Adeosun, finance minister, had said the rationale behind the proposed facility which she said was not a bailout, was to assist the states to balance their portfolios.

The government had on Wednesday announced 22 conditions states must meet to access the funds.

Briefing journalists Thursday after the National Economic Council meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Emmanuel said Mrs. Adeosun briefed the council on the credit.

“Five states have completed the process for borrowing from the budget support loan,” the governor said.

He did not give names of the states.

“It is just to make this available; it is not compulsory. What is important is can people have access to a lifeline, you see what is happening today is not peculiar to Nigeria as a country, you know the impact of the fall in crude oil price that has actually gotten to oil producing countries like Nigeria.

“What we are looking at is what are the solutions, we must provide a lifeline for people to survive and to move on, I don’t think it’s too much,” Mr. Emmanuel said, adding that it was too early to list states who have accessed the funds as more may either accept or decline.

“It doesn’t actually mean that states which will take this money do not have something accruable also from the federal government. Pending the time we reconcile our book, the federal government may have some balances to settle the state government. But in the meantime we accept this while we are waiting for those reconciliations to be concluded,” he said.

The deputy governor of Kaduna state, Bala Bantex, minister of trade and investments, Okechukwu Enelamah, and the Special Adviser on Social Interventions to President Muhammadu Buhari, Maryam Uwais, attended the briefing.

Many Nigerian states are currently facing difficulties and are unable to pay salaries, a result of the plunging oil price.

One of the conditions for accessing the fund is that beginning December 2016, states must publish their financial statements, budgets and the quarterly budget performance within nine months of financial year end.

The economic council was briefed by the Central Bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, on the new forex rate policy adopted by the bank.

Mr. Emmanuel said the council lauded the move noting that it would help the economy and ease access to forex. “We should be the better for it,” he said.

What still marvels me up till now was how on earth did APC manage to pull and maneuver the 2015 presidential campaign without spending a dine... Not even 1million naira..

Am still in shock though...
dear its not like they didn't spend fortune in the election, its just that the money, according to APC is from private pulse and not money meant for fighting BH.

Let the various state Governors whose predecessors were contributors to that APC private pulse show with ample evidence that State money were use to suppose APC Presidential campaign.

See what it cost Amechi to build Stadium below:
Cost of Amaechi stadium N24 billion = $126,349,252.96
Cost of the whole complex N31 billion = $163,118,513.33
And he is claiming to build University on a swampy land at the cost of N13 billion. WHO IS FOOLING WHO?

http://www.thetidenewsonline.com/2013/02/15/amiesimaka-stadium-a-national-asset-%E2%80%93-maku-2/
The governor also explained that the stadium cost N24billion while the entire complex cost the state N31billion and when completed, would create employment opportunity for more Rivers people and Nigerians and help reduce crime in the society.ie the stadium n environ cost 31b...no big deal except the land alone is 13b.

please add the cost of other stadiums in Nigeria or the world and their respective costs.
