I finished sec skul last yr nd i wrote jamb nd p utme for ilorin..i applied for medicine nd i had 240 nd 80% resp.i had 4As, 4Bs nd an outstandin in chem in my waec so i wasnt able to fill in any grade for chem b4 d portal closed..waec released my chem nt long after d portal closed..just because of d outstandin unilorin did nt giv me admission asif it was my fault dat waec did nt release my result on time..i didnt waste anytym nd i started ijmb Oct even though d exam was due at Jan..i also took anoda jamb 4 med nd i had 267..my ijmb result was nt too gud nd i had 10 points which wasnt gud enof 4 med so i chose pharm..i wrote 2 post utme nd i had 82% nd 66% for jamb nd p utme resp..At last i recieved an alert yestiday dat i av been offerd provisional admission to study medicine..nd am still hopin to recieve anoda alert for pharmacy..if am given both naw which one will i choose??

I will advice u to choose medicine bcuz that is what u applied for firstly b4 unilorin did not admitted u bcuz of d delay of ur chem result. Also, u wanted to apply for medicine with ur ijmb result but u choose pharmarcy bcuz ur ijmb result was not okay for medicine. I think Medicine is d course u want..I wish u gudluck.

Congrats to d admitted ones. For those who haven't gotten their admission msg yet, d list they've released is not up to d 2nd list that they will release, so i hope ur names will be among the 2nd list. Also, Since we are resuming next week, i think the 2nd list will come out before next week. I Wish u all gudluck.

Reports reaching me now has it that the portal is being updated hence all 200level students have been placed on not in good standing. May I quickly state that there is no need for anxiety and fear as the portal would be updated methodically and simultaneously. In the days ahead the much needed change would be done. Please be calm and patient.

The Admission Officer of the University of Ilorin, Mr. Mansur Alfanla, has advised prospective admission seekers to be wary of people of dubious character, saying that, anybody requesting for any payment to process admission into the University should be regarded as a fraudster.

Mr. Alfanla gave this advice on Tuesday (September 1, 2015) while featuring on a Yoruba programme entitled “Oro to n lo” on Unilorin 89.3 FM, pointed out that admission is not for sale at the University of Ilorin and that the management of the University would not entertain to any story emanating from such an unlawful act.

While responding to a question on the cut-off mark for this year’s admission exercise, the Admission Officer held that the University Senate is yet to make any pronouncement on this, maintaining that the University always keeps to the principle of fair play and equity by only giving admission to the candidates who meet the admission requirements.

Mr. Alfanla disclosed that the University would admit about 8,000 candidates for the new academic session, pointing out, however, that the University management was working towards increasing the figure.

Explaining that the number of students that would be admitted for the new academic session is subject to the directive of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Mr. Alfanla appealed to governments at all levels to provide needed facilities for the nation’s universities in order to increase their carrying capacities for them to be able to admit more students.

He said that the University of Ilorin had recently introduced over 13 new courses as well as created more Departments to accommodate more students into the most patronised university in Nigeria. According to him, some of the newly accredited courses include Criminology, Computer Engineering, Computer Education, and Public Administration, among others.

Mr. Alfanla congratulated the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. (Mrs.) Sidikat Ijaiya, and her team, on the recent post-UTME screening exercise, which he described as “hitch-free”.

He also commended the Directorate of Computer Service and Information Technology, (COMSIT) for the provision of sufficient internet access as well as the uninterrupted power supply throughout the period of the examinations.
